The quality of this footage is amazing, it feels like I'm right there.
@Max Power The Floor Is Lava
Beautiful! Incredible! Etc...
Wow, look who I ran into! I'm one of your subscribers Hank! I didn't know you liked volcanoes too!
I love your video hank!
Who tf is hank
WAW.
We simply love disasters don't we
I was in Iceland about two weeks before the eruption. This is absolutely so beautiful and scary at the same time. Mother Earth never ceases to amaze me. Wonderful video great work
I know they're dangerous but I find volcanoes fascinating and beautiful.
True
i do as well volcanoes are spectacular to watch, and when you see their display of power you get an idea of how the earth has its atmosphere and how volcanoes deposit mineral rich soil that can yield plentiful crops
They aren’t as dangerous to human life as people think. People believe that the lava will catch up and kill them but it is so slow that a disabled person carrying a person can go quicker. The only thing that would kill you is the ash cloud.
@@yaszuo9314 Try to tell this to Pompeii's people when Vesuvius erupted.
Wow no wonder it caused flight disruption!
I've seen other footage of the event but this is by far the best I've seen.
Just the sounds are helping me to de-stress after work. Nature’s the best. ❤️
Sounds better than waterfalls :)

This guy: panic
Volcano: (*HELL NOISES*)
This guy: calm
This is some of the best quality footage of anything I’ve seen filmed in 2010 on CZcams. Also, hasn’t there been a lot of seismic activity in the Reykjanes peninsula lately? Makes you wonder if one of Iceland’s long dormant volcanoes is about to wake up 🤔
It's a possibility, but as it seems of right now the magma intrusion stalled. Could lead to an eruption sometime in the future tho.
i think the katla volcano is overdue i think it will erupt at any moment
Now we are there mate😁
@@andii2878 Yeah, and it’s freaking Fagradalsfjall, a volcano that hasn’t erupted in over 10,000 years and was thought to be extinct! I’m not a geologist myself, but I’ve been paying attention to activity on the peninsula ever since the eruption warnings came out a few weeks ago. All the warnings I’ve seen were directed to Krísuvík despite the earthquake swarms being detected under Fagradalsfjall. This eruption appears to be small from the reports being given, but it’s still a historic one nonetheless due to a supposedly extinct volcano coming back to life again after 10,000+ years! It’s been a pretty crazy month for volcanos with Etna putting on a show every other day and now this.
Best footage ever!!!!
Damn. Truly an amazing sight on it's own, but your videography is top notch.
Holy crap, thats an insane eruption.
You have that right.

Yes, indid
And the amount of the smoke of small particles is the danger which was/is not just local

@1:23 OMG! You can see the actual blast wave coming up the ejecta column! That's impressive photography! 2 thumbs up!
After this incident Lewy became a world class player
WOW!!! GreT QUALITY AND CLARITY.
You can see the still red hot glowing ash clouds slowly cool to dark grey as they flow through the air. Absolutely amazing footage. Thank you for sharing this!
if ppl didnt know - currently there has been an evacuation of Grindavik in Iceland. They fear a major eruption of one of the many active Vulcans, most likely one called Fagradalsfjall, there have been 24 000 earthquakes recorded already recently. So this video here is bang up to date and could reflect whats maybe going to happen again within the next days.
That shock wave at 1:23 is priceless!!
I think it was because of the velocity it broke the speed of sound is my guess, right after it things really picked upend you could see red in the ash like that one last blast (shockwave) cleared the path for lava to come up.
@@harryberry474 speed of sound or oxygen burn due to high temps.
Awesomely, terrifyingly, beautiful.
Terrifying?
Yes - awesome not as in modern parlance but rather in the old sense of awe-full (which now just means ‘really bad’) causing or inspiring awe. Also, terrifying in an abstract sense of the knowledge of sheer destructive power and what it can do. Surely, some people facing an immanent lava flow would feel that! And, beautiful because it is just that ( from a safe distance).
@@LazarusUnwrapped it is so damn cool. Humbling
Chris Reid absolutely bro!
Thank you for not ruining this video with music. Just enjoy the amazing sound of nature.
Salute, respect and Honor the great works and Courage of Mr.Martin.
Blessed to have such visuals from a Man like Martin. Long live bro.
Stunning, as usual Mr. Rietze.
Thank you!
Holy crap!!...that struck a feeling of fear buried deep in my DNA from a thousand generations ago!!🤯
Brilliant video of sheer power of a volcano well filmed, wish it had been longer.i could watch this kind of action for ages. The video quality is first class.A thumbs up from me.
This beautiful eruption caused 107,000 flights cancellation, accounting for 48% of total air traffic and roughly 10 million passengers. This caused a massive economic, political and cultural hit to everywhere in Europe. Also, affected so many other countries + supply chains.
That was absolutely AMAZING!!! And well done on spoiling the video with background music 👍 it's awesome to hear the raw sound of these majestic fire breathers ⛰🌋🗻🔥
So destructive and yet so beautiful. Great video!
1:22 static electricity discharge and blast wave amazing footage
Static electricity? I don’t see anything
I thought it was pressurized air from the sound barrier breaking. Either way, that's some powerful stuff!

