    Real easy way to make an Air Tag harder to find. Take the battery out, carefully pop open the air tag, its just a few clips holding the 2 halves together. Once inside you will find the speaker in the middle of the AirTag. Pop it out and reassemble. You now have an AirTag that if you hide the person will never find. I buried mine inside one of the body panels of our car. You can still track it, but when you get the notice that an AirTag is following you and have it play a sound nothing happens. ⚠️🚗Using AirTags for my vehicles, I want a toggle I can switch on a specific AirTag/vehicle settings so if it moves locations I get notified with a proper notification. If I park a vehicle or know I won’t be driving it regularly, I want to arm it so if someone was to steal it I know it’s moved rather than only finding out if I *happen* to casually look in find my and I notice it’s not where I left it.
    I’ve tested to use the geofence feature to see if I can get it to do this for any vehicles within my home but if I’m away from or in the geofence and my AirTag is taken from the selected zone, I don’t get any notification that I “forgot” my device.
    That’s been the only way I can think to make them notify you if someone takes your stuff other than you noticing but that seems like poor design. I want to know the moment my stuff is taken.
    Bonus setting feature*** make it so you can also select to only receive the notification that something was moved when the AirTag is without my phone being present.
    With one or both of these features I would find proper value in these AirTags. Until then they’re hardly valuable. Especially being the thief will know they’re being tracked now and may throw my tag in the trash before I find out they have taken my vehicle… 😐
    Include the same fine in the apple AirTag conditions and make notifying the thief an option not necessity. Also make the thief’s access to playing sound an option so I can stop tearing apart my damn AirTags to delete the speakers…🤦🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

      @@MariuszChr These AirTags should prioritize the owner before any other person.
      I would believe stalking is far far less common than stealing of all sorts especially accumulated. Grand or petty theft. Now the difference is that these AirTags genuinely have a chance to help people find and recover their shit as it will do nothing to someone getting stalked.
      You spend years of your life saving or paying off a loan from the bank for your vehicle. If you’re into cars you put your heart and soul into it and regardless you prob put a mental attachment to the vehicle and make it yours. Or your backpack full of camera gear, or your gym stuff, you choose. You put an AirTag in it to protect it so you can retrieve all of your possessions that you work your ass off for. The thief takes it in seconds and you can now kiss it goodbye AirTag or not. Cause now they get notified and furthermore are assisted by apple in finding the tag. They throw it out on the street and continue on with your shit.
      Using an AirTag to stalk is idiotic. It’s literally attached and is trackable back to your ID and cellphone/home address. Sure there’s idiots out there but if you’re getting stalked let it be known that AirTags will not make the scenario any worse. Either someone waits for you and follows you discretely or they plant a tag and follow at a further distance. At least you have a chance of figuring it out if you notice the AirTag. You usually won’t be given that luxury.
      A stalker with a chosen victim will stalk one way or another. A thief who steals an AirTag can actually be caught and held accountable with way more ease. They can be caught before accumulating thousands of dollars of damage which YOU WILL be responsible for unless they’re caught. They can be caught before they run someone over during their joyride. The thought that AirTags can be anywhere and will help catch them promptly is even on its own a deterrent to all thieves. Chances are if they have something you might want they prob have an AirTag on it. Clearly neither theft or stalking are good things, but AirTags could stop all thieves and will never hold back a stalker.
      Increase the legal penalties for stalking, ban users that are caught stalking from company products, make the worst penalties you can think of and put them on the front of the box. That’ll deter a stalker more.
      Also people are cutting the speakers out anyway. I’ve done it 7 times already. Just make it a feature so everyone knows it’s possible rather than only the dedicated few having silent AirTags and hardly anyone knowing that’s possible.

    • @DeoneSoBord
      @DeoneSoBord Před rokem +1

      @@MariuszChr I’d also be curious how many violent thefts could be avoided. Imagine not having to fight someone to stop them from taking your stuff cause you know the cops will be on their ass turn for turn. I would argue violent theft victims are greater than stalking victims and AirTags could completely eliminate the need for a person to defend their property. More people are saved by using these how they’re designed and not giving in to the media headlines for stalking.

Seems weird that this wasn't the standard for all of these companies' tracking devices to begin with, rather than making it an option..that may end up costing extra.

      If your idea to create a convenient piece to help you track your lost items is later used in a malicious way- 1 the tech wasn’t originally designed for that purpose so not even a firmware update may be able to help but 2 it also isn’t their fault, but they’ve got credit for at least trying to course correct now that they see the evil possibilities people may use it for.

      @chrisjfox8715 Před rokem

      @@B-Moye I get the point you're trying to make, but I would think that if you as a company can distinguish one tracker from another well enough for someone to be able to identify their tracker from someone else's, then you can retroactively build a registry system to grandfather in now-required registration for those uniquely identifiable tags. The registry can exist and be run on their servers, with logic infrastructure to activate and deactivate certain trackers depending on how they're interacted with. You know which phone is mine and you know which trackers are mine but you don't know which trackers around me aren't mine?, unless I buy your newest products?
      But let's pretend for a second that that's not possible as you say, the point still remains that if you introduce this new tech yet consciously continue to manufacture and sell the old, then you aren't really curbing the threat. At best, non-theives would buy the new ones yet intended theives would insist on continuing to buy the old ones.

    1. Need a lawyer: hypothetically, but if you buy the device, you own it, so you can do anything you want to it. I would suspect that the tile software is where you would agree to potential mil $ fine. What if the stalker connects to cracked version of software, or 3rd party software, that doesn't include the mil $ fine?
    2. I do think that the airtag anti stalking feature is poorly implemented. Maybe once the tracker is deployed, if you have constantly around the tracker, (for say a month or more), then once it is found to not be around you, then the tracker doesn't notify the person near it for a set amount of time. And this can be variable. Example: I purchased an airtag and placed it in my car. My phone is showing that I am next to my car for 3 months, and then it gets stolen. Instead of manufacturer notifying thief that there is a tracker within the default time limit, it is the default time limit + 8hrs for each month of me being near the tracker.
    3. Apple will notify you if you have an iPhone or you have to have an app with android. Tile can't really use the same strategy since people who don't use tile, would not install their app just because they might get notified. Unless they're an at risk individual or a professional thief.

    You could use the cheapest feature that some homeowners use. Like, a sign that says, "the homeowner is armed and silent alarm installed at this home." Do the same on your car. Put a small sign at the bottom of the driver side window that says, "vehicle has undetectable tracking device installed or undetectable air tag installed." Of course, I'd actually install a tag or tracking device too, if I had a car that was in the top five stolen cars in my region. But that little sticker would discourage a lot of low level thieves the same way it does on homes.

    It's a matter of perspective , even the thief(which can also turn out to be your family member who used your stuff without asking/telling you) will be like they stalked me and sue your ass, you know what the company should do they should register this device alongside the item you using it on /in , like while buying this you have submit a proof of ownership of the car or the bill of the bag you are going to attach it to and you are only allowed to you the said device with the device id with the registered Item Id , if found otherwise then criminal charges i suppose , well there can be many different scenarios with many people so the companies should make some rule book and find a way to enforce those rules
