  • The FM radio feature on these three radios is quite different. You decide which one is easiest. I personally am not a fan of the Wouxun programming in many ways including the FM radio. The Alinco DJ VX50 is super easy. Also the Yeasu FT65 is extremely easy as well. As far as sound quality goes I know it's very subjective but I think the Yeasu sounds the best of the three. None of them sound bad at all. In fact I'd say these sound better than most

I have a VX-6R and the Wouxun KGUV9PX and I love both. I have about 7 other HT's. All do BC FM but none have MW AM except the VX-6R... but it mostly needs an external antenna if you don't have a strong signal. One day, someone will make the ultimate HT and SHTF all mode Shack in the box HF radio.🙏😀
    Thnx for the demo.🍻73

I have the Wouxun. I programmed via Chirp some FM stations. Could NOT figure out how to navigate to them. Hadn't gotten that far in the manual yet. Thank you.

Estoy indeciso

Cannot decide on my first radio purchase. Narrowed it down to the Yaesu and Alinco models in this video. Tough choice. Thanks for the video.

Any of the three here are excellent.. They all three can be wide banded if desired. The best overall functionality shtf radio is the Wouxun. It also has the best battery life. But it's more expensive as well. One thing about the Yeasu and Alinco they don't work with chirp. They all three need a special programming cable but the Yeasu and Alinco are fairly easy to program from the keypad. I'm not sure I helped you out there lol. Good luck.

Great video. Icom has a V86 vhf and sometime soon an IC T10 vhf/uhf. Kenwood as far as I can tell only has a TH-K20A vhf for $169.95 and 1130 mah battery which sucks for me/ I would expect for that price to have a bigger battery. Have a great one.

Thank you. I'm planning on getting the IC t10 as soon as I can. I don't really need too many more radios. If I could get them to review I'd gladly do that but I'm trying to invest in other radios. The Kenwood doesn't interest me much. Wouxun is killing it with their new ht's. There's a couple mobile radios I'd like and I'm still wanting to upgrade my IC718 hf to the 7300. Plus I'd love to get some my mobile/portable hf stuff set up as well as charging options. Definitely gonna take me awhile. Thanks for the comment.

@@northmanproject4007 I do have 16 or 17 handheld radios, 6 Baofengs, 6 Yaesu, 1 Icom IC V86, Radioddity GA 510, 2 Alinco DJ VX 50. I have a Yaesu, FT 2900 (75w). Also have a Icom 2300 which has never been used. The Yaesu 2980 (80w) would be good for you to have too. Hopefully you can get like ither ham radio You Tubers and be able to get companies to send you radios free to review. My got radios are a Baofeng GT 5R and either a Yaesu, Alinco or Icom.
I would like to know what happened to Alinco. When I got started in han radio, 26 years 26 years ago, Alinco was classified as on of the big 4 makers of ham radios. Now they only say Icom, Kenwood and Icom are the major makers of ham radio. Sorry for being long winded. Have a great one.

@@miriamsmith7135 I actually have two 2980's. Love those radios! Yeah you certainly have a lot too. You got the HT bug. I have several Baofengs. Not that big of fan of them anymore. I get tired of the terrible lack of filtering. Alinco just discontinued it's SRT8. I have one. It's a good little radio. But everyone wants the new sdr stuff. I'm guessing ICOM will cut the 718 out before too long. I honestly think Alinco couldn't complete with the cheap baofengs. We as hams put them where they are buy wanting cheaper stuff. Anyhow just a thought.

@@northmanproject4007 For antennas I have a signal stick but use a Comet because I've found thy are a little better. I do have a MFJ 1714 1/2 wave for my Icom V86, also have a Diamond RH 205 5/8 wave for the Icom, both only do 2 meters. I do have a MFJ 1714S That I use on my Alinco and Yaesu. I also have a Diamond RH 205 5/8 for my Icom. It only does 2 meters.
The only thing I don't like about a Baofeng, is that it says it picking up the weather channels, but you can't hear them. Have a great one.

I am looking hard at the Alinco. It has a channel knob, ip67, can monitor dual channels, and can be easily programmed from the key pad. I was originally looking at the ft-60r, but I'm not sure I get an extra $55 in value for that much added cost. Only thing on paper that looks beter is the double superheterodyne recieve in the ft-60r. Do you have any real world experience with situations that would cause the old superhet shine?

No but I understand what you're saying. I just don't know personally if it would be worth it.. there's been many times I wanted to pull the trigger on the yaesu I just never have. Yes every radio has its drawbacks the Alinco for me is the lack of programming software. The RT systems has it but it's like $50 otherwise your programming the radio by hand and that's ridiculous for a lot of channels. Alinco does not support it with their own software and the last time I checked chirp does not work with it either. That's my biggest pet peeve with the alinco. The other radio I'm sure would perform just fine honestly I can't remember if they updated the battery pack or not on the yaesu ft-60r. It's a good radio for sure but like I said it has drawbacks. It's been quite a while since I've looked at it. I have really become a big fan of the Wouxun kg uv9d mate. It's been my go-to for the last year and I love it but it's 150 bucks. I've done several videos on that radio and I love it. Pretty much over everything else that I have

Lol I do what I think is right I don't really care about all that stuff I'm going to bring the truth to any content that I have about things are basically just mediocre radios and I won't be buying anymore that's for sure I have about 10 of them and every single one of them has issues why am I going to lie about that LOL I don't care how cheap they are. They have their purpose but that's really not saying much especially when someone who is a little bit more mature in the hobby want something better quality that's when I would steer someone away from a Baofeng
