That's insane! IF YOU SRE TAGGED: Drive straight to the police station and tell them your problem. They can help identify if what you have is a threat or a prank. Also, they are more than likely going to be able to protect you while the assess the risk. Assuming you don't wander off to the dark and abandoned gas station across the street to give the track-er a chance to kidnap you, the track-ee. Don't be a nitwit.

Apple did this because they believe it would entice android users to see the benefit and buy AirTags therefore buy an iPhone. Apple doesn’t really care about the environment or android users safety. Also this is quiet useless because an android user has to download the app first, oppose to iOS users that has the app by default on their phone. Maybe if apple can convince google or Samsung or other phone manufacturers to put it by default that would be more beneficial but other manufacturers likely wouldn’t do this knowing it’s just a free promotion for apple then.

@@WhitestAttorneyOld its useless because example, if a thief puts the AirTag on a rich man’s car, the man likely doesn’t have this apple app on his android phone. Unless this is marketed heavily most people wouldn’t install it, due to several reasons, including not knowing, maybe not trusting apple, also if they don’t have the AirTag they guess they don’t need it, because it’s just going to take space whilst not being used. Unless governmental agencies mark this app as essential for security, most people wouldn’t install it. Btw I just saw the app in the android store and I didn’t install it, because I don’t have AirTag so I don’t think it’s necessary. Also Because I don’t trust apple on my android.

Am I the only person who sees a legal issue here?
It's a Bluetooth device, not useful beyond ~30 feet. It's good enough to find keys inside of your house just like Samsung and tile devices.
The issue is how it's hopping other iPhones to report beyond that range without consent from them and that's illegal at the constitutional right level.
