Vagabond felt like a once in a lifetime experience, even if it's not finished
for sure
same goes for berserk
I have given up hope that Inoue-sensei will ever finish Vagabond. However, I am convinced as a reader that the story so far alone is a truly wonderful work.
Real is also a really great work and I hope many people read it. It is not a fun story like Slam Dunk, but it makes me think about many things.
He was recently asked about film adaptations of Vagabond and Real and his response was that his priority is being a manga artist and that right now he wishes to focus solely on Real and Vagabond, so I wouldn’t say there no hope, but then again one’s state of mental health can flip at any time
I've never read Vagabond or watched the video but my take I feel like Inoue burnt his soul on Vagabond and started working on Real in the meantime to gain inspiration with his passion of basketball. He wasn't in the right state of mind to continue or complete Vagabond.

Slam Dunk is amazing....I started out reading the manga and I dived into the anime early on. I loved it and it is hands down the greatest basketball series to come out of Japan, I need to see all the movies now including the new one. I heard it was pretty fire.
Vagabond and Slam Dunk are goated but Real is incredibly underrated. Its just as good as these two
Just so you know, Vagabond, as well as Vinland Saga and Berserk are seinen manga/anime rather than shonen, meaning they are geared more towards younger adults than kids/teens. In fact, they are widely considered the “Big 3 of Seinen”, in contrast to the “Big 3” : Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece
That's exactly right....I'm watching Kingdom and enjoying that too. Nothing tops Berserk, Vagabond, and Vinland Saga in the seinen family tree in my mind! Another seinen favorite of mine is Monster, which is a masterpiece in its own right.

Slam Dunk is the best sport manga of all time. If you read you will cry, not exaggerating. The movie is just the final match in the manga, which finished in 1996 I think.
Ashita no Joe for me but Slam Dunk comes after...its so good
The only regret I will have when I die is that I won't get to read an authentic Berserk ending.
That berserk ending was completely created by Miura it's just that his friend who will draw it in the manga. Miura told everything about the end to his friend beforehand. So, technically it will be an authentic ending.

slam dunk is and will always be my top 1 sport manga
If Vagabond ever does end it will easily become the greatest ending ever especially where the story left off i can see why its tough to come up with an ending

I’m actually happy if he decides to never finish it, it feels poetic and perfect for the reader to only imagine the journey that we all in reality know and love. The masterpiece that was never finished.
Hajime no Ippo, Slam Dunk and Rookies are miles better than Haikyuu. Now I am currently reading Ashita no Joe, which had something and I heard it also had cultural impact for the Japanese readers on that era.
Ashita no Joe is in my top 2, have a good read man 🫡
Vagabond is a UNIQUE experience, I can understand why Inoue-sensei hasn't got the right mindset to finish this work. It does pain me that it won't likely come in the near future. However, you can read the ending through the main citation source, if you ever come to that point.
On that note, Nic, do a freaking Vagabond manga stream already.
Vagabond is in fact my number 1 manga and not only for its writing or art, maybe when I read it back Hunter x Hunter pushes it away for a while but overall it comes back to my nr. 1 spot, what vagabond gave to me is more than a story. It genuinely changed me and my perspective on life, it made me appreciate the daily life a little more and gives me the motivation to be "a little kinder to others and myself". I think its a normal feeling to struggle in life but it always felt like my life is a slow yet constant downward spiral but this changed a few years ago, I can proudly say I love myself and I can even say I am now in a very slight constant upward motion in life and I can confidently say that this all started while I was experiencing vagabond or atleast it ignited it all and played a major part in changing my life for the better... idk vagabond is an experience and it just feels so human, so alive and organic its literally breathing idk its hard to describe, this tale of musashi and how he discovers the truth in what it means to become "the best" and "truly strong" can be applied to anything and everything in life its so overarching in what it is trying to tell and takehiko inoue poured all his heart into this manga and you can tell. If you know anyone who feels unwell and uncertain about life I strongly encourage you to point them towards vagabond even if they dont read manga, I doubt anyone who can appreciate a genuine tale (thats also really hype and has a major shounen aspect so yeah its goated either way) will not be thankfull for having experienced vagabond... Vagabond is also a lot more about growth and the value of yourself and everything around you its more like the farmland saga so be warned its not a pure samurai sword fighting story and if you get into it with that mindset you will be disappointed.
vagabond is quite literally the best thing i have ever read . Reading vagabond was a literal life changer .It changed my way of seeing life ,it also inspired me to start reading stoicism and philosophy in general
I really recomend you to read Vagabond. Its a great and philosophical manga!
2 Manga that broke my heart when I knew they are on hiatus Vagabond doesn't need an introduction and Nana Wich is a drama manga that felt too real both of them are on an indefinite hiatus

