I just had a thought, maybe if they want to leave the OG classes untouched, they want to introduce new classes that fill the Turn and Balanced niche but are much more viable? Maybe Drift is meant to be like a mix of what those should be? I dunno.

Yeah it is like a viable balanced class now. If you like the balance style but actually want to win shit, use drift
I dont get why they rework classes , add a new driving style even and then still have the wrong stats showcased for all except drift

I don't really care tbh. I learned what class I like to play as by just playing as them all, rather than look at the stats.
@@greatsageclok-roo9013 You've been saying this in my comment sections and in comment sections of other videos, yet have still provided absolutely nothing to support your claims outside of "I was able to beat my best time on Slide Coliseum, and I can't beat that time with any other class," which doesn't even tell us *what* time it is you posted as drift (as i said in a comment in my last video, simply beating one of your times doesn't really say anything if your previous times are bad. If that Slide Coliseum time you got with old Drift is anything above 1:44, it says nothing, as that time is easily doable with acceleration, and even easier with speed. just because *you* can't do it, doesn't mean its not possible)
All of your tests are being done *by hand* just like everyone else's, as there's no way currently to crack into source code and see these direct values yet. Simply discrediting video evidence and not providing video evidence yourself adds nothing to the topic and does nothing more than being annoying and making you look like an ass.
The testing for the "correct" stats of the original 4 classes were done by the time trial community, people that know the game inside and out. I'll take their word for it over some random person I've never heard of online who also hasn't provided any video evidence.
Until you actually piece together something valid, feel free to hop up out of my comment section. My heart isn't going to be broken if some argumentative person that makes unsupported claims stops watching my videos.
@@greatsageclok-roo9013 so like I said, no video proof, just a bunch of words. Furthermore it openly states that your tests were done by hand, so they're no more valid than anyone else's. In the end you're also still just making up the values for the stat bars based on what scale you think they are. When the time trialers did the tests for the original 4 classes, they found the acceleration and speed ratios between classes to be the same as OG, which had the stat bars you see in these "honest stats" posts, legitimately in the source code.

Well, with this test you solved one problem that I had.
I tested some things about reserves and the actual speed that you gain with every level of Fire (green, yellow, sacred, blue and super blue). This test shows that the % of speed added is the same in every class, so it simplifies a lot of things
Couple more months of updates and patches and I may actually go back to playing this game. Well done, YouTheDashy!

5:39 Can't you use that track from nitro kart that has warp portals (Hyper spaceway?) to line perfectly, since the portals reset your angle and position to that same one everytime you go trough them?
Hm, this would have actually been a pretty good idea. Doesn't matter too much though; 4 months too late, and the info was correct regardless.
Sad that the gimmick has been removed but at least we got good stats to compensate. As it stands now I think the order is as follows, from best to worst.
1. Speed; objectively best
2. Acceleration; forgiving class that still has good enough speed to compete.
3. Drift; shares the same big weaknesses as Speed/Accel, but allows for good speed and maneuverability to compensate for the punishing Acceleration stat.
4. Turn; can hold on to blue fire the best due to turn capabilities, but requires a pro behind the wheel to even come close to the other classes due to it's terrible speed.
5. Balance; terrible stats that do not really fill any niche that another class can't. Having a decent turn stat while being slightly faster than the Turn class is now irrelevant as Drift embodies this concept much better. Drift has made Balance nearly useless.
What if they switched around the speed stats for Balance and Acceleration so that they are correct?
(That's currently the only issue with the stat hierarchy; everything else is correct.)

Is more like a personal stuff for playing kart-racing games for more than 20 years using only "balanced" or Turn>Speed Or Turn>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Speed Classes... But, Well... With that New Turn Stat, maybe i try to test drift on cortex castle many times...

The thing is theres barely a difference between acceleration values so the accel stat means almost nothing. Drift is 2nd best if you ask me.

It does, it carried me in the n Tropy time trials. It’s pretty much the balanced class but actually viable.

I play as acceleration and drift class is going to be my new main class for now on. (I still have to switch into turning class in deep sea driving tho, haha! ) Dude your videos are great, keep it up! :)

Are you sure turning is that high though?
To make a turning test I think you should't start from zero speed.
If done like this the lower acceleration is, the better turning will look on paper because the class has more time to turn.

