  • The actress and singer who came to fame singing "Bye Bye Birdie" isn't ready to say farewell just yet. Ann-Margret, the star of such hits as "Viva Las Vegas," "Carnal Knowledge" and "Tommy" (the latter two of which earned her Oscar nominations), talks with correspondent Tracy Smith about her transcendent six-decade career, from her childhood in Sweden where she dreamed of being an entertainer, to her status as a sex symbol, to becoming a Hollywood grand dame.

@@tropicalwave6665 I don't think he was married then either. Since I have been in the DC metro area, I met two women (at different occasions) who used to date Elvis. They had receipts!! Both were were very young when they met him. They both were gorgeous, former military children, and southern. They both met him when he was hot, before the drugs and craziness set in. They had nothing but great things to say about him. Even though they had kept photo albums and other mementos, they never saw a future with him. He was not ready to settle down. From their casual photos, Elvis was more handsome in those pictures than I ever saw on TV and in magazines. I get it!!

One of the highlights of my life is the personal time I was able to spend with Ann-Margret and her husband, Roger Smith. Though only a young man and family friend, they were always so welcoming, giving, and gracious. Completely engaging and interested in how I was doing and what I was up to.
So classy, loving, and warm while sitting at the absolute top of the entertainment food chain. This was when Ann-Margret was selling out weeks at the Hilton in Las Vegas and the city was crazy.
They have never left my mind as the barometer of how to treat people.
