32 years later - I still so love this video, the 80s were a high water mark for Brits and Irishmen, including a young Bono, Duran Duran, Boy George (my favorite), Freddie Mercury, Spandau Ballet,
After listening to this version a billion times in the last 36 years, I am constantly amazed by how David Bowie, like an Eagle swooping in for a kill, ALWAYS sends a massive chill down me the moment his voice over kicks in and crushes everything preceding it. What an absolute master class act that dude was.
I love this whole song from the first time I heard it, but the same thing happens to me as you do when I hear David Bowie's voice: it's really moving and even solemn. Marvelous!
Agree, David Bowie is awesome and very missed. Bono's vocal are powerful and send chills as well. Very powerful singers. I love watching Duran Duran's John Taylor pulling on Andy Taylor's hat near the end of this video. John always liked to joke around. In the video Rio, John pushed Andy off the sailboat. Luckily Andy swam enough to survive that! Those two are like brothers, yet none of the Taylors in Duran Duran are related.

I never noticed that this version was not only longer but different by the way that the voices are more isolated. 38 years on, and this is the best musical artist collaboration for a Christmas song.
Absolute 80's magic! Merry Christmas everyone!!🎅
2019 is coming... still the best xmas song ever in the whole planet... 3😍😍😍😍
I never noticed that this version was not only longer but different by the way that the voices are more isolated. George Michael and Simon Lebon are not overlapping in the transition, Sting has his solo moment, and we hear more of Boy George’s voice, whom arguably have the greatest voice in that song, with the ever great George Michael. Boy George literally gives me goosebumps. He’s so in it, he’s owning the song. Legends! ❤
Of all the version ive heard. This one is the best for me i love it!
❤❤❤❤❤❤ My FAVORITE Christmas song 🎧. Play it everyday 20 times a day during December.. wasn’t born when it’s was release. My parents always play the regular version,, I love this version.. miss you David Bowie, miss you George Michael.
Always number 1 christmas song for me ❤❤
All of the best to make one great song. Bono’s voice gives me major chills. Loving them all.
Gotta love Bono!
Boy George amazes me in this song
yea, "thank God it's them instead of you? " dumb line
@@richodd2292 not really. Bono didn't want to sing the words thinking people would take it the wrong way. It's meant as a reflection of our lives. How many times have we gone through life saying "I'm glad that's not me".
Bono is great and still is. Love him and U2 🤘🏻
More than 30 Years..and it still works every Christmas Time again..X-mas miracle....
Thank you Bob for the last 38 years, remembering my youth and thoughts which are essential at christmas time. All the best to you and Midge.
It chokes me up each time i see and hear this video. I remember the day all radio stations played it at the same time same day! Goosebumps all over me! So sad ... so many gone! Best group ever! I refuse to hear the newbies trying to even go near to these artists...when singers used to really sing... Merry Christmas 2019
I'll sing this song in May, June, July, August, & Sept I don't even care. Heck I'll sing it all year long cuz let's face it; the less fortunate always deserve to be fed for sure.
Una canción que recorrió el mundo con un mensaje de esperanza y solidaridad para aquellos que mas lo necesitan. Thanks Band Aid
The very best band aid ever .
Wow
Still amazing every year.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
One of the most empowering songs ever . They were so so young We miss George Micheal and love Boy George and Phils drumming.
I was 11 years old when I first listened to this song. And still listening to it for 32 years now. A must on the list song every Christmas.
I listen to this song every year around Christmas time lol. Underrated classic filled with superstars 🔥🔥🤘🏻
The absolute best song ever. So many memories take me back to 1984.
One of the best Christmas tune of all time..loved it here in the Philippines..👍📀💿🇵🇭💖
Nothing compares to or beats this original 1984 version!!!!!!! It still goes strong after 34 years!!!!!!!

just legends.
Simply wonderful. Some dearly departed, some we are still blessed with hearing their voices. What an era and I’m lucky to have lived during this time.
