Hi everyone! You can read this little comment I wrote that might explain or get you to the mood of the themes in terms of the instrumentations! So feel free to read it while listening!
Phase 1 : I was inspired by La Signora’s rhythm of the Cello and Double Basses to give a sense of danger and caution towards the traveller (or us as the player). The usage of piano not long after the intro was to give the abyss vibe since Dainsleif is heavily related to the abyss. The whole strings section was playing in a staccato style was to give a feeling of being in danger throughout the fight, on the other hand I also used a couple of brass and woodwinds to symbolise the traveller, it is also to give a sign of hope in the battle.
Phase 2 : Now in this theme there’s so much things going on! It started off with a similar rhythm as how the phase 1 ended. However, I immediately changed the mood of the theme and borrowed the melody of an existing genshin theme which is called “The Wind Catcher from a Foreign Land”. The reason I used this theme is to give a sense of heroic and to give a feeling of hope that we might actually beat Dainsleif. As we move on to the next session where there are brass and an introduction of melody, I purposely modified the previous melody but I composed it in a more mellow/melancholic way, this is also why the next section is more of a solemn (the part where there’s only solo trumpets and oboe with strings in the background) I wanted to emphasise more on our feeling towards Dainsleif in this part. Dainsleif is someone we know for quite some time, while he might be mysterious but he did help us in several occasions, therefore this section is emphasising more on how the traveller do not want to fight Dainsleif but he/she is forced to do it.
The next section is a build up and slowly introducing the melody as it progresses, this is to give a feeling of heroism and slowly but surely beating Dainsleif. However.. the last part where there was a brass and a hit of percussion was there with the intention of making us think “did we really beat Dainsleif or not” or maybe we failed to beat him?
So that is my thought process of making these two phases themes, I hope you enjoyed listening to it as much as I enjoyed producing these pieces. Thank you and have a great day everyone!😁

*Phase 1:* Dainsleif at first uses his Void powers to attack from a long and short distance.
*Phase 2:* His mask fall off from his face. And yet, he gets up again and put his mask back, he summon his sword and summon his dark power forth.

This is a good one! I did imagine how we will fight dainsleif but that quote really suits the vibe here!

Pretty sure it's not a mask and instead is how his body is getting more and more abysslike as the curse goes on and on as we can see in his right arm, but this would be so cool, I'm dying to see his cutscenes in a boss fight

*Phase 3:* Dainsleif knows all your characters skills and how to counter them. He know their weaknesses and their strenght.

His Element would be interessting.. i think that they add light and shadow too.. endgame content maybe, because at the first battle showcase at beginning of game aether and lumine has angel wings
And they had lost they're Power.. i think that they can switch this Power too later in game.. this game has so much for US to come.. omg! When natlan nd snez appear, Goodbye with this music.. it would be very interessting, if we can beat some dragons maybe later in some Region ^^ and does a ultimate challenge to players and Connect more with open World maybe ** ❤❤❤❤

damn i really think it's gonna be a battle with an really intense emotional impact, since just like Paimon, Dain also is our "partner" since the beginning of the game till the end
My thoughts exactly! If we ever fight against Dainsleif it will be such an emotional fight, I hope we can witness that sometime in the future!

The 2nd phase gives me the feeling of the honor of a fallen Royal Guard who failed to protect his homeland long before...
This is the most convincing fan theme i've heard especially the first one

Phase 1 feels like we're fighting the ghost that Dainslief currently is, disillusioned from the world, broken but desensitized to it, merely a wandering soul shrouded in darkness
Phase 2 feels like we're getting a glimpse of Dainslief in his former glory, Dainslief the Twilight Sword, Captain of the Royal Guard of Khaenri'ah, as if Dainslief decided to once again bear the honor he once had, either out of respect to the traveler he's fighting or as a last stand as the "last" living legacy of his homeland
Also, it's a boss fight but it doesn't sound threatening or dangerous like the other boss themes we have so far: with signiora, raiden, childe and azdaha you're either facing a very ancient corruption or an extremely dangerous adversary you have to beat or there will be dire consequences, you cannot lose or it could possibly cost you your life; andrius means strictly business, he's an old ghost of a god that helps you train to get stronger, so there's no real sense of danger when it comes to his theme, just "Oh shit ok i better do good to get good grades from teacher"
But this dainsleif fan theme kind of has a dvalin vibe for me, where you're not trying to vanquish a perceived evil/wrongdoer, you're facing, possibly trying to save, an old friend
Uff, now I'm paralleling him with Artorias. SHIIIIIIIIIIIIID.
How I think the boss fight will work:
- You can only use Traveler
- You can use all elements at once
- You will be fighting: Abyss mages, Abyss Heralds, and Abyss Lectors before you fight the next phase of Dainsleif
This reminded me of that one video a long time ago, where someone made the traveller fight paimon and the switching party members button were changed to the elements the traveller can control. That would be hype!
and i hope all of traveler's elemental burst, become elemental skill, and he got new elemental burst with animation

Phase two was like dain remembering all the memories of the abyss sibling and khanrieah.
Exactly! I purposely made it to have this bittersweet feeling for Dain towards the traveller. Dain witnessed all the improvements and development of the traveller and it's tragic that he has to fight the traveller in the end. I hope you you enjoyed listening to it!

