Do you have an SRS light on your 2003-2007 C-Class or CLK Mercedes? Rather than taking the car to the dealer, consider replacing the seat belt buckle first or scanning the car for any fault codes. In Mercedes coupes like the Project CLK550, the wiring for the seat belts is often damaged by the repetitive folding motion when passengers are entering and exiting the rear of the vehicle. This can cause a short in the circuit.
Kyle is here to show you how to replace the faulty seat belt buckle on your Mercedes. This video is applicable to all CLK and most C-Class models between 2003-2007.

Great info...thank you!
Great job!🎉
Great video, thank you
excellent initial trouble shooting. Many freak out with a SRS warning, and go down the 'passenger seat occupancy pad' route, as this is quite common, but as you illustrate there are other reasons a SRS can illuminate. As it happens, this exact same fault is on my little B class.
Nice presentation. I wish they were all this good.
Thank you, Conrad!
Great job
I was looking for something else, and I never had a problem with the SRS system. But I never knew what SRS was. Thanks.
Any ideas / videos of how to change it on a W204 c-class?
Excellant Video, Superb Quality and Professionally presented, Thankyou
Do you have a video on (2005 Clk 320) Belt buckle airbag, extensioner retractor front passenger failure? I have the ICarsoft CR pro, which is showing me a failure there.
Thanks, Looks like you ddint re route the buckle back thru the hole when you put the new one on or you did it off camera.
excellent presentation, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
do you have videos on replacing the seat motors?
Thank You. Very useful video to solve my mb trouble. I had the same mb error.
You're welcome, Matti! Glad you were able to fix it!
Great video, thank you. I don't have the hand held tool (icarsoft) to reset the code, will the in car computer reset itself or do you need the hand held tool? Thanks
Had this on my A Class 2016…Absolute pains since I bought it. One thing after the other.
Got the same problem on an 2008 ML320. Workshop told me it was the seatbelt clip switches causing it.
Will the iCarsoft scanner diagnose SRS issues with my 1999 sl500? Does it need the 36 pin adapter to properly diagnose the problems?
Great Info..thank you, my car has the same problem and I will do the same thing ASAP.
Did you have a blinking air bag light on after? I am, I think the vin needs to be matched up with the replacement part
Hi, I have my c300 driver seat blowing as soon as they are put in. And today, the dealership just told me the buckle has as issue. Can this belt buckle sensor be the problem?
I'm having same issue on my E550 W211 Benz.. The chimes are so annoying. Do I have to dismantle the driver's seats and passengers seat?
I have the SRS light but no error message. Any idea what cause the SRS light? BTW I have a B class.
FCP Euro- Does this apply as shown for code b1033 2002 c240 w203 right rear ?
Why was the part on the outside of the trim at 8:22 but then you install it under the trim at 9:29 ?
What is the proper placement?
Bro I was wondering so my dad has an 2004 c class C200 CDI and with us we’ve got this problem where whenever we have our seatbelts on in the front the car detects how we still don’t have our seatbelts on yet we actually do any help you could give me bro like where the seatbelt sensor is??
Thanks for the video. It was very helpful and I ordered my part from FCP
Happy to help Jayson! Glad we were able to get you your part!
Would this part fit 2008 Mercedes Benz C350 driver side ?
How about one for a 2002 mercedes c320 w203 chassis?
Is this applicable for the w204 coup?
If ithe code is for seat belt buckle can it also mean seat belt?
Will this stop the from starting
Did the srs light trun off after clearing code? You did not show that
Lol.. how can you have 6000 viewers with no haters at all BRO
I have a w211 2009 E350 4Matic, the SRS light is on the dash as well as the passenger airbag not becoming active with someone sitting there, and while driving at speeds, and having the passenger take off their seatbelt, I'm not getting any alarm on the dash for it! When I hook up my Icarsoft to scan it, its showing that there isnt any fault codes ?? Please Help with any info or procedures I need to do to fix it.
It sounds like it could be the occupant sensor mat that detects if someone is sitting in the seat.
