There’s such mutual respect between wazza and stevie, fills your heart
Faiz Syed Greats recognise greats
Faiz Syed i knew he would say gerrard. No matter who you support you know gerrard was one of the best ever
PietreADI shut ur mouth
@PietreADI Funny you say 3rd world country. As soon as BREXIT happenes England is gonna be a 3rd world country
@PietreADI stfu you melt
Gerrard is like the 'Roberto Duran' of football.. People talk about his losses/mistakes more than his great moments.
Such a shame.
I'm not even a Liverpool fan.
Top man Rooney.
Well said.
I know right. His slip gets mentioned more than so many of his glorious clutch goals and wins. West ham FA cup final 2006 for example.
Sad world we live in, where people get so much pleasure in being sadistic.
People talk about Roberto Durans wins over Leonard and Barkley and everyone talks about his goals in the ucl and fa cup final.
He won Liverpool the champions league
Overrated....!
@@mcdelive ...of course he is...
Rooney saying Gerrard is mind blowing to me - simply because of the rivalry at that time, a history of Everton & United, both clubs who are not fond of Liverpool but he pushes that aside to remain objective. I hated Rooney as a player simply because of how scary he was as an opponent, being a Liverpool fan. I hope he does a good job in his managerial career.
They’re good mates
How can you HATE a person just cos they good.
He was one of the best strikers in his prime.
He doesn't pick Scholes. Lol
Ynwa
Why, He recognises greatness, Regardless of club loyalty. I think Paul Scholes is the best player I have ever seen in my life and I support Liverpool. Anyone with any sense drops club loyalty out of any discussion on who was Great.
He’d always upset us, used to love scoring against Liverpool. Great player though, I miss seeing him play
The so called animosity between Liverpool and Everton doesn't come close to being what is between Liverpool and Utd. Familial banter is what occurs between Liverpool and Everton as you have so many families and friends split between the two. Liverpool and Utd is actual hatred, Mostly from the Mancs but a good deal of it from us as well. That should never preclude an opinion of who was a great footballer though.
Stevie pulled em through games . Gerard what a player what a player!!
Liverpool Legend
STEVEN GERRARD... a true legend.
Just like this man.
knew he was going to say him even before clicking on the video...
@@IIIIIIIIIIIIIIPKIIIIIIIIIIIIII scousers sticking together lol.

Steven Gerrard a world class player. He carried liverpool for years.
Wayne, Gerrard, Lampard, Gary, Beckham, Scholes, Carrick...what a fine selection you guys had in England.
You have to be proud !

Rival fans for once in your lifetime be not bias and use footballing brain. StevieG played for England too. He deserves more credit from football fans.
Quality player, brought his best for England every time
- Die-hard United supporter.
Stevie G was an excellent player. His problem is that he was heavily favored by the English fan/journalist mob, a mob who submit coaches routinely in England, during a generation that could have won everything if coaches had given the teams to Paul Scholes. In the end, England served Gerard's reputation and it costed them hardware. Involved in that a deep-seated aspect of resentment that cannot be wished away. He will always be the prince, for better and for worse, because sometimes the hero-worship hurts the people.
@@JAYDUB1279 shut up
Gerard was generally poor for England. He admits that in his book. He says it simply didn't mean as much to him as playing for Liverpool. His record as captain was woeful especially the debacle in South Africa!!!
@@KryptonitetoallBS your forgotten he had more world cup goals than anyone he was did his best for England heskey was picked for England tht was rubbish decision
He's a lot more intelligent than people give him credit for... I always hated how back in the day when he was young a fiesty he was often branded as this thick and ugly archetypal footballer because the way he read games and moved the ball showed very high intelligence that a lot of genetically gifted athletic players simply don't have. And you can see he has a lot of emotional intelligence from the way he carries himself off the pitch and how he talks about his family.
Dana Red people claim he’s not intelligent cus he has 0 gcses
Your grades mean nothing and secondly, Rooney has displayed significant intelligence throughout his career.
Well said
Agreed. There's a lot of "classism" in the media. It's fair game to attack working class lads
Sounds like the traits you would look for in a potential future manager???
ROONEY IS ONE OF THE BEST CENTRE FORWARDS EVER PLAYED!!! Congratulations pal all the best for your future.
The fact he's all time record goalscorer for Man United & England, & "doesn't really consider himself a goalscorer", tells you all you need to know about how talented he was!
Wow
Does it? How?
If you're really good at something & don't consider it your main strength within a certain field, the chances are you are also really good at other things within that field. Like Da Vinci not really considering himself a painter. @@mitchellandrews1015
Heart warming. Thank you Wayne from a PNE fan.
