I think they have their cars looked at by an experienced person and if brakes and steering have no problems, why would you say such a thing??? They apparently do necessary work as he clearly stated but maybe you had your head up your ass and missed that part
DUNWORX do you think dealerships fix everything thing on a car to sell it on the used car lot? Not unless it is “pre-certified”.
really happy with the interior proceeds to highlight that giant hole in the seat
After a while Home Depot sales their rental tools. For almost, if not, 70% off retail prices. You can put in your zip code or a zip code near you and find the nearest one that is selling a carpet extractor. Even concrete surface cleaner, pressure washer and more. Great tip; if you plan on buying more than one item, don't hesitate to ask for an additional discount from the rental tools department manager. You can ask for a dollar amount off like $50 or 10% off. I've seen a CZcamsr do it with great results www.homedepot.com/tool-truck-rental/used-tools/mobile/
Also invest in drill brush power scrubber. They come in different stiffness for carpets, plastics and cloth seating. That will save you time and elbow grease
I was doing this when I was in high school. When I graduated, I had sold 51 cars. Learned to detail, paint, body repair, and mechanical. Turned that into a career owning a collision shop thirty seven years. Retired now. Oh yeah, save your money. You will need it later.
Jerry Cain i’m almost 16 and i’m trying to do this, to learn but better to have fun

Awesome
Lmao it helps to have good parents wanted to do this so bad but nope
@@thecrazeecow1682
I feel your pain. I had shitty parents, all they cared was for me to start paying rent in high school with no job experience lol
You're not deceiving anyone bud. You are actually putting in work that the buyer won't have to. And a man should be paid for his work. 👍👍👍👍
Jesus loves you alot trust in His death 4 salvation and be saved from eternal hell
All that work significantly raises the price of the vehicle
He's not wrong about the door jambs. I bought a 2001 F150 Supercrew 10 years ago that's still going strong. One of the things that stood out to me the most when looking it over was that the door jambs were spotless. That instantly gave me the impression that the truck had been well-maintained. I still keep them spotless to this day for that very reason.

NICE TO SEE SON AND FATHER WORKING TOGETHER WE NEED MORE OF THIS IN THE WORLD.
Thank you for watching and commenting Eric!!!

Painting the grille makes it look like a base model
Braden Tworow I agree shoulda left it chrome
Bradley S. I drive a truck! I like the chrome. I’d hate painting over chrome! It doesn’t look “gay as hell” Why did you have to reply to my comment like that anyway? We all have our opinions and I respect that. Geez.
I hate chrome but I hate the grill style itself even more. I would have replaced the whole grill with a different style.
Braden Tworow I agree chrome looks way better!
Fuck chrome
Great work! It is so, so satisfying to clean up a vehicle. I love making my older Ranger shine, same with our daily driver vehicles.
Wow, that looks great... honestly you did a great job, got some great ideas and processes for cleaning up a vehicle... thanks.
If you remove the tape while the last coat plasti dip is still wet it will come off clean and not lift up the plasti dip👍
I was gpimg to say samething. Always pull tape before paint is completely dry.
@@mythbuster7538 yup I learned that the hard way lmao
Will that plastic dip on the bumper last 5 years? Does it eventually peel off…or fade to gray, what happens over time? If it gets any gashes can you fill them easily so that they don't show much? Thanks
"original" Ranger was the BEST smaller-er pickup ever made. I have had three of them - still have one - and they were great trucks. I still don't understand why Ford stopped making them so they can replace it with a truck that sells for 30% more
Well you just answered your own question, didn't you? They want the 30% more? :D
Now it looks like a high school kids truck.
Shit I'm 25 I'd still drive it

