  • In this awesome footage, the girls all american baseball league is highlighted as they go through spring training in Alexandria, Virginia. The Fort Wayne Daisies and the Racine Bells are getting ready for the upcoming season. Dottie Schroeder, one of the most famous players from that era, is highlighted in the vintage footage.

    It was widely known that the girls hated those skirts and do you blame them. I don't ever recall seeing any professional male ball players wearing shorts to play ball.

      Actually they have. Look up the 70s White Sox, but point taken.

    This was probably 1951. The first year Pat Scott pitched for Fort Wayne in the AAGPBL.

      Kinda funny that they say ca. 1940 in the title considering the league didn't exist until 1943, Fort Wayne team didn't exist until 1945, and the League didn't have full overhand pitching until 1948. Lots of clues to narrow the date down further. Tip of the cap to you for knowledge right down to individual players!
