A key question the software will ask is the type of LED backlight the monitor uses. You avoided this question. What did now select? A lot of people struggle with ths.

I am able to find plenty of information on the X version, but struggling to find information on if there is any significant performance upgrade between my spyder 4 to the X. Where is struggle most is printing accuracy to my screen, I've done everything like kill off screen brightness to below recommended levels but still my prints come out darker than screen (store or home printed both). I don't want to buy a printer calibrator as they are extremely expensive and I don't really print enough to justify the costs, but I would at least like the screen to convey similar results. There is a promo on the X right now, expires tonight. Very interested to hear your thoughts.
I personally loved spyderx, up untill they started pestering me to upgrade to a newer model. Then final nail was when the software stopped working for the old model.
Hi Omar, just today I wast calibrating my notebook screen because it was a bit warmer and my edition sucked a bit (I was playing with warmer tones and get the accurate tones xD) thank you for the video! Also, in windows you can sort of calibrate your screen opening the result of "calibration" when you search on the configuration menu, is not the most accurate thing, but it worked for me right now. THe absolute true is hard to get D:
Hi Omar... What color space do you set in the camera settings? sRGB or Adobe RGB? I currently have mine set to sRGB but just wondering if it's better to shoot in Adobe RGB and then save in sRGB in post.

I just purchased the $2,000 BenQ sw321C a few days ago and used the Datacolor Spyder5 pro colorimeter and the results are the same. Yellow cast all over screen. Im fed up.. just bought X1 Display Pro. Hopefully I get better results.
I've still got a vintage datacolor Spyder from back in the days of CRT screens! Only works with Windows XP though sadly lol. Not used Datacolor products since then, I'm a self confessed Xrite fanboy these days 😋

I have a MacBook Pro 15. I see in your videos you have a iMac, so I think we can talk about this in the same page. So, first all, when you calibrate your monitor, do you do it with the lights turn off (or as most dark room as possible) ? or not ? Or actually do you use the option given by Spyder device to measure the light in the room ? Second of all, when you calibrate your monitor, what is the brightness or nits you set your screen while the device is doing its job ? from what I researched from people, the recommendation is between 70-100 nits, the higher from that math means the room is illuminated by a lot of light. And third one, and probably the question that hunts me the most it is after the screen calibration what it is the best brightness adjustment to edit pictures? usual I set my screen -4 clicks from the max screen brightness. when you edit your pictures what settings do you use ?? This will mean the world to me .. ahaha So many times I ask myself if actually my screen is calibrated properly. I bought the Spyder Pro a year ago and I can see the difference, on my screen it warms a bit the colours comparing with original Mac monitor profile. Annoyingly, every time I calibrate my 27” iMac with the Spyder Munki, the results differ having cooler & warmer colour casts. X-Rite also have extremely poor customer service in the UK.
I have an old Mac. Can I still use this? It has an old OS, which I cannot upgrade-(the Mac is is used for ridiculously great but expensive design software which cannot be upgraded). I think it is Lion OS. The Mac is only used for design and photo stuff, so it works perfectly fine without upgrading. Otherwise I have a laptop, with windows, but surely a big Mac, even an old one is better?
Tbh, you only need to calibrate once a month. And even then, with many of today's displays, that will end up correcting very minute shifts during that period. So speed isn't really that big of an issue IMO. Pump out some quick push-ups or go make some coffee in preparation for that 4 hour color grading session. :)

sarimner that’s what I’m thinking. I am not a pro (i mainly play games), just want to give this to my wife. She likes taking pictures, editing videos, and i could use it too (have 2 desktop pc’s). I just changed the settings myself, who knows how far that one is from the proper settings

just a quick heads up, if you upgraded to OSX Catalina you'll also need to upgrade your Datacolor Spyder software to its new 64 bit version.

I still own my Spyder3Pro but since i bought my 2 Asus ProArt monitor i don't feel a lot the need to calibrate.

Does the device calibrate the monitor through software or do you have to manually edit each RGB setting through monitor OSD?
through software, you may need to reset and adjust brightness using the monitor controls but the tool takes care of the rest

SpyderX is so bad. get the new xrite i1 and you use displaycal software.. SpyderX is not accuret..
When I print, my prints match my monitor, so it's working for me. Did you run some tests between i1 and SpyderX...that would be cool.