Fair play to Wayne for saying Gerrard was the best English player he played with just goes to show how good Stevie G was!!
But rooney said scholes was the best player he played with hmmm
baz 1973 in Manchester united
@@baz-ux9bv for England he means
Are these guys sportsmen? Both very short and overweight. What sport do they play ?
Honestly, I didnt like Rooney at all when he was at United, but now I've watched so many interviews of him and of course also of Stevie praising his abilities. It was never in doubt that Wayne is a fantastic player but seeing him talking now and feeling that respect between him and Stevie is so great to see. He talks intilligent and I really like him nowadays
Come on England let's give Rooney the send off he deserves
The last couple of sentences was on the money and appreciated by true footballl fans, someone that looked like they were desperate to play week in week out . The passion from this player, intensity and a love for the game, who ever you support, he is up there as one of the greatest players - personally still felt he had more in him. Loved watching this man
You worship him. You are in awe of him.
I’m a 43 year old Newcastle fan and I would say Gazza was England’s best player but it was Gerrard. Ronaldo aside Gerrard for me was the premier leagues best ever player. (Sorry shearer)
I remember watching lots of PL games back in the day with my pops as a kid.
Both of us loved MANU and Rooney damn!!!
This lad is the reason for lots of good memories
Rooney is such an underrated player. He was unbelievably good especially at such a young age. This coming from a Liverpool fan.
He will be honored to hear such praise from a Liverpool fan. I bet he shows his wife what you said. Your view will mean a lot to him bazz
I still think he is criminally underrated and I think he is underrated because people don't like him because of all the controversy that followed him. On the pitch he always played well, scoring, creating, all them goals and records and from around 27 year old me played as a midfielder, not a striker, one of the best of his generation.
What a good lad. A good example to others - especially kids.
Rooney was an absolute joy to watch in his prime. Top class player
Ex Everton and United player saying Gerrard is the best I think proves it
You are sad if that's what you take from the interview
TheShadowInmate that’s the biggest thing he said in the whole interview lol, you’re just salty cause he didn’t pick Scholes
He’s tryna say rather than acknowledging the respect Rooney has for gerrard, you somehow managed to turn it into a gerrard vs scholes debate
For the national team only. Not best English player overall.
Yeah he was better for the national team not on club level.
Gerrard was the best English midfielder to ever grace a football pitch. No one has or will be better IMO. His knowledge technique and will to win is so special. It doesn’t matter what he won it’s about how good he was with the players around him.
One of the best midfielders of any nation
Paul Scholes was better
Paul Sears nah Stevie was better bro
Paul Sears At passing maybe... but everything else? Gerrard.
Gerrard would carry a team and win you a game.. Scholes would ping a perfect pass from one end of the pitch to the other 😴 scholes was just another alonso type player who has been overrated ever since he retired 😂
Paul Gascoigne was the best.
great player loved when Ronaldo and him played toghter!100% here from Portugal
Wayne looks older than Gary.
Well done, lad.
Keith Hiew sunlight UV from USA
Top man Wayne. Worked on a few commercials with him. Top bloke.
Rooney deserves it he’s an England legend and a united legend he’s an icon in English football and that’s facts
Steven Gerrard was the most complete midfield of this generation.
totally disagree, he was not the best in passing or possession or creativity or controlling the game; Scholes was far better
@@ahmedzakikhan7639 give scholes a 2005's liverpool team and will he be able to lead and win the champions league ? Dont think so bro. Scholes was great because he was surrounded by player like tevez rooney cristiano carrick, giggs, not sinama pongolle neil mellor, smicer or dossena. If scholes was better, he would seal one spot in central midfield in england, instead of being placed as right midfielder to accomodate a spot for gerrard
He was selfish and cost Liverpool far more than he helped with that trait if he didn’t score the winner he didn’t care now Scholes was on another level miles ahead
@@rifqiah we wouldn’t have been in that position cos Scholes would be dominating lol your not too bright are you laddy

I knew Rooney was going to be the greatest English striker of our time when he scored that volley against Newcastle
Not on his champions league debut at 18 when he scores a hatrick no ?
@@jamesbond4884 ❤️
Gerrard was so so so good in his prime just coz he slipped at the age 30 something people think he wasn’t that good.
lmao nobody thinks that xD
to further expand on that...
Thats equal to saying something along the lines of because Luiz Suarez bit someone, means that he isnt a good footballer. There are various examples ... which all aren't true.
P K
right , a lot of people think that, there is a chant on it
and the Suarez example is out of stupidity the Gerard example could’ve happened to anyone.
