"A Song of Ice and Fire (commonly abbreviated as ASoIaF) is an ongoing series of epic fantasy novels by American novelist and screenwriter George R. R. Martin. Martin began writing the series in 1991 and the first volume was published in 1996.
The story of A Song of Ice and Fire takes place in a fictional world, primarily on a continent called Westeros but also on a large landmass to the east, known as Essos. Most of the characters are human but as the series progresses others are introduced, such as the cold and menacing supernatural Others from the far North and fire-breathing dragons from the East, both thought to be extinct by the humans of the story. There are three principal story lines in the series: the chronicling of a dynastic civil war for control of Westeros among several competing families; the rising threat of the Others, who dwell beyond an immense wall of ice that forms Westeros' northern border; and the ambition of Daenerys Targaryen, the exiled daughter of a king who was murdered in another civil war fifteen years before, to return to Westeros and claim her rightful throne. As the series progresses, the three story lines become increasingly interwoven and dependent upon each other."

Based on parts of Martin's 2018 book Fire & Blood, the series begins about 100 years after the Seven Kingdoms are united by the Targaryen Conquest, nearly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen. Featuring an ensemble cast, the show portrays the events leading up to the beginning of the decline of House Targaryen, a devastating war of succession known as the "Dance of the Dragons"."

I think that “most interesting shot” might be part of Daemon’s weird Harrenhal dreams, perhaps remembering his time in the Stepstones. It looks like the person is stepping into the water like a door, probably as a cool transition between scenarios in Daemon’s dream. I can’t wait to see them do weird dream shit like in the books!! 🥳

@@demirkazanasmaz6097 Targaryens in general have weird prophetic dreams. Dany and Jon have a bunch of them, Daenys The Dreamer, Daeron The Drunken, Daemon II Blackfyre, Aerion Brightflame and Egg all have them too and they didn’t all have a witch-lady near them (Dany had Mirri near her but she had dragon dreams long before she met her and long after she died). I imagine Daemon might end up convinced about the prophecy through these dreams and end up more loyal to Rhaenyra since he’s pretty much a loose cannon right now

Hess was the lead producer for episode 9 season 1, the infamous Rhaenys and Meleys bursting through the floor scene. Great girl boss moment on paper… illogical in practice and didn’t take place in the book. Her grasp on the source material is very questionable.
@@hdheh1582 it was her writing material that ruined Aegon's coronation and making Rhaenys commit a mass killing which was perhaps the first blow of war from the blacks. They are making it seem like killing the masses isn't a bad thing if the blacks are doing it. Because she says later to Rhaenyra and daemon that "it isn't her war to begin" which is so contradictory to her actions. If something like that happened in the books then it would be counted as a first blow from team black. But apparently Rhaenys doesn't think so. Bad writing. RR Martin would've never.

I’ve heard this same comment about Cole riding the woods so many times but tell me do you stay in the open and break out the shield? Or do you ride to cover to break sight and possibly get tree shielding …. Granted burst straight from above your toast but then your screwed out in the open for sure

Given Alyn’s age, do you think they’ll change Elaena’s relationship with him assuming they ever adapt it? Elaena’s dad is still a baby at the point that Alyn seems to be 30+ so having a 60-70 year old lover would be quite odd
hopefully they do, not only is the age difference heinous, but i never liked Alyn cheating on Baela, just didn’t seem right for him after how much he respected and valued his brother for staying loyal to Rhaenyra’s cause and vows.

They suppose to be hating each other at this point not trying to make the war end more peacefully. They made Alicent and Rhy too sympathetic imo, these people are suppose to be psycho royals like back in the day, just getting all the peasants killed for their ambitions thinking they have some divine right, not "oh I don't want to win the war like this, we where friends! Boo Hoo" Their friendship should be beyond hatred they should be trying to win by any means necessary. Kill or be killed rules and defeat shouldn't even be on their mind, still good I just feel like we should be fine with all of them dying not hoping our team is going to win.

Irrc Aegon dragged Aemond to the brothel when he was freakin' 13. In 9x01, he looked embarrassed and uncomfortable around the Madame, and he apparently trusts the lady from the trailer. Also, the mysterious woman wears dark, modest dress and simple, golden ring we can spot on Alicent's hand when she's hugging Helaena in ep 8, se1. I think Alicent's the mysterious lady.

I have a very bad feeling they're going to screw this show up. It's already bad that they haven't included Daeron and they're already missing the point of the book by seemingly making Rhaenyra to be the obvious good guy and Aegon the bad
while the book has themes of anti-monarchy and anti-dynastic power, it is also about how targaryens shot themselves in the foot by sticking to male primogeniture succession. the obsessive need for male heirs repeatedly caused fractures finally leading to this succession crisis. the show is engaging with that aspect of the book.
@@Rumkeez It's mostly a critique on the idea of "right to rule" than anything else. Rhaenyra is basically portrayed as no better than Aegon in the book.
@@rexblade504 as it's an in-universe account of targaryen history, we have to consider the biases (and the misogyny) of maesters who recorded these histories. that's why we have three different accounts of the same event and often none of these are the complete truth. rhaenyra being the first female ruler will color how she is remembered in history. not saying that she was actually perfect (even the show's not saying that) but it would make sense that she would be more one-note and her contributions reduced or not recorded.
Yeah. It really is weird. While HotD was airing, I think I was just so happy it wasn't complete trash that I gave it a pass on so many stupid choices the show runners made and enjoyed it. However as more time passes and I think back to season 1, the less I like it and the more I see the cracks ALREADY showing. Everything from the coronation, to whitewashing Rhaenyra and all of her negative actions given to Daemon instead, Daemon murdering his wife in the dumbest way possible, to the stupid coronation, to Alicient constantly flip flopping on the civil war she just started, to Criston Cole's entire portrayal as an emo scorned lover instead of the infamous and legendary Kingmaker that Jaime would think back on, to the stupid Aegon's prophecy whitewashing his conquest, etc etc. I will watch season 2, but I will probably watch it with readiness to drop it if it doesn't significantly increase in quality.
Gone is nuance on the early seasons of GoT which starkly and harshly showed the audience that there was no good or bad, just people in power making moves and mistakes and the consequences of those moves.

I love Aegon the Second, I was always a team black, and I still see them as in the right if not the good guys, but I hate that helmet they gave him, why, why did they have to give him that giant clunky helmet, he would have looked so much better with no helmet and his long white hair(kinda like Arthas or Elric), or just the Aegon the conqueror crown alone, why does game of thrones always have unrealistic and clunky armor that looks like it is made from plastic, I still love the show, this is just a minor gripe of mine. Nothing but love for the whole cast and crew regardless.

I think this series will clarify Daenerys going crazy. Maybe Rhanera will curse the realm to get the blessing of womans rule. Rhaenera will curse the three eggs so it will effect the one that rides that hatches from it. Just saying. Dont blame me if it becomes true.
