  • Testing out the Audio-Technica AT2040. This is a fun little mic for a nice price! I test it out on a podcast type of mix, voice over, and in the music mix for singing vocals.

    I was surprised by how well this rejected room noise, and also how much gain is required from my preamps. However, being the type of mic it is, I wasn't surprised about how much gain it required. What I was also surprised about was that even though I cranked the gain up... I still didn't notice a noisy noise floor. Awesome! So there's my review of sorts. I like it. And I'll probably keep it (for now), because it's the only dynamic mic I have right now!

      Fantsatic! Yeah, I love it. Way cheaper than the SM7B and doesn't require nearly the gain. It's a win-win. Glad you're enjoying it!

    Hey, awesome review there! What preamp did you use to boost the gain? or do I need one if I use focusrite solo?

    • @MintGreenAudio
      @MintGreenAudio  Před 2 lety +1

      I used just my UA Apollo solo. I honestly don’t see the need for a cloud-lifter or anything.

      @@MintGreenAudioGood day, May I know if you test it connect direct to mixer or PA system?

  • @authorgalahad

    sounds good can this mic be plugged directly into a karoke machine or is it to only be used on a computer

    • @MintGreenAudio
      @MintGreenAudio  Před 2 lety

      It's an XLR mic, so it's designed to be used with XLR cable. I know some Karaoke inputs are quarter inch, rather than XLR. So in that case you can find a cord that's quarter inch to XLR. Otherwise, a simple XLR cable should be good to go!

    What audio interface are you using with the AT2040? I was thinking of purchasing a motu m2 with an at2040, would that work?

    • @MintGreenAudio
      @MintGreenAudio  Před 3 lety

      I was using the UA Apollo Solo. But a lot of people love the M2! I Don't see why not!
