- Drum cover of Double Vision by Foreigner from their second album of the same name. The song reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1978, and was a top 10 song in Canada.
Triggering the Tight 70s kit from the new Steven Slate Drums 4. This kit matches the song perfectly which was recorded in the 70s.
Had to learn this song for a new band I'm playing in, Rising Tide, so I just turned the camera on after getting it right.
NOTE: I don't ascribe to the message of these lyrics. "Do not get drunk which leads to reckless actions. Instead be filled with the Spirit than be drunk on wine." (Ephesians 5:18)
Check this video out on the Steven Slate Drums site:

To me, this is one of those really fun songs to play to. A good driving beat, flam accents, along with a cool ride cymbal/bass lick. Lots of fun drumming. Been playing it lately myself after a long hiatus...I think from when the album originally came out...LOL...Anyhow, I liked your cover.
Sal,
Thanks for post these covers. I look forward to the new ones as they come. I use your stuff as a resource my band plays many of the songs you covers so if there is something I can't get spot on, I check here. Thanks again.
Great job Sal,I've seen this band a couple of times and you played this one right on the spot,great drum sound matches this song perfectly right down to the ride cymbal part,always a pleasure to hear you play thanks again.
Great as always, always liked how you play foreigner songs.
This is one of my favorite songs by Foreigner and you did such a great job. WOW I am impressed. Thank you!
+All Classic Drum Covers Thank you my drumming friend, much appreciated. I am pleased with how this came out, and amazed how that drum set setting of the 70s from Steven Slate Drums worked so well with the song.
Seen a lot of people cover this song and this is, by far, the best example I've seen. Excellent.
I didn't know it was such a popular song to cover on drums, thanks for viewing it. It's one of my favorite covers of mine because the drum kit I triggered was a "70s setting and it matched the song that was recorded in the 70s perfectly.
Nice one, you never let us down on a good cover, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say it's greatly appreciated.
Very Very Nicely Done !!! As Usual.
Sal, youre always amazing in all your covers ;D
love the sound of the kit you're triggering on this one!
The fill at the start was excellent! Played it over a couple of times. Really smooth drumming, man.
good job you rocked it
Wow man that's fantastic!! Really good job!! Keep it up!
Thank you, much appreciated.
Great skill Sal, sounding super awesome ;D
Very badass indeed! Well done!
Thrill Biscuit Thank you.
Thanks Ray, appreciate you kind comments. I don't have a toe stop on my bass pedal, DW included on to screw on, but I couldn't get the screw loose to put it on. No I don't know how you would add one to a pedal that doesn't include it. If you notice where my foot is playing the pedal, you'll see that I don't need a toe stop as I tend to play the pedal on the mid section.
Cool cover!! Great camera angle. I can see the foot pedal action. Thanks, God bless.
Great cover, i love Foreigner! :) Cheers!
What a wonderfull cover ( love them all) with superb drumming.You miss not one beat and don´t play one more,cause it will be too much. Very tight and exactly. Congratulations.
Very Nice Sal ! One of my favorite tunes. To me there's a tricky twist or two in there, but you nailed it man!
Like it, timing is great.
VEry nice!
Pretty good! Like the hat!
Nailed it!!
Thank you. It's one of those tunes I wanted to cover exactly as the drumming on the record was so creative and interesting.
i love it sal thanks,,,i love your bass drumm sound,,,
Thank you Armando, I appreciate the comment on the sound too.
this is a very special song for me ,,i can see how much love you put in your drumming ,,you make them sound so fresh again just like new,,,thanks a lot again!!!!
Very controlled piece of drumming. Impressive !
+BMC Mini Prototype Thank you. I was very pleased with this cover and the drum sound. Thanks for checking it out.
+rhythmantic - Sal D'Amato It makes me feel like an amateur again, thanks for that ;)
@bondoguy Thanks for watching my videos. In the description of this video it's stated that I'm triggering Steven Slate Drums 4, that's why the cymbals as well as the drums sound real because they are real as opposed to the "modeled sounds" that Roland uses. I recommend triggering drum sample software such as Addictive Drums, Superior Drummer, Steven Slate Drums, etc. if you want a better sound.
@thystig Thanks very much. Appreciate you checking it out.
impressive bass drumming
@rhythmantic YOure doing a great job, i am a huge fan ;D
Great cover man. Nice cap btw!
Well thank you, I'm very appreciative of your encouragement and for watching my videos. Peace.
@Sledjack09 Yes, one of my favorite fills. Thanks, appreciate it.
Awesome :)
Thanks
I love this song much more than Hot Blooded!! :-) Another great cover Sal!!
@evdbob Thanks for sharing that, it pleases me that these videos help other drummers learn the parts.
@helmet19 Thanks Brian appreciate it and thanks for stopping by my fellow drummer friend,
Absolutely amazing man
You could play with Foreigner
Thank you.
@speakwordsfoo Thanks. I think there may be a few more to cover. Their copyright stuff is lenient so that's encouraging for me to cover & upload more.
@powergirl901 Yea, I like that too how they get right into it from the start.
Well thank you and keep drumming!
@dncaruanadrum Yea, me too. That's Steven Slate Drums 4.0, the Tight 60s kit.
@albrenza Thanks Lea. I appreciate you checking them out too. Well, I've done it long enough, drum that is, for 48 years now. It's what God made me to do best.
@RyanJohnRadtke Hey thanks, appreciate you sharing that and thanks for watching my videos.
Ive always loved foreigner and watching your drumming and i was wondering do you think you do foreigners hot blooded because that would be so amazing :)
+XxryanxX425 *Wyatt* thebuildermaniac xD
Thanks. That would be a good one to cover. I've cover "Feels Like The First Time" and a couple of others by Foreigner.