So is there anything that could be done for turning to make that class viable? Do you think the original drift mechanic of auto sacred fire would work for turning? I mean, getting 3 perfect boosts with a turning character is nearly impossible given how sharp they turn, but maybe that would help turn players. I play speed, but I'd love to experiment with other classes if they get new pros to the cons.
I wonder what it will look with blue fire. My question is: Does blue fire has the same speed for all classes or not? This test could be done at turbotrack maybe?
That flake is so annoying on speed class and when i first tested drift at the start of the grand prix. Glad the new dtats were tested as i had no clue about the old drift and new drift stats. But I knew better from an old video about balance's false stats.
Edit: I'll definitely use Drift to transition to speed eventually.
So the changes are really great to make drift good, but I still wish it had the yellow fire mechanic because I get spammed by items a lot and need to catch up

It definitely has its uses but I don't really see it being viable on most tracks, especially the straighter ones that benefit lower turn stats to maintain a powersliding line for triple boosts. From my own playtesting in both TT and Online matches I place it as the middle child of Accel and Speed. The lower Accel kills it for me since the speed isn't nearly as high enough to recover ground unlike the Speed class where you could make up a lot of ground very quickly once you get stopped by something.
If they took 1 stat bar of turn and added it to Acceleration then I would be much more incline to use it as an Accel replacement.

i might mess with it online a decent bit, because i do need to stop being stubborn and learn speed eventually to be more competitive with speedruns/time trials.
@@iTheDashy Yeah, I actually started CTR:NF with Penta (speed), and pretty much completed the adventure mode on medium, up until the Oxide race. Then I tried acceleration, and I was doing a lot better. It was at this time, when I was learning how to constantly use U-turns, and then I changed back to speed. I actually use U-turns a lot, and by a lot, I mean on pretty much every track. Good luck with learning the other classes.
First thanks a lot for the info, I really like this kind of content. Is a bit of a shame that we lost that special sacred fire but this made the class better in my opinion. Now, I wonder how will this affect the meta, we had speed as the fastest but harder to control and the accel that is a bit slower but had more turn, this class is faster now and has better control than accel. Will this make it better than it? Or is just a trade for the lack of acceleration?
To me i see the flick as an advantage more than a disadvantage. I can't play without it.
But the real question is: can the drift class make the turn on Dragon Mines???

I just wish the stats weren't misleading, and that they were all balanced and viable, so a turn class could beat a speed class... I saw someone suggest a bigger reserve penalty if a speed class tries to U-Turn, and also change the way the turn class' turning ranges work, I wish they listened...
Honestly of the 3 classes i like drift.. .even before the changes that medium between speed and accel is just right for me (hell i got 2 full carry laps of blue fire on electron avenue with drift... was hella satisfying).. .still annoys me that im seeing basically entirely full lobbies of speed thou :/

Im doing try outs in time trial, comparing all stats, and Dtift is for far the best stat... No question, I always win, by far...

On Switch version 1.0.8 Drift still has the sacred fire mechanic, maybe there wasn't an update for Switch yet...
Switch was confirmed to have a delayed patch. I think they said it'll be coming out next week.

Hmmm... It must of got tweaked again because the Drift class's handling, as of now, is equivalent to the Acceleration class's handling.

I'm honestly glad the sacred fire thing was removed. One class shouldn't be able to immediately recover from items while the others can't. Its either all of them can or none of them can, imo

You are able to pick class independent of character now. Drift was added with that update. No character is Drift class by default though.

The gimmick had some potential, honestly if it had granted a speed faster than other classes drift speed... it would’ve been a fair pick especially online.
Really though at the end of the day it seems speed is the deciding stat, which is a bit of a let down.

It didn’t get buffed, you guys just made assumptions on it being worst from day one instead of yknow using and practicing with it for a couple days to get a real opinion on it. It’s been better than all the other classes other than speed sense it came out it just has the worst accel out of every class but it’s just barley slower than speed.
But they literally mentioned in the update notes that they tweaked the class
