The K5 GT-Line, especially with AWD, is a strongly appealing midsize sedan. Internet fan boys will immediately want the K5 GT with its stronger 2.5L turbo engine and DCT but apart from the fact that most won't be able to afford either one they should be careful what they wish for. The biggest weakness of both the K5 GT and the Sonata N-Line is the absence of AWD or even a limited slip differential (either mechanical or electronic) in a vehicle with about 300 HP and over 300 ft lbs of torque. Recently switched from KIA to Mazda. Greatest decision I have ever made. There is a reason why Genesis, Hyundai, and KIA have dropped substantially in ratings according to consumer reports.
I seen this car on the road the other day and it was stunning! I had to look it up and research I must say KIA have out done themselves with the Kia K5, Stinger, Telluride, Sorento, & Soul they all look very nice and great modern interior as well. Heard a lot of bad stuff about KIA Customer Service at dealerships… especially from the Stinger owners. From their words that the 10 year warranty could be a 20 year warranty and they would still find a way to blame you for the issue
Love my 2022 K5, going to be driving it 15-20k miles a year. Easily one of the most reliable brands today. Having owned a 2010 Kia Forte previously, I'm sure this thing will last to 200k and beyond!
I actually like the way these cars look I was really looking into one but went with the Camry instead because I wasn’t sure about how reliable the Kia was
It’s funny. I recognized the overpass and saw YaYa’s. Joe your knowledge is outstanding and definitely helps me in my decision making for a car. Thanks
I've learned firsthand that Kia and Hyundai 10 year warranty is useless. They refuse to honor anything but the worst items for warranty coverage. My 2015 Sonata was using 2 qts of oil every 1200 miles and they refused to do anything.
Look at different dealer, they are tons of people that received new short or long blocks swapped for free, because class action lawsuit, from 2011 to 2017-plus models, I own '16, without any problem, runs like day one, engine oil and OEM filter every 4 months, done by me, I received letter to do 953 software update, after that engine is covered longest I own car, love it.
Kia reliability is hit or miss. I have a 2013 Rio and I’ve never had any major problems with it, but my friend has a 2015 Soul and has had to take it to the dealer 3 times. She even needed a new engine. This is all before 100,000 miles.

I love it. I recently bought a Kia Optima 2015 EX trim, and maaan I am falling in love with this car. It's so good looking car and it's so smooth. So my next new car most probably will be the Kia K5.
Kia has grown up a lot but i still just cant get myself to buy one. Its a Kia. They offer a lot for the money but for some reason i still would not feel confident in one. A car is supposed to make you feel confident, powerful on the road, excited, most of all happy. I do not see that with Kia yet. They are getting close though. For me i would rather buy a Toyota or a Honda over a Kia anyday. I hear build quality is a concern. I was really considering a 2022 Kia GT that makes 293 horse power but instead i got a 2.0 Honda Accord Sport 2022. The car is absolutely incredible.
While I looked at this car when shopping I ended up going with the 2021 Toyota Camry SE And glad I did. I had a Sorento and between the 6 recalls during its lifetime and the creaky ride after only 6 years I just don’t trust the brand like I do Toyota. Thanks for your videos. I really enjoy them.
Nothing against the car, but how is 15k miles a “long term” test? I would hope any modern car can hold up for 15k miles. To me that’s still new. How about a 75k-100k mile reliability test?
Really love the design of this car, I've been seeing them appear more and more by where I live. The full blown GT model could use an LSD and an extra pedal though 😏
No MT in the K5 future, I'm afraid. Midsize sedans are already stagnant in terms of sales and adding a third pedal wouldn't help. But the absence of any sort of LSD (electronic or manual) in the K5 GT is its major weakness. Perhaps KIA will see the error of their ways on that score. As far as a V6 is concerned, that's a non-starter. Period. A naturally aspirated would only add weight and no performance advantage compared to the 2.5L turbo 4 and a turbo version of a V6 wouldn't come close to justifying its cost in terms of sales.
I have the same exact car . I’ve had it since January and it’s aged very nicely. No machine car washes 😎 i got the old badging but replaced them in black !! Its a great car & I get lots of question out on the road !! 😊❤️
The short answer is no. I know cause I've been doing a Kia engine settlement series for over a year now. Helping people get their engines replaced but only if they have the KSDS.

I was really considering a 2022 Kia GT that makes 293 horse power but instead i got a 2.0 Honda Accord Sport 2022. The car is absolutely incredible.
Things have definitely changed for sure!
I have a 2016 optima and this is my next car. I love the exact one you are driving.
Im going to the kia dealership today to check out the gt-line. The appointment was made days ago. Thats crazy!!!!
Please which car is the best amongst this three cars; Mazda Mazda3, Kia K5, Kia optima
I really wanna get the gt trim but they’re so hard to find
If drive quality is the only criteria (not premium features) would you choose Kia K5 Vs GR86 2021 as you have driven both very recently.
Nothing against the car, but how is 15k miles a “long term” test? I would hope any modern car can hold up for 15k miles. To me that’s still new. How about a 75k-100k mile reliability test?
My favorite Korean sedan! terrific job Joe.
I really want this vehicle, but after 4 engines in my Optima SXL I’m skeptical about buying another Kia.
It definitely sound solid no ringing or sound out of the ordinary, good job beautiful Lori.
Really love the design of this car, I've been seeing them appear more and more by where I live.
The full blown GT model could use an LSD and an extra pedal though 😏
And a v6 maybe
@@yrnjackson6504 If it can fit that twin turbo V6
@@mistamaog i want it to be a v6
@@yrnjackson6504 We all do
No MT in the K5 future, I'm afraid.
Hello! I am looking into getting this car. Just wondering how your care is doing? Any problems or regrets?
can wait to watch this video ON THROTTLEEEEEEE
I love taking you ON THROTTLE!
KIA's are nice, but I wouldn't buy one as a long term daily driver though..
Too many issues with the engine and other things
The short answer is no. I know cause I've been doing a Kia engine settlement series for over a year now. Helping people get their engines replaced but only if they have the KSDS.
How about KIA bringing out a K9 Stinger "Greyhound" version.
That would be hot!
Joe, have been following your channel, like the way you present these reviews / walkthroughs. May I request (If possible) drop a couple of (insights) lines on the resale values of the cars you review. This would help us better understand the value hold capabilities of various brands.
I love my 2022 GT Line
If they make a hot hatchback version for the K5 and tune the engine to make more power they can really compete with the GTI
The only thing I wish Kia would have is that in and out locking feature while your car still running that Nissan have that would be nice not only Kia but any car that’s keyless entry
Stinger needs to stay alive
Who is paying 50K on a KIA though?
Thinking about getting one! This was a helpful review. Great work as always Joe 👍🏾
Honestly this is now my favorite realistically priced sedan that’s good on gas
Your descriptions for stuff fitting in places are the best 🤣🤣🤣
does the dual climate area ever squeak like the plastic is rubbing against something? does anyone experience that?
I did not notice that at all.
@@RaitisRides Oh ok if I put my hand under it the sounds stops would that mean something is loose?
Yes! Happens on my 2022 K5. There's a known issue with this in many K5s and they supposedly have a fix for it. Taking mine in a few days from now.
Looks sporty from the back 😍
Have the same spec color and seats, just no sun roof. great daily driving experience with the automatic as compared to the CVT offered on most competition.
2021 Kia K5 GT-Line LOOKING much better. Great to see good products from the South Koreans brothers.
Well my car just crossed the 100,000 miles 😆 running good 🤞
When r we gonna see your daily driver joe raiti. Would love to see it
