    Ensure to avoid the index fingers and thumb and rotate the pricking site. I will ensure the window of the strip is completely covered with blood

    Hi I've just wanted to ask you, before pricking the patient's finger should I clean the finger with an alcohol swab ?

    Marking scheme, states ensure that site of piercing is rotated, is it before prick or after prick?

    • @OscarMartis
      @OscarMartis Před 9 měsíci

      Since it is a simulated exam you only verbalise about rotating the site each time

      Ask the patient if she has previously been prick and location. Say: I asked because I need to rotate the pricking site. This should be said before pricking patient. Also avoid pricking the thumb and index fingers.

    Well-done sir. Since you have removed your glooves when will reassess to see the blood has stop and swab is removed??

    • @gilbertmartis5547
      @gilbertmartis5547  Před 11 měsíci +1

      You can do this before you remove gloves, but in OSCE it is understood when giving cotton swab, you verbalise patient to press hold the cotton. Most patients generally throw the cotton away after few seconds ….
      Giving cotton is most important

      @@pauljonathan2761No . Mostly in UK , mask isn't needed unless performing respiratory related procedures such as suctioning.

    Window of the strip is covered with blood,if forget to verbalise it,will cause failure?

    • @gilbertmartis5547
      @gilbertmartis5547  Před 4 měsíci

      What’s the window of strip
      In the exam they give you a sample blood in a squeeze bottle. You squeeze one drop to the strip however it goes over or fills not to worry
      Ensure you hold it over the tray.
      Usually the strip takes in blood as much it needs to display result.

      Not necessarily if the pre procedural check & allergy was checked
      You can prepare and then come and introduce gain consent, explain and proceed.
