I believe both cops got fired.
One got 30 months probation plus 100 hours community service
Other cop got a 12 month deferred sentence that will be wiped clean if he stays out of trouble.
Lawsuit from the injured person has not yet been settled.
What a fucking bunch of trigger happy idiots in the states, the whole process of arresting somebody is so exorbitant in a way that it's ridiculous. Happy that I don't live there

I'm genuinely amazed she survived. This would have felt like running into a brick wall at 80 mph. You can hear the train horn like 30 seconds before the impact.
Shows how evil these cops are when they they are still laughing after the incident while going through her stuff.

It seems that's all they cared about was to find something to charge her with whether she was dead or alive.. so sad
So very sorry for this woman. I pray for her recovery. I can’t believe someone who doesn’t even think twice about parking on the train track is a real police officer. This officer should be in jail.
Actually mindblowing. Wouldn't they think, for just for one second, that maybe tracks aren't a particularly safe place? I mean the incompetence.... Wow.
This woman absolutely deserves to win this lawsuit. They should have moved the car as soon as she was put in in. There were enough officers to both secure the scene AND move the vehicle out of harms way. And the train horn was very audible long before the accident and it could have been prevented. I hope she makes both a full recovery and a successful lawsuit. She deserves it in this case

I live 20 min from this town. Drive down that HW85 all time. So many vehicles get hit on those tracks in that area. Have no idea why
Police wonder why the general public is weary and twitchy about them on the road, this is a prime example. You never know when you'll be detained in a squad car about to get hit by a train.
The lack of care before the accident is one thing, but the total indifference for the woman's health after their careless act, is just callous. The officers are concerned with finding evidence instead of being compassionate about how she's doing. I think the average person would be distraught if their actions caused the harm.
