The salesman was respectful and knew what he was talking about. Never once said he was trying to outsource tradesmen, just trying to save the tradesman where it can help. He literally admitted the tool is not for every application and situation, but I tie steel all day and I would be an idiot if I denied the fact this tool would save a lot of time and effort in certain situations. Sometimes hand tying is necessary and a better fit for the job but flat decks or large repetitive mats, the gun will blow through it like nothing. I prefer hand tying but the gun would save a lot.

He is an old school rodbuster, he will never like that gun. But the company I work for do use these, they are very great for tying slab, saves tons of labour and back pain an wrist pain. Once a wall is framed up it is great to use for the remaining verticals needing to be tyed and placed in. It is a really good investment for the right application, added in with the traditional way it is deffinetelly a benefit for the workers and company owner!

Those guns are useless for column work, you need your thumb and forefinger to work the ears of the stirrup to keep the ears flush to the vertical bar, good for flat work, it will never replace an experienced man with a pair of Kleins.

Ironworking for 30 yrs , about 20 yrs bustin’ rods , I wouldn’t want one of those tying guns . (1 ) I wouldn’t want one for columns , beams or joists. I would definitely want the dowels tied by hand , tying verts and horzs I would definitely want a rap on the vert.

Get em old-school Rodbuster!!!, I'm a former Rodbuster and the older gentleman is correct not a real world application with the machine in the rod patch . It probably be good on slabs , especially bridge decks once everything is keyed up, but is it worth the investment? I'm sure it works well in prefab plants but like I said it's not the rod patch.

  • @polishman4168

These Rebar Tying guns probably work for small construction but would Never work in Real Power Plant Construction!!! Larger Rebar REQUIRES Greater Tying Ablitie than a machine can Perform!!! 27 Years in 15 States from 1975 thru 2002!!! Tying is just 1 of Many Applications Needed to Place Real Rebar in Concrete Pours over 500 Cubic Yards with Many Scenarios!!! Kinda Funny watching the younger generation talk aboyt Rodbusting!!!

every tool has it place and time. of course the twin tier isnt going to do everything. ive been using it for 5 yrs doing flatwork/walls and my wrists dont bother me. i still wear my tying belt when im doing rebar. only an idiot will tie his finger. the old guy is making every excuse in the book not to like the machine. its upped our time for doing rebar in walls and matts where there are no tight "clearances" to worry about. the finger excuse is not valid. hes being selfish by trying to prove a point that doesnt hold water. not only that, hes being selfish and not thinking about his guys future physical well being.
hes living in "what if" and "lets say" land. how about just use the gun.
the right tool for the right job. its common sense, boss.

“We will never have automatic semi trucks”
“Nail guns will never be a thing”
“Battery tools will never dominate a job site”
“Safety harnesses will never work because they slow us down”
