Three reasons that is - the NBC station in Washington, DC is the second-oldest NBC O&O; only WNBC in New York is older. They share space with the NBC News Washington bureau (4001 Nebraska Avenue in Northwest - across Nebraska Avenue from American University - and next door to DHS HQ). They tend to borrow staff from them for news AND other events in Washington, DC.
After the Skins lost their third in a row and sporting a record of 2 and 6, my son started looking on stub hub for cheap tickets, since we'd never been to a game in person. He talked me into shelling out $200 for season finale tickets against Dallas. Dream seats, 2 rows away from the field in the end zone. Then the team ran off 6 straight wins and the game became important. I have to admit, if my teenage son wasn't so hyped to go with me I would have sold them, as similar pairs were going for $1600 by game time. We bundled up and had the time of our life drinking free hot chocolate, eating free hotdogs and cheering loudly throughout. Alfred Morris literally ran right up to us after a score. It was a wonderful night and a great memory. Both my son and I now use a screen grab from the MNF broadcast where we can be seen clearly celebrating as our social media backgrounds. Sad the RG3 era didn't go as we hoped but I'll always remember this fondly.

Man I remember this game. My grandfather died a few days before hand; everything just couldn’t go right. A 14 year old who really never experienced Redskins’s success. At 2:05:24 Hearing Hail to The Redskins, the crowd singing along, the announcers staying silent allowing us to take in that moment. For a few minutes, everything was alright. The electricity in that stadium could be felt through the TV We were back it felt like. Well then ya know what happened.
I'm so glad Al Michaels just recognized the moment and let it happen. Possibly the best feeling I've ever felt watching this team was right there. The future felt so bright....

This season and 2012 in general was magical for me.
Team had a rough start but ended up on a winning streak that didn't end until rg3 tore his knee up for good.
I can't believe it's almost been 10 years since this happened.
My team doesn't even exist anymore which makes it worse.

That 2012 Season was awesome. Start off 3-6, win 7 in a row to make the playoffs. Swept the Cowboys in two classic showdowns, defeated the eventual Super Bowl Champs, was holding LOB down before RG3's injury. The Squad we had was stellar beyond belief.
That 2012 Washington season could literally be made into either a documentary or biopic movie. So much glory happening on the field, yet so much turmoil happening behind closed doors

Everyone forgets how hot he was to start that game. 2 Drives, 14 Pts. And he wasn't even 100% when he did that. If he's pulled after the 2nd TD Drive, he doesn't tear his knee entirely later in the game, which basically ruined him from that point on.

You have to remember that this is one of the FEW seasons (if my memory is correct, it's only happened twice) that Dallas got swept by Washington. WHY Dallas snatched Morris up in free agency - he is still the only player to ever rush for 200 yards against Dallas in any game.
How ironic that Dallas would later be led by their own rookie QB and RB tandem.

Hilariously, in 2012 I knew too little, I thought Kyle Shanahan was an unqualified nepotism hire, lol. I didn't know crap about Shan Kubiak Offense that he ran as OCO in Houston. It was Kyle who added Zone read to Outside Zone run and Play action based offense to make it deadlier. Like Seahawks did optioning off D end unleashed RB Lynch, and for Skins earned 6 round rookie Alfred Morris rushing title 1600 yards. D has to commit 8 to run fits when one guy is always out of the play, and now play action has only 3 DBs left to cover. Man if only Kyle had Lamar or Josh Allen.
By 2016 Falcons in season I learned all about that school of offense, a lot more Xs and Os writers by then I learned all about Kyle and Broncos Shanahan and Texans Kubiak's offenses; was better able to appreciate 2012 archives. Kube's 2012 Texans O peaked that year, and 2012 Redskins is one of all time favorite offenses to rewatch. Run it and play action, use pistol instead of under center, shotgun sucks no hard play action. Love the Pistol, got a deep back hitting hole full speed, yet QB 5 yards deep is guaranteed at least 2.5 second for quick game. The offseason is the best time to admire these past great schemes.
This game is what I called "The Final Battle".

I Remember watching this Game back in 2012 I Was wearing my RG3 Jersey I Had my Redskins Foam Finger on my Hand I was wearing my Redskins Hat and Redskins Pajama Bottoms along with my Redskins Socks on my Feet and i was in my Bedroom watching this game on NBC And i was also listening to Larry Michael and Sonny Jurgensen on the Redskins Radio Station. This by far was the best game i had ever watched as a Redskins Fan and i am hoping that 2019 will be our year to get back to our winning ways.
