    Great video, I have been fighting with leveling forever, but this was clear and easy to follow. The 4 slips of paper is a great idea and has helped a lot, thank you.

    good idea breaking up the paper into quadrants. it's a way to check even before leveling post screw tighten. I never actuallly thought about that.

  • @kudkoc
    @kudkoc Před rokem +2

    Using 4 papers is a great idea!
    When I noticed the gap, I loosened all the 8 screws. Then I tightened the screews on top to make the pieces touch each other. After that I tightened the screws on the bottom and fixed it. After that there was no gap, and no leverage problem.

    As always Dennis, you have done a fantastic job explaining how anyone can do this.Tho I think you should reiterate the fact that you should not push down on the build plate with your hands while doing this. I really appreciate and enjoy your work,Thanks.

    Hmm, thanks for the tip. I usually just use my hand to push down firmly on the build plate on both sides (i.e. thumb on one side and fingers on the other side) while tightening the screws (first pass criss cross 80% tightness and second pass 100% tight), and so far, the paper tightness on all 4 corners have been equal.

    • @wangdennys
      @wangdennys  Před rokem +1

      Yes
      But some people still cannot get it to level even with push firmly.
      Possibly their build plate screw gap could be larger.

    on your first demonstration build plate you can probably eliminate that sideways gap by tuning the attachment of the vertical pieces to the main part of the plate. On my Photon Mono 4k the construction is similar to the last example, but the upper part is non CNC, but an |_| -shaped thinner plate, so I managed to get rid of those gaps by bending it slightly with a wise and a hammer 😅 so that it's a nice light friction interface with the plate now and leveling process is therefor straight forward without the need for those corner adjustments (which I found very annoying before the intervention)

      P.S. and also huge props to Dennys. It's kinda just basic mechanics, but amazingly few people get it... And even fewer get to explain it to the wider userbase 💪
      I have a separate playlist of your short instruction vids to link them in reddit troubleshooting threads!

    Good way to level if your buildplate is actually a bit warped on conection side. But for enything else, leveling in the vat is just the most perfect option I ever deal with!

      Than you may try it.

      Awesome stuff, it’s around 00:16 here now. Will test first thing in the morning and revert back. I have a sneaky suspicion that I have applied to much pressure using a single paper sheet, and that could be causing light bleeding the first few layers, leaving my prints with what looks like (for lack of a better description) a really iffy looking resin brim which partially stays stuck to the fep.
      Thanks again!

    Hello, when i used one a4 paper for leveling my mighty 8k , the build plate wanted to go further into the screen and was making cracklin grind noise... but the print came out ok ... then i relevel with 4 a4 papers and the grind sound when build plate touches LCD is now far less but i can still hear it ... also i reflashed with latest firmware ... is this normal for mighty 8k ?

    • @wangdennys
      @wangdennys  Před rokem

      That means your plate is still not level.
      Check by pulling the paper, all must have the same tightness.

      @@wangdennys tightness not a problem, im saying in my case one paper (thickness wise was not enough

    You could shim the gap out to make the leveling process less difficult and complex?

    • @wangdennys
      @wangdennys  Před rokem

      not everyone own or has the material to shim it.
      shim it even more complicated, you have to somehow precisely measure or gauge the gap distance, which not everyone has the tool.
      then use something thin and strong like thin metal as shim, again, not everyone has the material.
      i tried using paper as the shim, but it wont hold, the paper end up tearing.
      tried using thin plaplate, same, the plaplate just tear itself apart.
      i tried to make tutorial that is not require additional tool or material.
      thank you for you input though.