In my opinion, I think Dain's fight should have the third phase. The second phase should be the hardest phase while the third is more like a glorious phase (focus on music rather then gameplay) Like how BOTW's final boss.

I just realized that if dainsleif was a boss and or a playable character his weapon would probably be the ascended sword of descention cause it really matches his outfit and design
nah, for some reason I've always seen him as a claymore user, not a longsword. Dunno why

Dainsleif, the fallen knight from the fallen kingdom
i imagine the fight will start with dainsleif moving very little, and he doesnt use his right hand at all. his attack doesnt hurt too much, and he was trying to convince us to give up fighting him. then when phase two hit, he start by punching his right hand to the floor, creating a whole new dimesion and start unleashing powerful hit. those are not hard to dodge, but you HAVE to dodge or he oneshot you. i will love it if you cant his attack. if the fight go on for too long, he will continuously attack at rapid speed, so fast that you can do nothing but dodging for a while. when you finally defeat him, a small version of the irminsul tree will grow where he fall.
Hoyoverse you better read this and make this official haha, also was it his right or left hand that has those abyss looking power?
I imagine we gonna fight dainsleif not as an actual enemy boss but more of a test to see if we are ready for the real enemy, the big battle. I actually want that it reminds me of something but I can't remember what
Does it remind you of when yae miko trains the traveller for the fight against raiden shogun maybe?
Ahh yes this was what I had in mind as well, I remember that training was way harder than fighting Ei herself hahah
@@elliotgibsonroberts6672 no like from a different game there was a similar scenario where this character (not a villain) stopped the main character from progressing only to have a boss battle with that character but not as an enemy but as a test to see if u really are worthy
@@sechikirigaya2802 Toriel from Undertale? Hornet from Hollow Knight? They both fight the player to see if they're worthy.

Before the fight:
Dainsleif: You have finally come, Traveler. Or I should say, Aether.
Aether: What do you need from me Dainsleif?
Dainsleif: Is it impossible to change anything and are the people unable to fight back against the gods? Is revenge the only answer to injustice and discrimination?
Aether: Where are you going with this, Dainsleif?
Dainsleif: Your sister and the abyss order plotted to destroy Teyvat, and soon their plan will carry out. Although I despise the archons, I will not allow the people of Teyvat to suffer in this conflict. The Divine destroys those who questions their power and their motives and challenges them. Now, you have to fight me since you will save your sister from the Abyss and then fate will be yours to re-weave.
Aether? Why do I have to fight you Dainsleif? Don't make me do this. You are not a bad person.
Dainsleif: I am afraid there is no other way, Aether. I know that you are powerful enough to fight me.
Aether: Okay Dainsleif (reluctantly agrees).
Phase I
Dainsleif: We have to end this.
The fight will be sword fights between Aether and Dainsleif. Dainsleif will also launch abyss powers against the Traveler.
Phase II
Dainsleif: As I thought, your powers are no match for me, Aether. I reckon even the Seven Archons cannot win the fight against you. Now, you will face the true power of the Captain of the Royal Guard of Khaenri’ah! (With an echoed voice).
Dainsleif has become a lot more powerful. Aether will have to dodge his attacks and make sure he does not dodge his attacks (since Dainsleif is using his portals to avoid the attacks). Dainsleif is also shown using the power of all the seven elements without a vision, shocking Aether. With this, Aether keeps on fighting.
Dainsleif: This will be our last fight, Aether! Now, show me your true powers and that you are worthy enough to save your sibling and Teyvat. Everything will be decided here! (He says it with an echoed voice).
After Phase II, the playable fight is finished, but the fight is still ongoing...
The Cutscene
Aether and Dainsleif are still fighting. Suddenly, Dainsleif throws Aether and Aether lands 60m away from Dainsleif, but he rushed towards him through his strength and determination. The Traveler and the Captain of the Royal Guards of Khaenri'ah squared off one last time. Each of their blows, and strikes created big blasts (it is like they are in an abyssal arena). The battle almost looked like tanks firing at night when they are near at each other. The colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, light blue, purple and white (which is the color of the seven elements except for the white one) have illuminated the Sea of Flowers. With this, Aether thought that he has faced someone who is much more powerful than any enemy he faced on Teyvat. Suddenly, Aether got exhausted and Dainsleif throws him away with his abyssal push and Aether lands 30m away from Dainsleif. Aether then remembers the flashbacks of the Genshin events like the Windblume, Lantern Rite, Irodori Festival and other festivals and events and the happy moments he had with other Genshin characters.
He also hears voices of his friends in his mind (which caused him to be more determined to fight):
- Amber: Thank you Aether. Let's go for some sticky honey roast. Let's go.
- Jean: From this day onwards, my honor and loyalty lie with you.
- Barbara: Thank you so much Traveler. *giggles*
- Lisa: Thanks cutie. You made my day.
- Diluc: I owe you my thanks, Aether.
- Fischl: Even at the last, when I bring the lightning of retribution upon this world, you shall come to no harm, for thou art blessed by the Prinzessin.
- Sucrose: I'd love to hear any stories you have about your adventures. I'd... really like that.
- Klee: You are my bestest friend ever Aether.
- Venti: The wind will lead you Traveler.
- Zhongli: You are capable of finding them and bringing them into the light. As long as you firmly believe that you are on the right path... everything has meaning.
- Tartaglia: One day, I shall conquer the world Aether.
- Beidou: Join me in an adventure. I got your back.
- Kazuha: Let us journey together for a time.
- Ayaka: I will keep you in my prayers Traveler. Your wish will surely come true.
- Yoimiya: Friends are forever.
- Kokomi: Let's go for a stroll on the evening.
- Itto: Feel the power of Arataki Numero Uno Itto!
- Gorou: We will defend those who fight alongside with us.
- Collei: My real superpower is all about the adventure experience I've had with you. Thank you Traveler.
After that, Aether (with his strength and determination) becomes very powerful and unleashes a huge knockout blow with his "Light" element on Dainsleif, causing him to land 500m away from Aether.
Dainsleif (when he gets knocked out): AAGGHH!!!!!
After the whole fight scene. Aether will run towards a defeated and weakened Dainsleif. And the cutscene will be emotional.
Itera's "power of friendship" buff would be a terrible cliché

