  • All the secret classes you can unlock in Octopath Traveler.
This is a showcase: I show you how the skills look like and what they're actually doing on the ennemies/allies + the Divine Abilities.
All of these jobs are great and extremely powerful! (the sprites are cool as well)
    Sorcerer 00:08
    Runelord 01:13
    Warmaster 04:40
    Starseer 06:08
In my opinion, Sorcerer is good on Cyrus or Primrose
Runelord on Tressa (Transfer + Sidestep = OP)
Warmaster for Olberic (can act as tank) or H'aanit (full damage dealer)
Starseer (Ophilia, because the healing this provides is not enough so it's good combined with Cleric)
Feel free to suggest your best builds in the comment section!

Sorcerer and Starseer seem to have the best utility... Tressa seems to do well with that Runelord Job but the Warmaster job seems a tad lackluster... Olberic already does crazy damage with Brand's alone so long as you increase his attack and corrode the enemies armor... I'm only on level 55 and I'm doing 21K to most bosses with that combo.

The Warrior's Divine skill is really good (40-45k damage) so I gave Warmaster to H'aanit.
Just beat the game (True Final Boss) with
      Tressa Runelord
      H'aanit Warmaster
      Primrose Sorcerer
      Ophilia Starseer
But they were not in the same team!

Right now, my main team is Olberic, Tressa, Primrose, and Alfyn. Usually, Olberic:Hunter, Tressa:Runelord, Primrose: either Scholar, or Cleric, and Alfyn:Sorcerer.
Ive only unlocked Runelord and Sorcerer for the hidden sub-classes so far, and ive been rotating my cast to complete all the stories. Infact, right at this very moment im running Haanit, Primrose, Tressa, and Ophelia...

I managed to make cyrus absolutely devastate any enemies and heres how i did it:
    Secondary class: sorcerer
    Abilities: -bp consumer
-That ability that allows you to deal a lot more magical damage for twice the mp
-that warrior ability that allows you to deal over 9999 in a single hit
-that scholar ability that raises ones magical damage
(You can switch the last one with mp saver for more, well, mp saving)
I had the literal best items for damage and my level was REALLY high but that is not necessary
What i would do to MELT enemies was to use alfyn to give the whole party 3 bp then cyrus would use the sorceres ability elemental break, then primrose would raise cyrus' magic damage with the peacock strut, then idc about the other teammate but i usually use haanit to make the enemy attack last, then primrose would lower the enemies elemental defence then alfyn would raise everyones bp again, then someone should theorically break the enemies shield and you use Cyrus best fitting ability
You could EASILLY deal 100,000 damage per hit (and its 3 hits and can be used at max force next round if alfyn raises his bp again and the enemies shield is somehow broken again)

Scholar's ability is just +50 to Elem.At. If you have top-notch equipment and a high level it's unnesessary since the ElemAt cap is 999. Hell, even if you don't have 999, that last Sorcerer ability that makes your magic more potent *without* doubling the cost will be more powerful than +50 to a stat because it's a damage multiplier and it isn't stopped by a cap. Endgame quest weapons that increases damage dealt by specific elements also give a multiplier, making attacks even more potent.
tl;dr: Magic in Octopath is broken. Case in point: cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/649339957969813537/810653616544808960/unknown.png

