- Corey Harris went viral for appearing via Zoom while driving for a court hearing on a suspended license case on May 15. Then, following issues tied to records, Harris returned to court to once again to face Washtenaw County Judge J. Cedric Simpson, who told Harris that he never had a driver's license.
Just two days later, Harris was able to secure a learner's permit license.
This video goes through each of all of those events.

As an attorney I can offer this bit of advice: don’t take what your client says as the gospel truth in these types of cases. The hard facts and his driving record will bite you in the behind. Talk to the prosecutor, access the records. If the attorney had come in a bit less cocky I wouldn’t have been so quick to fault her. Trust but verify. But really, a man who would drive w/o a license while in Zoom court is a complete idiot.

It means he hasn't been paid out for his injuries and medical expenses witch is 3x times the treatment. Payouts happen after you have been made whole or healed. He just gave the insurance company leverage to terminate his treatment or negotiate less...lol. 😂 He just went from stack of extra money to just his medical paid....lol

Some people are complaining that driving without or a suspended license is not a big deal are not looking at all factors. If someone doesn’t have a license or have a suspended license, you can almost guarantee they are not insured. What that means for other drivers on the road? If they hit you causing damage and injury, guess who’s going to be taking care of that bill? If your car insurance is one of those scamming insurance where you pay just enough to get on the road, you think they are going to foot the bill? Then you face the possibility of your premiums changing. Yeah they need to get and keep those drivers off the road

The outstanding warrant is from another driving without a license (DWL) case from 9 YEARS AGO.
The judge said he never had a license.
Michigan suspended his driving privileges for DWL.
Then he was caught DWL in the current case.
Then while awaiting trial. he was caught on video DWL.
The man is a habitual criminal. He never got a license despite being caught at least 4 times.
His attorney said he just wants to move forward. Fine. But recognize this is a habitual criminal who made no effort to comply with the law over at least 9 years - probably more before that.
Well, it was definitely longer than that because he has only had a MI state ID and no license since 1999. Guaranteed he has been driving unlicensed since 1999, which was almost a quarter of a century.

@@tadevans5607 I would argue that anyone who knows they are on ZOOM is responsible and assumes the risk of having the video go viral. Especially if you are breaking the law while on ZOOM. Never break the law while being recorded (or at least put on a mask.). People with low IQs should be given 5 "dumb cards" at age 18 and over the course of their life, they should be allowed to play one of the cards when they get into a fix. Unfortunately, most would be out of cards in less that a month. Sad.

All the fines are taken care as of the date of last court. The matter of driving with a suspended license is still in the system, if he does get the driver license by august 7, the judge will dismissed the case, if it isn’t then he will find him guilty and may have to pay some other fines and then he won’t be able to get a driver license for the next 90 days or something. That’s my guess.

After 24 years, Corey Harris FINALLY has his driver's license!!! The prosecutor dismissed the more serious charge against him afterwards and he pled to the double parking. The judge agreed to waive all of his court costs and fines for that one.