Sure! I mainly use Albion One for my spiccato double bass and cellos, while for the violas and violins I use Audio Imperia’s Nucleus, and for brass as well. While for the percussions I use a mix of Action Strike and Heavyocity’s Damage
@@FarabiHasanMusic Thanks so much! I've recently started composing, but I wasn't sure which instrument libraries to go with, so this was really helpful
No problem! I suggest watching several youtube videos that showcases instrument libraries/plugins. Also, if you want to experiment and just get the feeling of how it works, you can download Spitfire Audio's Labs, they have various free orchestral libraries that you can use. My reason for this is that orchestral plugins are sometimes very tricky in the MIDI, especially with brass and strings since they have different attacks, so if you just quantise it, it wouldn't guarantee being on time, sometimes it's off.
I apologise if this might be overwhelming haha but I always love helping and seeing people start composing/producing! I'm looking forward if to your compositions if you are planning to release it on youtube! I hope my advices are helpful!

Regarding the Chasm-like vibes, Dainsleif is heavily related to the abyss and Chasm is literally almost an abyss place hahah, so that's why I imitated several abyss themes from the original soundtracks!

that massive note at the end implies some sort of big finish. Imagine you're fighting dainsleif, he's at his second phase at about half health, when something *far* worse- *far* more dangerous- crawls up from the abyss that you now have to focus your attention on. Perhaps even work with him? Or you get some of tool from him like the Neo Akasha Terminal in the Sumeru boss fight.
I'm listening to this melody, I imagine it more as a character demo, as if when phase 2 entered, there was that close-up on the character, at the moment when Dainsleif is going to use his ultimate, raising the golden sword of twilight in the air while shouting " Khaenri`ah lives!" "All destiny is intertwined" "Once begins, a new end".

Phase 1: Build Up flexing his moves, every attacks deals corrosion status effect, and curses your healing(When you use healing you will receive dmg feedback instead)
Phase 2: add Latin choir singing on the background while Dainsleif is casting his unblockable burst animation if you failed dealt enough DPS during a certain phase that automatically eradicates your entire team causing the Boss fight to fail instantly

Hey there! I mainly use Audio Imperia’s Nucleus and Albion One for most of the strings, woodwinds and brass. While for the percussions I usually use Action Strike and Heavyocity’s Damage. I highly recommend all of these plugins as they are very versatile and quite realistic sounding!😁

Second Phase - The REAL fight begins. Better hope your Gladiator artifacts are maxed out, and that you have a lot of food....
Dainsleif proceeds to Vision Hunt Decree you (INCLUDING the mc) and Render himself immune to elemental attacks, but also go fully physical too. No assistance, Or gadgets, or mechanics, literally just a physical fight. Oh and his stats scale to your party's highest stats too on this phase (exc mastery because that's 0)

Sure thing! The 1st phase was almost fully self composed except I used a theme from Dainsleif's Bough Keeper quest. It was a really subtle theme that played during his dialogues if I remember correctly, you can search Dainsleif Bough Keeper Theme on youtube and you'll get it. The second phase was based on 'The Wind Catcher from a Foreign Land'. You can hear that theme in one of Hoyo Mix's album in streaming platforms called 'The Wind and the Star Traveler'. Hope that helps!
