I wish you had touched on his growth in maturity.
He was arrogant, cocky at one point early in his career. He even developed a rep for a minute as a sore loser.
The multiple setbacks certainly humbled him. It's a cool evolution of a pretty great player.
Many young gamers are like that until they come of age. Even Punk was arrogant at first almost becoming a "heel" of the fgc but he matured eventually.
@@wilcals5294"Even Punk was arrogant" is a bit much, lol. "Daigo was arrogant" is a better example.
@@wilcals5294 thing is that punk is still a sore loser
@@duxnihilo Not sure what you're talking about. Punk used to teabag losing players and talk shit to them. I havent seen Daigo do that.
@@wilcals5294 its called talking out your ass. You say something so wildly oppossed to reality that some people believe it automatically and the world becomes alittle dumber in return
I'm not from the same part of D.R. mena is from. But he came up with bad wifi, almost daily blackouts, small pool of players and visa hurdles to be where he's at today.
Can't imagine competing online CPT with fear of a blackout
I remember flying him to SCR as a one time sponsorship and then he got pick up by sponsors and then he won Capcom Cup. Wow what a crazy run!
He wasn’t even old enough to drink at the time and I took him to Vietnamese Karaoke 😅.
Shoutout to Broski for an amazing 4-5 set against Mena in Kumite
I’m a Dominican, I’ve fallen in love with the fgc! MenaRD has only elevated my love and showed our people can reach the very top of fighting games.
When your failures are still top 8s. What a legend.
These videos keep coming out as if this guy hasn’t been around for nearly a decade now
Yea I clicked on this wondering who is this new unknown, did I miss something. Its just mena cmon
It gets people to click on the video.
Bait
It’s good for me, who’s been living under a rock
I think it's reasonable to assume there are a lot of new street fighter fans that came in with the new game, that wouldn't necessarily know the story's of the pro players they see now
Another amazing vid as always, Mr Papa!
i havent watched tournaments in recent years unless it was tekken or mvc3, but this EVO JP 2024 made me go WOW with MenaRD
love these videos man keep it up
I love MenaRD TeaBag like old day 😂
his wins in SFL was pretty cool too
Really great prepared video charting MetaRDs rise!
I love your channel brother!
I see papá I click papa
Mena is built so different
Papalobster DA GOAT🗣🗣
Amazing video btw fantasy strike suoer underrated
Are you ever gonna post any non capcom games?
all hail the king
I love Mena Really Dominican ❤
Would not say he is new king. But still yeah from being a nobody in 2016 and now he is arguably one of the best players, his talents and efforts really serve him well.
Early squad. What's up
papajohns
first! Great video
🇩🇴🇩🇴
And then they said he won a tekken 5 tournament twice
Evo Japan 2024 gf was disgusting. Mena rd seems at another level
Can’t be king of SF without winning EVO
He just won EVO Japan this year.
Sure looked like a king at Capcom Cup and Dreamhack…
He won the SFL at Capcom Cup and qualified at DreamHack for the Esport World Cup for an opportunity to win millions. Only person with two Capcom Cup, have 1 EVO, Kumite, CEO, and a bunch of other first place and top 8.
I know a hater when I see one.
we won because of GOD
its not science bro
Love the videos, my only constructive criticism is about your cuts to your face. You look lost or something lol, idk. There's no emotion in your face or voice and we can clearly see your eyes scanning left to right, reading the script. I think you can do better. Besides that, great videos!
Who is this known unknown player???
He'll have a heart attack young if he doesn't start losing weight
what kinda click bait BS is this. it basically translates to "Before MenaRD was known, he was unknown". You don't say?
who cares its SF5 the worst SF of all time
Looks like someone was trash at sf5
@@OKMender no its because SF5 was trash, crush counters were so good, you rather take the grab then get combo'd yeah great game lol, its not better then any version of Sf2, not better then 3rd strike, USF4 was better, and SF6 is better...so its up there with SF the movie lol
@alexnas9634 Honestly, I was expecting you to be a lot more angry and type a dumb message. I just did it for the reaction, but fair. Have a great day
I used to play and train with him in SF4 in the Dominican groups... not only was he only 15 at the time, he was very new to the scene and I could tell back in those days the kid was going to be a menace, the way he adapted to situations and how he changed his playstyle completely to avoid auto-piloting and keeping you guessing... he had the talent to be a winner.
@@kelvinsantos7871 nothing against his skill, its still a really garbage game, also why did you post that here? none of us were talking about the player, just the game lol
MenaRD!!!
Crappy video. The problem with today's SF players is that a lot of them are not willing to do FT10 battles. To really determine who is the better, we need a FT10 to test each other. Tournaments are also based on luck too besides your skills. I like watching Japan's FT10 battles because we get to skill how close or far the skills gaps are with players. 3rd Strike for example has a lot of pro players and for sure we Kuroda is the #1 3rd strike player.
Until we see a legit FT10 battles between players, the tournaments doesn't prove much on who are the best SF players in the world.
