Bowen exposes Moyes lies | Hat-trick hero reveals the real reason Hammers went into attack mode

  • Much has been said about the reason for West Ham's 4-2 win against Brentford. The latest rumour to do the rounds is that manager David Moyes surrendered power to coach Kevin Nolan who masterminded the Premier League victory. However, in a revealing interview, Jarrod Bowen has spoken of how he addressed and rallied the West Ham squad having clearly become frustrated with the Hammers recent form. With leadership in short supply, Bowen spoke of how he cajoled his West Ham tea-mates and took charge of the team who HAD been coached and prepared by David Moyes in the build-up to the crunch victory against Brentford.
Quite what this means for Kurt Zouma's captaincy is anyone's guess but Bowen seems to have positioned himself as leader of the group.

A great point re Bowen being Captain. Not the obvious choice, but now that I think about it, he probably has 1) the respect of all the players, and the manager, 2) he has endless energy so can cope with additional responsibility, 3) he rarely gets booked, showing his self-control, 4) he is a model of commitment, with his contract to his "switched-on" approach to football, 5) he is improving as a player every season. What do you think?

Consider the possibility of West Ham United returning to their historical football roots by acquiring the 'Memorial Recreation Ground' in Canning Town from the Newham Council.
The site, established in 1897, was reported to accommodate up to 100,000 spectators at its peak (source: Wikipedia).
The Memorial Recreation Ground holds both sentimental value and strategic advantages, spanning 12.4 hectares or approximately 30.641 acres.
Its prime location offers close proximity to all essential amenities, including West Ham station, Underground (tube), Overground (District, Circle, Central lines, Jubilee, Stratford etc.) DLR and all major bus routes.
(Blimey, I could become an estate agent, with all that spiel)
Anyway, such a move could align with the club's heritage and history, while providing a well-connected and ample space for a football-related stadium.

Tbh, I thought toward the end of last season that Jarrod would be a good captain. In interviews his demeanor had changed completely. Rather than shy and reserved he was thoughtful, relaxed and incisive. He stated his love for the club and you could tell he wasn’t just offering platitudes. I think he should have been named captain when he signed his new deal. Maybe he didn’t want it, or maybe Moyes thought he was too short. Kidding. But in effort and commitment he’s been one of the leaders for a while. And now he’s vocal and the team has responded. He’s confident. He works hard. He should be captain.

Agreed, you can have a justified opinion of why you want Moyes out (which I completely get). But when it goes beyond that (derogatory) it’s not good to see. We’ve won our first trophy for many many years, Moyes has categorically earned the right to manage this season.

    • @lewishookings7536
      @lewishookings7536 Před 3 měsíci

I mean I have been Moyes out for quite a while now, not sure exactly when but had fully had enough when Larnaca played us off the pitch and we went defensive, at blooming Larnaca. I can't as a football fan (especially a West Ham fan) be happy conceding possession, watch another team play football while we try to hit them on the break. I don't shout Moyes out every 5 seconds or post all the time about this being his fault, that being his fault etc. I just ask for a different mentality in the club so do not want Moyes in charge.
I understand that there are some Moyes in people, that the win and staying in the premier league is what matters most. Not sure I can believe they go to many of the games as they are dull even when winning (just look at the atmosphere), but everyone has their opinions.
What I don't like are the people who jump on a bandwagon after a loss then on the other bandwagon when we win again, these are the reason why clubs go through so many managers these days and probably quite a big part of the problem in modern day football. Bring a youngster in who plays 2 games, ship him off. Best championship footballer joins and looks like a great footballer, plays in the wrong system has a few bad games, ship him off. These are the people that do my head in.

The truth is that we don't have a captain in our current squad, the attributes of a captain needs to be leadership and has nothing to do with their playing abilities. True that they have to have playing skills to warrant a place on the pitch but looking at our 'best' players to be captain is not the correct way to go about it. People talking about Bowen don't understand what a captain needs to be. Bowen could well be our best and is likely to be our most important player now and for years to come but he's no captain. Bowen keeps his head down and just gets on with his job, be it on the wing or up front, he's doing what he's told the best he can but he's not leading on the pitch and I doubt he takes charge off it either. Compare that with Noble who was never the best player but was undoubtedly the best player we had to be captain and it's that leadership, not his playing skills that made him almost undropable for previous managers but certainly unsellable.

    Acid test is v everton.
Moyes will tell them its back to normal lads,i cant attack and bury myself.
Zouma is playing like a cripple. And that would effect his all round performance as captain.
Aguerd would thrive in a offensive side. Hes clearly not happy playing moyesball.a waste of talent imo. Not the first is he!!!.under moyes.racehorses being used as donkey rides 🥱

I love Bowen to bits, i wouldn't be against him being captain, he certainly has the passion and after hearing his interview he obviously is shy about telling the other players how he feels and what he wants to see from them .
As for Zouma , as a player, he's done imo , he's broken he scares me to death whenever I see him get further up the pitch because he can't get back, he can't jump anymore, he gets done way to often.

Gonzo, every team has a person who has the pre match speach. Win, lose or draw. Are u suggesting it was the pre speach that got us the win. Paq arrived & we won. That's all that can be said.

Gonzo, why don't the media ask the VERY SAME QUESTION to Bowen when we lose.

  • @anthonychase4364

Gonzo, I am a WHU life time supporter. My family goes back to 1900. From the very beginning. We were all Hammers people. I like what you said, being balanced about the Moyes' story. I live in Australia and i saw Jarrod's interview. He acknowledged the role of Moyes in the win. My big problem is the lack of respect and the malicious and personal vitriol against Moyes. I fully understand the concerns about the playing style of the team. I object to the vile personal abuse. That's not the Wesf Ham way. Finally, if I were Moyes I'd resign and walk out in the knowledge that I have left the club in a better position than when I came in. After the aborted Pelligreni experiment. I don't like lynch-mobs. It's not us. Thanks Gonzo. Up the Irons.

Zouma seems like a big likeable character but a captain he is not - I don’t want to dig him out too much but he looks barely capable of literally kicking a ball atm - we’ve had a torrid run and he’s been AWOL

I think MN has had a chat with Bowen which is probably why Bowen has taken charge, Noble hasn’t gone away and he cares too much for our club.

The last 2 years have shown the growing pains of the club as it tries to position itself as a top tier club. The dead wood has to go before the new can flourish. That has been the struggle. It is happening. More pain to come. The dead wood will go and new management (coach and directors/owners), and players will come along. And the club will become a tier club.

One thing Bowen ain’t is shy or quiet or however you want to put it and I don’t really see why anyone would think he is
If he was, he would never have got into the relationship he’s in now and he would never look as relaxed as he does in post match interviews
    Weird take

Great analysis of stats on Sky MNF with Jamie Carragher. Completely justifies fans discontent with the season so far. I thought Bowen sounded like a captain. Zouma appointment was another example of bad management.
