Sounds like, to be safe, it's best to fully load into the story first, then edit settings. Do not do it from the main menu first thing, or else your settings may not save.
How do you cap at 40 fps? I only have 60, 30, and 15
@@Dim.inished me too I can adjust it to 40
@@Dim.inished Set the max refresh rate to 40. Then you can also cap the FPS at 40.
can u play this game on the go
This tutorial has helped me a lot! I've been getting consistent FPS in the 40s/50s on my 1080p monitor and it looks great! Thanks bro!
Happy I found this looking forward to seeing more of your work from here man appreciate ya ✊🏾
Settings worked as advertised! Big thanks!!
Thanks Jim! The game looks much better with your help!
Thank your for this video I couldn’t figure out why my settings weren’t saving lol I’m using the settings you suggested and it looks and runs great. I have it capped at 40fps and get 4 hours on the steamdeck oled!! But I’m surprised that it ran at a solid 60fps as well without any dips! I’m about to finally begin my first pay through! Red Dead 2 is next!
Hands down the best settings I’ve seen on the steam deck. Thanks for taking your time to make this.
🙏
Great settings, video focused on desk objects not Deck screen 😢
this video really was helpful thank you so much my gta v on steam deck look a lot better than when I first tried it out on steam deck it was looking bad now it looks great thank you I know I'm later to your page I watch a lot of videos on youtube just to learn so much about the steam deck and other stuff too but I really like video games so I watch everything that has to do with gaming news lol but yeah that what I like and I'm new on steam so this video was definitely helpful thank you so much
I highly recommend making the shader and shadow at high or normal if you want. Leaving it at high with very high textures a allows for all the other settings to be at high and not normal leading to a more balanced expirence
Don't put shaders on normal because then anisotropic filtering won't work and tge road will be a blurry mess even with very high textures
Worked great for me gaming from 100-4% no issues besides it looking like it didn’t save graphic settings when restarting game and going to advance. But when I jumped into game it saved the graphic settings when I looked in game. Thanks everything looks performs awesome! So fun on the deck
Great video thank you
Thanks brother❤
Thank you made such a difference
As if writing, when using proton on experimental settings and you choose direct-x 11 instead of 10 or 10.1, the game runs flawlessly at around 80-90fps in most areas and down to 70 in busier scenes with default settings and MSAA off.
on my OLED I have it locked to 60 so that I can enjoy a constant 60 without stuttering and even less fan noise.
Are you operating this on steam os or are you dual booting to windows and running it through there? Having an issue rn where I can’t sign into rockstar because the keyboard doesn’t pop up
Thanks this worked great, when I first booted up it looked like it was being stream on a calculator lol.
Thank you so much man. I dumped about 25 hours in then the game suddenly started crashing. Didn't change anything. No idea why. I reinstalled the game and tried your settings, and not only has the crashing stopped but its running so much more smoothly for me. Thank you. Fantastic video
thanks maan!! big differnce on my SD
Thanks bro🙏
Population density is set to the lowest setting.. which completely changes the feel of the game for the worse.
That's the one setting I couldn't follow. Mine is set to max. Population density is life in Los Santos.
No it doesn't
@@557deadpoolyes it does? Why would you want to play an open world game with an empty population
You can bump that up. If your framerate starts to suffer you can bump down shader quality to high from very high. On a small screen you won’t see the differences much in shader/texture quality between high and very high. I have population density up a little over halfway, and it looks and runs great
@@majinxx6272especially a Rockstar game, where half of the fun is in hearing the NPCs dialogue as you go by, or seeing them get in the way and get run over/blown up
I got nervous because I did the settings first thing loading the game - each time it rebooted I had to do it again as it didn’t save the settings.
I thought ‘oh no!’ But after playing initial missions I checked and it actually did save.
And correct! It is pretty consistently 40fps! Thanks!!
Thx i can finally play on my steam dexk
Thanks I've got a solid 40fps now which I'm happy with
I dont have gta5 het om steamdeck but Thx for the video maybe i buy it when ever
"IMPORTANT," I found out what was the freezing and crashing problem I was having. After doing all the changes you want and save it, go back to "Full-screen" mode, turns out all the bugs was related to borderless window mode.
Everytime I save and it restarts it shoots it back to the default settings.
Do you have any problems with textures not loading and then the game crashing after a couple of minutes? Also are you using any proton?
I haven't had this problem, and for this game I left proton settings alone. You can try different proton versions, but verifying the game files or just reinstalling may fix the issue.
