@@Elamado97to explain better you can't really protect that pawn mostly at these positions we can play a4 or b3 and further more it weakens your white squares terribly a move like bishop g2 or even queen f3 will be really strong attacking the f5 pawn the knight will forever have to protect that pawn or else we can even fork the king and rook which will basically force them to be passive and rook being kinda trapped in the corner basically it's a lost position so it is best to leave that pawn hanging and develop your pieces

Why not pawn to b5 to protect c4 pawn in the opening?
It's all theory, giving up a pawn for faster development

Generally in this opening it's not a good idea to protect c4. Even if you play a move like b5 to protect it. It results in some kind of weakness.