Yeah, you're right, same thing here. That, and I just liked to playtest these passive skills with vague descriptions on weaker enemies to see the damage difference. The experience is the best teacher and most of your tricks will be learned in actual battles and bossfights, but "playtesting" can be really useful too, especially if you don't plan on just using a wiki or guides for everything. I've learned half of the tricks that made the screenshot above possible with playtesting.
While on the topic, lemme explain how that broken "99999 on each hit" damage output is even possible. Might come as a fun challenge/endgoal for peeps who'll stumble upon this comment.
First of all, the buffs. ElemAt buff on your spellcaster gives x1.5 multiplier to your damage output. ElemDef debuff on an enemy gives the same x1.5, and yes, they add up. There aren't many ways to debuff this, your best bet is Sorcerer's skill or Guided/Allured NPCs that can cast "mental degradation" or "full enfeeblement".
Scholar's Divine skill makes your AoE spells hit a single target and buffs these spelly by a whopping x2. Sorcerer's divine may seem weaker in comparison - all spells are x1.25 more powerful - but it doesn't make them hit single-target. However, it does stack with the previous Divine skill, although I've found it unnecessary.
Clerics Divine skill makes every single non-divine skill fire twice, and that includes all spells, virtually multiplying your damage by x2 yet again. And it stacks with the previous 2 divines.
Elemental Weapons (the ones with "wind attacks are more powerful" desc) add x1.3 to the element of choice. Tested personally with Battle-Tested Staff (399 ElemAt, no bonus) and Absolute Zero Staff (a bit below 300 ElemAt but better Ice bonus), Ice spells deal noticeably more damage despite the difference in ElemAt stat. The x1.3 is more powerful than it seems. With some characters you can even equip multiple weapons with the bonus to the same element, making it x1.6
      Next are passives.
      1) "BP Eater" from Starseer class is a must for every character that isn't 90% support/healer, multiplies boosted damage by x1.5, no matter what you boost or how many boost points you use.
      2) "Elemental Aid" from Sorcerer multiplies magical damage by yet another x1.5 at the cost of more SP usage. Don't be intimidated by this, you can easily offset it with "SP Saver" passive from Merchant and wreak havoc, and if you're in a boss fight and want to wipe the floor with them - take Thief in your party, equip him with as must SP-adding equipment as you can, give him SP regeneration, and in battle use max boosted "Share SP" on your spellcaster. Fun fact about "Share SP" is that the SP goes well over the cap. Enjoy these +500 SP and more.
      3) Augmented Elements OR Elemental Edge (choose situationally). First is x1.2 to all magical attacks for no added SP cost, the second is a permanent buff you the character's ElemAt and ElemDef. Technically x1.5 it gives is a bigger bonus, but remember that you *cannot* stack it with Dancer's ElemAt buff. You can, however, stack Dancer's buff with Augmented Elements' x1.2. Ultimately it's your choice. Personally I prefer Elemental Edge (permabuff) in random encounters and Augmented Elements in bossfights *if* I've brought a Dancer.
      4) Surpassing Power/SP Saver (situational). One is damage >9999 cap, the other is cutting your SO waste in half. No need to use the first in random encounters, there's only a handful of enemies that can withstand 9999 damage a single time.
Enjoy your unnecessarily broken game. You don't need *everything* on the list - in a screenshot, Alfyn is under ElemAt buff as well as Scholar and Clerics divine skills; the boss is broken and debuffed; the passives are exactly as listed, with Augmented Elements instead of Elemental Edge; the Absolute Zero staff is equipped; ~900 ElemAt with all the equipment and weaponry. That is enough for 99999.
Serious talk, you really don't need to go this far unless you're prepping for the *final* final boss. All chapter 4 bosses have only ~100k health. Treat this as a fun challenge and an "endgoal" for your casters. Although ngl, it *does* feel nice to be able to instantly wipe any random encounter with near 9999 damage and only a single boost.

just a pro tip for anyone coming to this video late like I have: people in the comments put sorcerer on Cyrus, but that’s probably one of the worst and most redundant choices you can make with the secret class. Primrose/Therion make better sorcerer options, and even Tressa can make a better sorcerer if you really don’t want to use the OP merch/runelord combo.

@@samsungrefrigeratorcondens4354 Therion and Olberic both make better Sorcerers. As somebody who’s used Sorcerer Therion, the damage this man outputs goes crazy, and you wanna know why? Weapons that increase elemental damage. After beating certain chapter 4 stories, new sidequests will open up that give some really good rewards. Heathcote’s dagger and… that one dude’s sword from Olberic’s chapter 4 will increase fire damage when equipped. And this increase is nothing to scoff at; it’s insane.
Because Cyrus is a Scholar, he can’t equip either of these when using Sorcerer. Therion, on the other hand? The thief class allows him to equip both. Make him a sorcerer and his fire attacks will be dealing massive amounts of damage; don’t forget to give him the Warrior’s Surpassing Power passive so that damage-per-hit exceeds 9,999. There are other weapons that increase other elements, which is why Olberic makes for a viable Sorcerer too.
This is also why Tressa makes for such a good Runelord; she’s the only one that can equip Runelord and still equip the Primeval Bow of Storms and Tradewinds Spear at the same time, both of which increase wind damage. This makes her Wind Rune broken as hell, on top of being able to use Rest and Sidestep on the entire party with Rune Transfer.