@@SuperHappyJim Had the game installed twice before, maybe i should try without proton bcs I always have it on or i could just play around with other versions of it, maybe third time's the charm
@@dige1128 Sorry I can't help more. Let me know if you find a solution!
@@SuperHappyJim alright, ima check and see what i can do, ill also check out these settings if the game lets me, thanks
I don't know what happened, but ever since I followed this settings, something got messed up, and now I get the mouse cursor blinking on screen, but I play with a controller (that's on my main PC by the way)
Also, the game keeps crashing while in single player, when I try to save the game on the phone, also happened online when closing the options menu, it just froze as well
I don't know what to do now, as I think it's something in the game. It used to work great, and I even switched back to Chimera os, but the problem still persists and I think it has something to do with that blinking cursor on the screen
This is the only game giving me this problem, everything else works fine
I ended up doing all your settings and saving but my game keeps freeze if every time I get on and off the map other than that it runs flawlessly
After saving your settings, try switching back to Fullscreen before opening the map. Let me know if that keeps your setting *and* stops the crashing.
Will this help me with the game every time I go to the map and back out the map it crashes the game or freezes or any advice
Same problem I'm having now after following this settings
Can you start this game without internet for the second time playing?
I want to play GTA5 offline story mode on the Deck without using internet, once I install.
Worked for me no problem the first time without internet. However, I've heard your mileage may vary. If you have something like a flight coming up, it's best to test it while you still have internet at home. If you have any issues, things like switching the wi-fi off (as opposed to putting the Deck in *Offline Mode*) or Forcing "Proton Experimental" under the Compatibility settings for GTA V can help.
@@SuperHappyJim Thank you for replying. Other person said even after succeeded in starting GTA5 offline for once, the game required internet to start a few weeks later. So it seems we can’t play GTA5 indefinitely offline.
@@lumina4887 welp it is technically possible to play it offline forever but it requires to do some not so legal stuff. I mean if you already bought the game, that will perhaps save you from the guilt of doing what captain Jack Sparrow does
@@JerwinAngelo yeah they basically telling you to pirate the game you brought.
you do not need internet to run gta V ever, there isn't any checks at all
The memory leak bug in GTA V literally makes all of this pointless since the game just isn't playable for very long on systems with less than 32GB of ram. And it is a memory leak, idgaf what bullshit people say. When an application rapidly devours memory until it fucking crashes itself or the system that is a memory leak. Period.
Can play online through steam OS?
yes
i wish you had shown the temp
I too play gta5 on my steam deck
I don't see 40 FPS lock as an option. I see 30 and 60, but not 40. It's still smooth, though.
You set it as 60 in game, then set a 40fps/hz lock in the deck settings
@@kylixion_6359 I finally figured it out. I had to change the refresh rate first and then it let me change the FPS.
Anybody else having bad crashing issues?
I am, and it started after following this adjustments to the settings, now I even switched the operating system, but the problem followed it seems. I play on regular PC by the way, but I'm afraid of playing on the Deck and have this issue follow to the Deck too
I'm stuck with a blinking mouse cursor on my screen, but I play with a controller
Is there anyway to get UI elements like the radio stations and the phone to be clearer? They are a pixelated mess on mine
I'm not positive, but if you have half-rate shading on, it can cause issues like this.
Bro i got high settings... ffsr and getting stable 60 fps
same
The Oled runs it at 60fps
Risk of rain video when
On steam deck?
Idk I just can't do sub 60 fps on this game it plays awful
i bought it recently on stam didnt change no settings and i played like 5hrs straight online with 60fps
Can you please tell me how to crouch or take cover on steam deck gta5 I’m new to the steam deck and I just can’t figure it out 🫤
Gta 5 doesn't work that's a lie. It crashes all the time even with settings turn down to low. The steam deck is a heaping pile of junk and I have smashed it up.
It plays fine on my Steam Deck with SteamOS but not when I had Windows on it.
@Steam Deck Gamer mine won't even launch. It throws me back to the launch title screen. The steam deck is a waste of space end of!
@@jordanbrooke5393 Unless the device is defective I'm sure you can troubleshoot it. Maybe try reinstalling the game, or do a factory reset. It runs beautifully here.
@Steam Deck Gamer no I'm going to cut my loses and sell it when I repair it. I can't be bothered to mess around with the settings just to get the game to work. I want something I can just plug in and play. Steam os is is a bug ridden mess. I might go and get the Asus Rog alley.
@Steam Deck Gamer I tried gta 5 on my friends steam deck and it won't launch. The steam deck is a piece of junk