I'll go check that one out. Thank you! :D
You might look into a product called Sugru. It sticks really good to things, and can be shaped to your purpose. You wouldn't need much to fashion a toe stop on your foot pedal. After it cures, it is very much like shoe rubber.
@chknkingkid Thank you, I appreciate it.
@ThePurplefink Thank you, it sounds like you know drumming.
@emaccomputer Cool man, thanks. Think I'll keep this angle for a while.
rhythmantic, I enjoy watching your drum covers i have td10 kit. really am happy with the kit but, i struggle get a good sound out of the cymbals! seems i go through all the cymbal kits but can't find anything really stable. there definatly not like real cymbals but your videos the cymbals sound really good any sugestions on what i could try . the music i play is all pretty much comtempory christian
@imaginemos Thank you.
@MatiasBeast Thank you.
Great job as always!
Do you play your Roland with your band?
@albrenza Thank you.
@1969DayTripper That would be an issue with your internet connection, not the video. I played it all the way through
@Dreamarcelo Thanks.
@Johanndn165 Thank you.
In this video I saw that you have the manual Rick Latham. This is the same manual that I use to study drum.
i like the sound of this set. what drum set is it?
pinkdrumsandglitter lol
@Arturp96 Thanks
Hi im interested in doing the Slate drums, I have a hart pro with a TD-20, what hardware are you using besides the obvious PC to complete the setup?
+Lee Durham Please refer to my home channel page, click on: "About me", for the details, thanks.
+rhythmantic - Sal D'Amato is the Apogee necessary or is that what your using as a sound card?
+Lee Durham No it is not necessary, but it does sweeten the sound, particularly when recording in analog. If you choose, any audio interface will do, like Apogee One or Duo, or PreSonus, etc. or just right out of the computer's audio out.
+rhythmantic - Sal D'Amato thanks much,
do you have 1 or 2 floor toms on your acoustic sets?
Yes, I do too. I'm triggering the Tight 70s kit from the new Steven Slate Drums 4. This kit matches the song perfectly which was recorded in the 70s. You'll find the link to their site above in the description. Thanks for watching.
Hi Sal , could you please send a link to a drumless track? Thanks!!
Paul Safonov
Hi Paul, I didn't use a drumless song track for this cover.
For drumless tracks use the CZcams search engine and input: "drumless tracks ".
@rhythmantic i'm uploading one now, and i wanna know if i' good at em'
@SQDLVR Thanks Eaman, yea, I agree, I don't think I'll cover that one too.
Sal: do you have a toe stop on your base drum pedal? I don't, and I find my toes drifting into the chain when playing doubles like this song has and you play so well. My pedal is a pearl 900 (all I could afford). do you know a source for adding a toe stop on pedals like this? You are one of my favorites. Thanks, Ray
روعة ولا أجمل
@rennieallen Thank you. No I don't. Though I will be bringing out the Roland Octapad soon.
@1969DayTripper I haven't done much of it, there are some tutorials on my channel which are: Led Zep's The Ocean, The Texas Shuffle, Ghost Notes, Playing 4/4 along with 5/4. But I'm not a teacher per say, there are many people here on YT that are gifted and called to teach, like Mike Johnston and Rob Litten (DrumsTheWord). Why do you ask?
@rhythmantic thank you, are you good at drum lessons?
I didn't realize the song was metered on the floor tom. Cool
Thank you for viewing the cover video.
@@rhythmantic At one time you took requests. How about Styx Blue Collar Man?
Glenn Caudill
I can no longer take requests as I literally have 100s of drumless song tracks to cover and tutorials to do. Also I have software that can remove the drum track. Also I’m a beta tester for Magnatrack drum triggers and have much of their products to review.
Thank you for viewing my drum cover videos, it’s much appreciated.
@karenmuenchen Thank you Karen. Yea Foreigner's songs have lenient copyright stipulations.
Yea, Rick is a good teacher.
@AURORA4105 Grazie. Sì, ho cambiato l'angolo di video.
@MrTangi56 SF Bay Area California USA. Why do you want to know?
great job can you make a new one with drums only we have know drummer we need a drum track
Thank you. My drumtracks are for sale, if you're serious, inquire for the details.
just drums and how much
gary mccarthy
$19
Interesting how the songs starts as if it's been already going for a few bars...Foreigner probably intended it that way, but I didn't notice. I may have been too high in the seventies.
it stoped playing at 2:46
1 floor.
Great job man, would you be interested in doing a cover or some originals sometime? :P
Thanks a lot, appreciate it. Before I collaborate on a cover with anyone I prefer to see some evidence of their playing on their channel. As far as originals, I offer my services for a fee and could point you to some examples of my work in that area. If interested, just inquire within, thanks and thanks for subbing.
bro, if you want to REALLY impress people, try playing YYZ by RUSH, and Up And Atom, by Astronoid. with your double-bass skills, I think you could pull 'em off!
Yo bro'! I upload drumming videos to share the love of the music and the drumming - not to impress!
That said, I've considered doing a cover of XYZ and other Rush tunes.
Thanks for viewing the cover.
@@rhythmantic love ur covers! if I didn't already, I am going to subscribe!
@@MonarchsBrody
Thank you for subbing and viewing my covers. I see you drum too and will check out your videos and subscribe to support a fellow drummer.
@@rhythmantic thank you so much! can I have a suggestion on some new songs to cover
@@MonarchsBrody
Yes, certainly! Cover the songs and the music you are passionate about and that resonate with you.
What is the music you like and listen to? - cover it!
