Welcome back to my channel.
As I'm keen to get my own horse Corporal back up and running a bit more, I need to work on building up his muscle, topline and overall condition. So thought I'd a video on how I'm going to go about it.

Love this video. I have an 8 year old Connie who was diagnosed with osteoarthritis at 4. I opted for chemical fusion of both hock joints and for the last 3 years he’s been in and out of the vets getting top ups to destroy any remaining cartilage. So his work hasn’t been consistent. His left hock is now fully fused and right still fusing. I’ve found lateral work, poles and hacking has been the best for getting his strength and suppleness back. We were doing BD and unaffected SJ and really hoping we can get back into next year 😅
Oh wow, that’s tough for you both and a long wait. Glad to hear though that the left has fused hopefully not long till the right fuses. Roll on 2023 for you guys! Definitely do the BD combine training, I might pop Corp in a class early next year for a bit of fun.
That’s what I’m planning to do. Fingers crossed for a better year tbh. My old Arab Welsh cross gelding, who is 21 and a fantastic dressage horse, came down with laminitis in January this year and is just coming out of box rest for a soft tissue injury. It’s literally sucked the life out of me. Two horses and both poorly on and off all year 😢
@@ziggy9269 oh I am sorry, two horses off is a lot to deal with. Incredibly draining. Keeping my fingers crossed for healthy, sound horses in 2023.
Ah yes, consistency, my constant stumbling block
Although ... Does that make me consistently inconsistent? 😂
Haha snap. I’m consistently inconsistent too! 😆
What if you have NO hills of any kind where you are able to ride?
That does make it some what harder. If possible, and you have transport, I’d box up and go somewhere where there is one. I used to do this when I was eventing and wanted a longer hill. Otherwise, I’d do more polework instead of the hill work.