I so appreciate this video I get so tired of watching little mini blurbs tips and clips that don't show the full episode of a volcano. Very satisfying
Incandescent ash gives you a good idea of the heat. Best Eyja video I've ever seen.
This is some of the most incredible footage I've ever seen. Amazing quality, and that sound! What awe inspiring power.
Amazing Stuff! Just be safe while you are out there shooting this stuff mate! Fantastic....
Video is 10 year old already, hehe😁👍🌋
JS13 The crew is probably 5km away.
This is footage uploaded 11 years after the eruption
Absolutely spectacular!!!...🤙😎🤘
This is the best video of this volcano ever made. Ever.
Thx a lot. Very good and high quality.
Awesome, really like your videos
It ejected so fast that it broke the sound barrier. That's awesome.
Absolutely fantastic footage. The amount of pressure forcing all that lava and ash up at that speed is beyond astounding
Absolutely stunning and impressive! Thank you
I watched this eruption from beginning to end via the live webcams, at night it was so beautiful watching the lava flowing from the new cauldrons it had formed.
you have the coolest job in the world!
and the scariest
The coolest? How about the warmest?!😂
At 1:22 the erupting material broke the sound barrier.....such power
incredible recordings, so much power 1:20 , absolutely amazing your work, keep it up👍👍👍
You can hear the camera mic geek out when the shockwave hits it.
MF DOOM AKA JJ DOOM bought me here. The song called Guv'nor. Salute to the best MC with no chain you ever Heard
Holy crap dude! WOW!!
Wow

Danke für diese eindrucksvolle Aufnahme. Gigantisch mit wieviel Druck hier die Lava über den Kraterrand und in die Luft katapultiert wird. Sehr, sehr eindrucksvoll.
That is awesome.
Great video, I could watch a 24/7 live stream of that.
this volcano saved Robert Lewandowski’s career
Absolutely amazing footage! Wow
Way better then the fireplace channel :)
I saw some of the aftermath, travelling on the road to Vík, some years later. Thanks for the video.
Spectacular and maginificent. My respect for our dear mother Nature
Best volcano footage I have ever seen. Nice job!
Your volcano videos are the best on CZcams. More! More! More!
Just stunning footage mate. Must of been so incredibly amazing to witness this first hand!
Diese Aufnahmen sind Atemberaubend! Ich glaub ich hab noch nie so etwas schönes gesehen, WOW!! Danke für so tolle Videos :)
Hello, Martin Rietze!
My name's Diana , I am from Russia.
Today I and my class read the text about you and your photos and vidio. They are magical: beautiful and scary.
I admire your work and the fact that you continue to do so despite the danger.

At 1:23 you can see the pyroclastic flow breaking the sonic barrier!😮
Well done, great footage!

Oh wow! So deadly but so beautiful! 😍
Mankind just looks so small. The power these volcanoes 🌋 have. I can only imagine what it sounds like live. It would probably make your chest rattle. So beautiful.
one of the best closeup and sound of volcano i even seen!
Iceland is the one country that I have the deepest desire to visit before I shake off my mortal coil
Visit in the summer
You really should go

"Eyjafjallajökull" etymology derives from the Norwegian expression for "What's up dog?"
Awesomeness. I especially liked that shockwave through the lava.
What a magnificent beast 🌋😮
1:49 reminder that each one of those chunks of lava is the size of a semi-truck
Or a bus.
I live on the arcapelico of islands called Vestmannaeyjar and i remember I was playing with my friend up the street and then his dad came at around 00.50 and gave me a mask to ware home because a volcano just erupted and later that day it was my birthday. SO I GOT A PART OF A MOUNTAIN FOR MY BIRTHDAY WOOHOO
Geez I can see that debri flying everywhere and those black clouds absolutely terrifying and beautiful at the same time
At 1:22 it appears that for a short moment the stuff came out at supersonic speed. Notice that short flashing up of white condensation, as you usually see on supersonic fighter planes.
This footage is incredible. Must be so insane to be watching something that could just go off and annihilate you.
I live in the Netherlands, I remember the ash clouds coming, having a very strange brown color in the light of the sunset.

So I came across your channel at the time of the Hawaii volcano in 2018. Your videos are mesmerizing, I subscribed. In fact, it was my first subscribe. So you mean to tell me you’ve been doing this since 2010, and you have this kind of footage from back then? Stunning.
It doesn't get more festive and baroque than this.
i can watch this for hours.
its so beautiful
Beautiful sound of eyjafjalajokull
High quality and no music. Thank you !
1:22 supersonic shockwave lower left, also some of the lava chunks in this video are taking 18+ seconds to fall back to ground level from their highest point, meaning they are being blasted over 1.5 km / 1 mile high.
Damn man this is so cool to look at
I live in Scotland and if I remember correctly, whilst this was erupting, it wasn't unusual to see a fine layer of ash over your car in the morning!