@@littleboy1273 just because there is a chant doesnt take away from his ability... everyone knows Gerrard was the greatest. Both on and off the pitch.
Every football fan thinks he was a great. Only thing that kind of clouds things is he could have won more trophies. Won nothing at international level when we had a golden generation. Never won premier League. Did win a champions League almost on his own. Was loyal to one club who weren't quite ready to win the league.
Involved in over 80 goals for England in 117 games. Not too shabby. Great player.
I’m 28 and been a massive Liverpool fan my whole life just because I loved Steven Gerrard so much. At the time I would have hated it, but in hindsight it would have been nice to have seen Stevie leave and win trophies
I remember when he came on for his first game and scored for Everton. Savage goal. Great player.
Remember the name
What a cheeky dig at 4:20 at Neville (reminding him of Valencia)😂😂😂
Love the way he says Gary Neville
From a Scottish guy here.what a player he is.still
That was nice that he instinctively referred to his school and local area when shown a photo of himself. I don't think that was media training.
Bobby Charlton and Bobby Moore were great players for England winning the world cup.
Rooney is such a hardworking guy. I wish he could have won more international awards
Abusolute legend. Fully deserved his send off. Cheers Rooney for everything 👍
Wonder if Wayne sees the wishes and thumbs up you sent him. Why don’t you get down in your knees and beg him to give you an autograph
Don’t think there is enough respect on his name great player great captain
Nice seeing Rooney and Neville together
Of course he said gerrard. Any person with a footballing brain knows that Gerrard is the greatest English midfielder ever
JD 1 stfu u fool it's clearly Paul Scholes not no title Gerrard
Luke Biggs A united and everton legend has just called Gerrard the best english midfielder ever. Meanwhile Paul Scholes is kicking trees.
Luke Biggs Peter Crouch has more assists than That Ginger Nonce, overrated cause he played in such a good team while Gerrard and Lampard carried theres😂
@@DiaEgan101 Scholes has more goals than Crouch so...
@@lewis8494 He was a Liverpool fan.
Love Wazza, undeniable English and United legend. Much respect to him, this coming from an England and Spurs fan.
What’s the significance of “this coming from a spurs and England fan ? What is a spurs ?
Which one is Rooney? Are those little men soccer players ? Quite overweight they wouldn’t get away with that in my game of mma
What most people don’t know because it’s always overshadowed by Liverpool and Man Utd rivalry is the respect and admiration between Gerrard and Rooney. To be honest when I found out this long time ago I was surprised too
The legend Wayne Rooney
Damnit! Players youve ”hated” for such a long time seems so likeble when they end their carrers ;)
That 2006 World Cup England squad was stacked from the starters to the bench. Really should have won it all...
I don’t think English people realize that several other countries were going through a golden generation of their own right around that time. That English team was no more stacked than Italy for example
He's a Man U legend, speaking in an interview to another Man U legend, and said a Liverpool legend is the best he's played. Lol. Shows you how great Gerrard is. Nice lad, Rooney.
Record scorer for the one of th biggest clubs in the world and also his country, still underrated.
If you say he’s overrated etc you either don’t know football or you’re a Liverpool fan
so Liverpool fans know football
By far the best English footballer of all time in my opinion!!
Was and will always be my best player always, wazza.
England's golden generation should have won a major trophy. Incredible players.
None of them could dribble. Not one. Do you not know that?
Missing this team 2 legends
Never peaked early. He was playing since 16 so hit his peak younger than what everyone else did because they experience he gathered at a young age
4:35 you don’t know until you try. That’s true for Gary lol
Nice mention of Gerrard. Even as a Toffee and Former Manc, Rooney had the decency to know class when he saw it. Both Gerrard and Owen both spoke very highly of Rooney in their books.
He's doing some job for DC, some of the highlights have been ridiculous
Rooney will always be my idol, a legend
Scholes and gerrard played together consistently, and less relience on a 4.4.2., England would of been a force to be reckoned with. Alas what might have been.
Fully deserved memorial match.
Thank u Rooney for ur contributions, but at times he used to get angry though due to frustration. Still the best.
Australia beating England in England brings back great memories.
"Getting the boot off sir Bobby..." That's about right!!
That "Yeah" at 2:05 from Gary was priceless. So disappointed.
I would of loved that England team to get to the final. Italy reminded me of the old England
Gerrard wasn't just a player he was a team
Cringe
Rooney is underrated. How did the guy become top scorer of all time both in England and Manchester United? Clubs that had fiercest strikers in the world.