Good day, i have the same issue, i have w204 c200 , my seat belt light works when i remove my buckle and when i buckle it , the srs light appears, when i unbuckle it seat belt lights on amd srs disappears. Could it be the same issue with your CLK?
It could be the same issue!
@@fcpeuro this morning i was trying to check my wiring under the seat, now my srs light is on always and my seatbelt is not lighting anymore...... how much is the buckle?
Ok folks. All of the so called experts are not giving away their secrets, so I will. The gentleman on this video does a great job, but he is missing the root of the problem. This SRS repair light fix is with all Mercedes. Listen up... Put the Mercedes diagnostic on the OBD2. When you get a shorted squib error ( resistance = 0 ), it is not because of a bad squib, and it's rare that a fault of a rubbing wire to ground is your problem. The wires are dressed away from the track. Here's the fix: There are two yellow connectors under the driver seat ( and passengers seat ) that control the seat below and Squib ( explosive). Go to the yellow connector that is connected to the squib and disconnect it. The factory has installed a shorting strip inside this connector as a safety precaution, and this strip is causing the sort. You can fix this one two ways. You can pry this metal piece out or you can eliminate this connector all together by hard wiring. The resistance on the squib is 3.2 to 4 ohms. Remember this is an explosive, and I don't recommend putting a VOM meter on the two squib wires. As a quick test, disconnect the two wires to the squib and short out with a 3 ohm resistor. Your srs light will go away, but the squib is no longer in the circuit, which I don't recommend. The problem is in the connector and the error code is R12/9. You will need to reset the srs light with ICarsoftMBII and the problem will not happen again. If you plan on reusing the yellow connector, you must remove the metal grounding bar, or just cut it off. I hope I was able to save people headaches and money on this fix.
@Michael_Bisk Awesome read thank you. I don’t know my issue though maybe you can help me? When I put my Icarsoftmb2 it does communicate with the SRS module but when I “check faults” it gives me an error as if the module doesn’t exist or it’s disconnected or the car is off (when it’s not) I find it bizarre that it allows me to communicate to the module but not read faults. It allows me to check CAN comms and many other things but not reas faults. From what it allows me to gather..... all connections are OK except for Passenger Seat with Child Seat it gives “F” and same for the TeleAid it gives an “F” instead of “OK” or “N/A” could that be the culprit? Bizarrely it allows me to erase the SRS codes that it won’t show me but once I turn the car on it comes back.... this is a C320 2001 with 86k miles. Thank you
@@DoctorTauri I never had the isoft not reading codes. Research the code # and you should find the problem. The srs connectors are made to short out to stop the voltage to the charges. Find out the location of the fault, unplug, clean and reattach. You can clean with mad cleaner made by crc. That's pretty gentle stuff. Never add any voltage to the lines.
@@DoctorTauri when my srs light came on I cleaned the air bag connector on the driver's seat. It was yellow or blue.
Hello. I have a 2008 c300 w204 and i have the same problem on the front passenger seat belt buckle, but i cannot find the part anywhere. Could you help me please?

Hi, I have a error message come up on my car, stating “front right malfunction - consult workshop” (airbag) I have had my car through a diagnostic and error code B005013. Is the seatbelt causing the issue for my airbag ? Does anyone know ?
Sultana Yasmin its the seat belt
I have the exact same code… did you get yours fixed? What was the issue/cost please?
I have a c class 350 with same alarm. Mine seems to be the buckle itself, because when I pushdown on the buckle the alarm clears but returns after I let go. I ordered a new buckle , but can the old one be fixed, have anyone ever opened one for a Benz?
Me too, I have the same light for SRS on a 2008 C350, seems to go on after a turn then goes off shortly after.
Same exact observation too. Let me know if it a frayed or a worn switch ok Mike? I will do the same once I remove mine.
had this issue on a 2007 C230 and sprayed WD40 into the buckle and it worked like magic! didnt repace the buckle and its almost 2 years now and srs light hasnt come back
Did you show how you tested the seat belt buckle before you replaced it? What do we set the meter on and what is the meter supposed to read?
looks like you can hardly look over the dash with the seat at its height
What is your website?
