I had RNY gastric bypass on Monday June 13th, 2016 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. In this video I talk about my fifth week post-op which includes the foods I'm eating, how many calories and grams of protein I'm getting in, & what my activity has been. I also talk about going camping and food choices. Also about "coming out" to those in my life.

Great video also from Ontario!
Great job, Erin! Fantastic NSV with the belt.
Thanks Shauna!
I can really see it in your face already! Thank you for sharing your journey with us! You are doing so good!
Thanks Glitterbaby! Good luck on your upcoming surgery!
Hang on to that belt! What a great visual aid for you to see how far you've come. I'm in Ontario too. Going through Sudbury centre for appointments and surgery hopefully this fall in Toronto. Enjoy your posts!
Hey Di! So I guess you kinda know where I was talking about location wise at my parents trailer. I went to college back in 97-00 at Canadore & I visit Sturgeon Falls about once a year as well. Good luck with your own journey!
You are such a beautiful woman and your personality is amazing as well! Congratulations on the weight loss! Don't let a smaller loss get you down because as you pointed out how much waist you have lost, which is amazing! Your food sounds good, I'm having trouble getting my liquids in right now but I'm trying! Keep it up Erin and again congratulations on the loss!
Love the belt.. keep it so you can see it for pictures later.. Adore your face.. super proud of you
Aww, thanks Nirvana! I'm planning on keeping the belt for the entirety of this journey... will also be a good reminder of where I came from :)
you're doing great!!! I rely heavily on my scale and measuring cups too. I'm scared of over eating but then reality sets in and my pouch reminds me I can't overeat
lol, love the food scale and cups! and sounds like your pouch is being the good tool it's supposed to be as well :)
So glad to see you doing well and enjoyed your camping trip! Oh my god, the first time I ate some salad after surgery was about the same amount of time out and it was just as amazing as it sounded. I missed it so much, and still miss eating salads. Who would have every thought, haha! Congrats on your loss sweets!
Thanks Hun! Before this surgery I never would've craved a salad! lol
Really none of anyone's business why your losing weight. I can understand maybe telling someone who voices concern about your health but that person is already showing they care by asking. I don't think they would judge you in a negative way. I've told my husband and two sons. That's it!! No one else. As I think you already know, I'm on a very long wait list. I think as human beings we also want to share, get advice from those we trust and respect, and just in general tell people about our lives. If it were not for my you tube channel I probably would have told people hoping for their support but wouldn't have it. You Tube relieves that pressure to talk to those around me. This is such a supportive community. Good job on your weight loss to date :)
Thanks Schwigg! Yes, CZcams has been great! I know that if I "came out" most people would either be supportive or just not care... But it's those few rotten apples... lol... But I am happy with my choice to remain silent for now.
I'm craving a salad and I'm just one week out!!! Who would have thought, but the other. day I was craving peas.lol. Did you puree your food? That thought makes me nauseous. I have no pain and have not been sick once but I wretch every time I try to drink the shakes and they just go down my chin and into my sink. Yes, I stand by the sink just in case. Any suggestions? I want to eat real stuff not drink manufactured protein. I should sign this Debbie Downer.LOL
Denise
First - It will get better :) So don't worry about feeling down about these things!
Stick with the protein drinks for now (I watered my premier protein down because I found it too thick - this may help?) and once you are eating full food you'll be able to get more "real" protein in. But your body really does need it for now.
Mostly I just pureed chicken salad. Chicken, mayo, onion, salt & pepper with a bit of water so it would blend. It was boring but it got me through! Also soups got me through that stage.
Good luck Denise!
My plan says I can't have raw veg until 6 months out😩 I think after week 7 when I hit solid foods I'm gonna have to try a little bit. Im urging for a chicken, Apple and walnut salad 😈
oh, that salad sounds good too! What kind of dressing do you use for that?
+Erin RNY apple vinaigrette so so good
My family and some friends know I vlog, but no one knows my channel name. What you tell is your business. I hated that some co-workers that knew seemed to be watching what I ate...etc. cheryl
Oh, that would be so annoying!
Erin... are you naked? lmao jkkkkkk. so funny that you mentioned having a youtube channel but not being open about the surgery otherwise. idk why i'm not comfortable talking about it on facebook..i guess i prefer to keep it with people who are going thru the experience as well.
Hahaha! It's a strapless top, was hoping to get some sun on my shoulders that day 😜 I'm pretty sure no one from my "real life" will stumble across this & I'm not ready for that.
