    Incredible video mate. I have seen kite junkie vids, but always thought he is the only one who can possibly unroll the kite in the water.. looking forward to your packing of the kite video and others.. your water launch skills re amazing.

      Thanks for that. I learned to do this from the kite junkie myself. I just wanted to make some videos about it that were more detailed. It's a bit of work, but it really opens up more possibilities.

    I guess you could also drift launch whilst standing on those rocky islands, they look flat enough not to cause any issues. Or have I missed something? Nice video cheers

    • @snowandfoilkiting8637
      @snowandfoilkiting8637  Před rokem +1

      Yes, that's right. I mostly use the islands now. A little farther to swim, but less complicated in the end. I stand in the water at the edge of the island, but not on the island. Thanks for the comment.

    • @snowandfoilkiting8637
      @snowandfoilkiting8637  Před 3 lety +2

      I have six LEI kites that I basically never use now. The 9 and the 13 cover essentially all my needs. Be sure to watch the how to pack the kite video. That's the key to having the water launch work. Good luck.

    Great video!!!! Very motivating for the ones who are getting into foil kites! I have a Flysurfer Speed 5 15m2 and barely flies in 5 kt. How can you fly a 13m2 in 5kt?

    • @snowandfoilkiting8637
      @snowandfoilkiting8637  Před rokem +1

      Thanks. The Ozone Hyperlink V2 is made of really light material that is also basically waterproof. It will fly in almost as little wind as a single skin kite. At such low speeds you can't really foil but it's nice to have a chance at keeping it in the air while you're waiting for a bit more wind.

    Hey!
    What's your kite size here?
    P.S.
    Would you be so kind to tell me also what is your weight and front wing model/surface? :)
    It might help me out with my approximations when to go out and when not to! :D
    Super cool guide, thanks a lot!
    Hoist Sergio did a great job in his videos, but you added a commentary and that helps a lot! :)

      I loved your other videos, they will be super useful for me this summer - I am looking forward to more of them!
      Final question:
      Can you explain to me where/how you land the kite after launch from the water? Do you have someone lower it for you on the beach or it's also done in the water?

    • @snowandfoilkiting8637
      @snowandfoilkiting8637  Před 3 lety +2

      @@igorpavlovic66 When I water launch it's in an area where there is no option for normal landing. I just pick a spot a bit upwind of where I will go out of the water, flag out the kite, roll it up, and swim in. It's a planned self rescue.

    You should try without any lines : so simple to wing foil in light wind....and you don't get in trouble and go to the shore safely.

    Nice vid! Why do you use hooks instead of regular straps?

    • @snowandfoilkiting8637
      @snowandfoilkiting8637  Před rokem +1

      Trying to avoid injury. I'm 60 years old and have one artificial hip. At my age I'm trying to balance my fun with safety differently than when I was 25. I've changed the configuration of the straps since that video. Now I have two foot hooks forward in a windsurf configuration and if the wind is super light I add a regular foot strap in the back just for making the water start easier. I find the hooks in the front in a windsurfing config makes working on foot switches better.

    • @matthiasv7585

    Hey mate, how good are half straps?

    • @snowandfoilkiting8637
      @snowandfoilkiting8637  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I think they're great. They help to manage the board in light wind when you're getting started. Once you're up it's like riding strapless. I moved them both forward to make a windsurfing style set up in the front and put a normal foot strap on the back. I did this because my riding style changed a bit and it was better for practicing foot switches.

    Hello. Why do you need to use this method? Do you not have a spot to launch on land?

    • @snowandfoilkiting8637
      @snowandfoilkiting8637  Před rokem

      It's for spots that don't have a useable launch spot. It can open up new areas and wind directions. I would rather use a beach, but sometimes there isn't one.

    Had that tampon with strings waste of money UfO v2 will out perform that tampon in every time for half the price and no maintenance required I now use the tampon with strings for a drop cloth or dust control