The man who make me love football ...ohhhhh wazza i really really really really really love u
Cracked me up when he said pep😂😂😂
Always respected Rooney
Gotta love wazza he dreamed big and achieved
THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER WAYNE ROONEY
The golden generation once discussed why they had failed .. it’s their ego and the stupid rivalry between clubs that caused it . They have only themselves to blame . Man Utd players sitting one table , Liverpool players sitting another table , Chelsea players sitting another table . There was no togetherness . Glad Gareth changed all that .
Foong June Meng A great manager would of handled that. Instead we had Sven and Maclaren. Capello got rid of that. Then Roy hogson happened.
With the amount of clowns in there. I can't wait to manage England myself.
It didnt stop spain did it 😂😂 England were a bunch of bottle jobs hahahaha
Wayne Rooney is on the top 3 list of greatest English Men alive and I personally believe this fifa card should be at an flat 95. This man is better than beckham hands down.
Rooney and Gerrard both far better than becks
Rooneys been on the scene for nearly two years. He’s scored goals wherever he’s gone. He’s the record goal scorer for the best club in the country’s history and for the national side, as well as the record outfield appearance holder. He’s won everything there is to win at club level, he’s scored in finals, he’s scored goals from the halfway line, from over his head to win derbies, pressure penalties. He’s done it all but and he SHOULD be in the bracket of “we were lucky to see him play”, he peaked early and United failure towards the end and Englands collective failure should take nothing away because he is the greatest player in England’s history
No he isn’t. He isn’t even top ten. I can think of 3 better than him in the current squad who have won nothing
Well done Wayne amazing career highest goal scorer in the derby witch still pisses me off haha
The last of his kind.
Roy of the Rovers with extra fire in his belly. His debut goal v Arsenal. His talk to the ref and volley v Newcastle. His bicycle kick against City. Comic book stuff.
Rooney 👏 from a Liverpool fan
Great man. Went my Nans once and he was on the sofa. No idea why but he seemed pleasant enough
😂😂😂
I’m Liverpool fan, Rooney was a great player who worked hard for the team, towards the end of his United career he was a shadow of himself (but that’s the norm on great players near the later part of their playing days) . Well done Wayne (England top scorer ever). Ps Gerrard was better tho
Rooney is a LEGEND
Bald Rooney and Skinny Ronaldo were absolute monsters for UTD. People talk abt Mbappe Haaland but these went toe to toe in toughest league against Arsenal Invincible and Mou Chelsea era.
Rooney had bags of ability, that much is undeniable, it's why Ferguson showed so much patience. It's a shame he never reached the world class potential he clearly had. And I always found it surprising that Fergie put up with so many drops in Rooney's form, the fitness/weight problems, his attempts to force a move to Chelsea (twice), his holding the club to ransom for wage increases. I think about the hard line that he took with players who were arguably more talented than Rooney, or at the very least were more consistent, such as Stam, Van Nistelrooy, Keane, Beckham, plus other players who were dropped as soon as their form dipped. For that reason, it was obvious that Fergie's personal relationship with Wayne is what prevented the manager forcing him out, which is similar to how Fergie treated Cantona
Boy was Rooney king once and he bashed them in easy. Can't belive his playing career nearing its end. I had the tops with his name on it!
Being a united fan, Gerrard in the squad was key. Only if Scholes was in international we would have been so much stronger as an English side.
I struggle to get behind the new kids on the block but we better start appreciating them now coz before you know it they too would see the end of the line.
Time just goes too quickly......
Rooney managing Everton 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
One of the greatest could do it all
Good luck to him.
Always have a lot of respect for Rooney. Only annoying thing here is that he doesn't mention Poch. Pep understandably but Klopp hasn't done too much with English players bar maybe Gomez. Poch on the other hand has kicked off the high press in England. He's produced the spine of the England team (Walker, Rose, Dier, Alli, Kane, Trippier, Winks)
You’re annoyed because he didn’t mention poch. From this I presume your wife is an undersatisfied woman? I wasnt annoyed he didn’t mention poch. That wasn’t an issue to me
Records speak for itself enough said
He’s right, if he didn’t get injured we would’ve won euro 2004. What a player he was
Reminds me of Gascoigne endlessly living in the past. These guys had their day time for a freshen up I’ve seen and heard enough of these guys really. Yeah? Everyone feeling much the same?
They were great in England team, Stevie and Wayne. I am a Liverpool supporter but it was my first guess after reading the title. Any guy of his generation with proper footballing sense and no partiality would answer the same I think.
Oh miss that time..
Clever bloke , doesn't get the credit he deserves . Definitely up the with Uniteds best .
Liking this because he said Gerrard
I miss players like Rooney you don’t miss them until there gone