Same thing with Historie. Started reading it after parasite anime, but the updates are slow enough to elapse whole shonen publications between its ch releases. It is also a shame that we will probably never see it adapted into anime (both because it suffers from the same great art hard to adapt into 2d without 3d intervention phenomenon and due to its relatively low popularity). I just wish that someday the 3D pipeline in low budget studios in Japan get good enough to produce acceptable results. Another one we would never get is the "A Bride's Story", probably because they would need to figure out toon shader for fabric (given how intricately detailed all the clothes are and how important they are to the story). Makes me wonder if Attack on titans is the only manga that escaped this hole of complex material that was successfully animated.
Slam Dunk well here in the Philippines, help kick start the Basketball 🏀 boom back in 2000's I still remember a lot of kids would play basketball to try moves from the anime, we also have some Philippine Basketball Association players that was inspired by the series to Play pro. So yes it's one of the best sports anime.
I prefer it more than koroko since those MF basically have super powers 😂 unlike Slam Dunk that was just pure skill and talent, although one Basketball game would last 3 to 4 episodes
I finished the Manga of Slam Dunk this Month it's incredible man I highly recommend that and probably this is my first show that hook me to anime in my Television when i was a kid but it's sad that the anime is didn't finished. Year passed only this month I'm interested to read the Manga and it's literally worth it and i watch also the Movie of Slam Dunk i really love how good this Movie is.. you will hype and emotional..

I am in my early 30s. I remembered Slam Dunk episodes starting at 6:30pm everyday. That opening song still makes me cry this day.

One of my favorites, I hear near its current volumes it's been really slow but don't let that deter you. Probably said to be too hard to animate because the details drawn are incredible. I lent a coworker 6 volumes, then he was fired shortly after, was able to catch him on the phone one time but I think they're gone, probably sold them for fun times.
Vagabond is life changing. When I started reading I could not stop.

Funny this released now. Inoue said less than 24 hours ago that he wanted to focus on Vagabond, so he wasn't going to work on anymore movie stuff like he recently did with Slam Dunk.

Nick needs to read Vagabond to be honest. He's over here saying it's not as accessible to read as Slam Dunk but, I legit couldn't stop reading it when I started.
It has the aesthetic of a super deep artistic manga, but the dialog of a really easy to read manga. Like, It's deep but, has a charm to it that makes it not feel overwhelming, like with modern deep manga with a billion lines of dialog and shit.

I need to check out real. Seeing someone write about disability and struggling to live with it and find meaning brought me to tears as a paraplegic.
Vagabond is a very good manga of course you shold read it and same thing for slam dunk the manga is my favorite sport manga and is in my top 10 if not 5 manga of all Time. If you are wondering if you should watch the anime instead of the manga the manga of slam dunk is much better and after there is the movie this is very very very good i just dont know where to watch it.

Luckily as of right now Vagabond ends right where Musashi's Wikipedia page begins, so its kind of beautiful in a way. He leaves to go fight the Rock Style dude and then the rest is literal history.

Slam dunk is without a doubt one of the best shounen/sports manga and is on par with Hajime no Ippo this 2 masterpieces are always the best sports stories I have ever witnessed sadly Hajime no Ippo got a legendary treatment from studio Madhouse when they were at there prime but the case was different for Slam Dunk and it's anime was Nice but that was just it and I think the movie you mentioned was a reboot of the story if I am sure.
AND YES THIS 2 ARE BETTER THEN HAIKYU FIGHT ME IF YOU WANT!!....In term of manga probably as for the best sports anime? it's obviously Hajime no Ippo everything about it is perfection the art style the osts nothing can even come close to it and yes Haikyuu is good and for a sports anime I think it's second best anime after Hajime no Ippo but difference is massive between them.
Oh and since I have already said something controversial let me also say that Hajime no Ippo manga is longer then one peice and there is a big chance that One Piece will end before it and why I am saying this here? cuz I mentioned that in Twitter and One Piece fans got triggered and it was fun.

このバガボンド？見たことが無かったですが、宮本武蔵を題材にしたのかな。日本の歴史を知れるし、時代背景とか当時の生活など分かりますよね。しかし、小筆で描いているなんて凄すぎる。ほとんど1枚の絵画みたいな物だし、作者さんの画力に驚きました。私が幼い頃から、マンガやアニメってそこらじゅうに溢れているのに、何十年経っても次々に新しいジャンルが出て、作者さんの想像力に驚きますよね。

Claymore and Berserk are the best manga ever made, both dark fantasy medieval dramas. The anime adaptations are similar 26 eps, but Claymore is better because it faithfully follows the manga until ep 22, while they cut out of the Berserk anime 2 main arcs The Bakailaka Assasin Squad and Demon Monkey. Also the mindfck action starts quicker in Claymore than in Berserk which becomes midfck about the time the anime ends. Then you need the manga.🤓
& Best sports anime of all time must be Hajime no Ippo - boxing. But I have not seen all of the other ones yet.

Vagabond is not a master piece, at least not storywise. It's incredibly well drawn and the action scenes are just superb, but the characters are shallow and seem to exist just for combat purposes. It's based on the book from Eiji Yoshikawa, but not even the main character carries any of the depth from that amazing novel. Takezo doesn't have any of the philosophical development from the book (his imprisionment and forced study doesn't even exist in the manga), Sasaki Kojiro is a deaf-mute wild person, instead of an acomplished swordsman... It's just a combat manga.