I agree with you 100% on the door jambs you can tell if a person takes care of the car by how clean the door jambs are takes a little bit more effort but makes a big difference to me
I would way rather have that chrome front end than flat black, even dented. But like you say the customer could easily pull it off if that’s their preference. Reminds me of riding around 3 wide in the front of my grandpas ranger when I was a kid. It was a tight fit for sure
I don’t see any issues with what they did. All you guys are so butt hurt 😂. Moisture trapping behind the paint? Cmon, that’ll take years to happen... he did nothing sketchier than what your average car dealer would do he just filmed the process. People spray engine bays all the time, relax if they didn’t cover the battery...
Thanks bro!
I dig the justification for shade! We've had so much of that it's become a way of life! But it's ok cause car dealers do it! Fucking brilliant.
Aj James English is definitely not your strong suit
It's an older engine with a lot fewer sensors and electrical components then today's vehicles, so I will give them a pass here. But generally, spraying water on the engine is not recommended and a huge risk for problems.
I’ve been cleaning my Jeep Wrangler engine with a hose every two weeks for the last 14 years. And I don’t cover anything when I do it. I’ve never had a problem and it runs like a champ. Call me lucky I guess since everyone says you’ll ruin your engine doing that. SMH.
Awesome 👌 👏
Got an 03 xl with 130k for $300. Did all the basic ( plugs& wires MAF , MAP muffler was in 5 pieces , pads all around, touch up paint) washed and detailed. Came out great and a year later and 5k still runs great.
Great job on yours!
great video, I've been flipping cars for 20+ years and never thought to document it... got me motivated now to do so. I subscribing too
When you do get an extractor. I recommend using the smaller or medium size nozzle. It extracts much better than the larger nozzel. The magic eraser can be very abrasive. It can actually take the finish or colors off the interior. So becareful how hard yoy apply pressure on them
Are you able to recommend a specific high-quality but inexpensive extractor? I'm not flipping cars, but I'd like to keep one for the long-haul. Do you have a favorite one?
Dude this video is str8 🔥 love the way you cleaned and transformed this truck ! 🙌🏼looks amazing dude 🙌🏼 keep up the great video man. Amazing content ✅✅

You sure you aren’t blacking out the wheel wells and underside to hide any rust 😉
The problem with that coating it looks nice at first but once it starts getting dusty or dirty it look will look worse then it did before he put the coat on it

Won’t it damage fabric?
So won't that damage the fabric?
I know it is easier to just replace the headlights/indicators but you could have saved yourself a few dollars by taking the units out and DA'ing them with some cutting compound, or if the headlights were really dull, you could use wet and dry paper of progressively finer grit to get them clear again. There are tons of videos on here to see how it is done. You can DA plastic lenses to really good effect. Worth considering.
Fr that was pretty cool. Props to you for starting a business with your father. Not many people do that nowadays 👊🏽
Just now found your channel! I have this exact Ranger in dark green. Your Ranger is looking great, actually, it's turned out Awesome!!

What size wheels/tires are those? I have a 99 ranger and just throwing a set of those on gives it a way beefier look.
Hell yeaah, That was cool,, bought a black 99 Ranger w 94G miles today & gonna do the front end exactly like you did, very nice & simple 👍👍
94k miles*

Love the truck..I just bought the same truck same color.im going to try to do what you did thanks for the tips n tricks.
Also Instead of replacing the headlights just restore them to save a few extra bucks. Wet sand starting with 400 grit, 600, 1000 and finish with 2000. Once all done clean it with fresh water. Air dry then tack clothe and spray it with a good Automotive clear coat. Comes out crystal clear. I do headlight restorations and an exterior paint decontamination process that's similar to clay barring but without the clay. NanoShock.
What do you mean wet sand? If it's like 15 or 20 bucks I will do it on my 2000 f150 because they are foggy and hate foggy looking headlights.
@@jasonjr2500 A bucket filled with water Or a spray bottle with water. Soak the sandpaper that is for wet or dry in the water for a minute then using a sanding block wrap the sandpaper around it dip back in the water and sand in a crisscross pattern making sure to keep the sandpaper wet along with the headlight. Do that til the white milky residue from sanding is gone. Repeat that for all the grit sandpaper working up to 1500 or 2000 grit. As you get to the finer grit paper start using less pressure sanding making sure to do even strokes. Once done with all the sanding clean the headlight with clean water a few times. Wipe with a lint free cloth and then use a tack cloth to get any dust off the headlight. It will be hazy til you clear coat them. Get a can of Crystal Clear automotive clear coat in a can a give the headlights. Easier to show then explain through type. I would sand you tube headlight wet sanding. Dont waste your money on the headlight restoration kits. They dont last. I've done headlights 10 years ago here in the Florida sun and they are still crystal clear. No fading, yellowing or hazing. Take your time doing the steps and you will have Excellent results.
New headlights for the trucks are almost the same price as restoring old ones. And, put LED bulbs in if you really wanna sell it to the 1st buyer. LED front lights, turn signals, running lights and tail lights and reverse lights. Makes the vehicle look brand new. MUCH better lights and visibility. And when you show them to a potential buyer they immediate see a beautiful truck.
@@BAND-MAID-USA ignorant question, but can you just pop LED bulbs into any of those sockets you mentioned on a Ranger? What about a '93 Miata? In general do you need to change any wiring or fuses (or anything electrical) on an older vehicle in order to make add-on LED bulbs work correctly (or not burn out)?
@@Yowzoesimple replacement of all bulbs to LED. That works 99.8% of the time. There are tons of LED bulbs available that are a direct fit and replacement for any bulb on any vehicle.
Keep pushing your dreams bro, this is mine. I’m glad to see someone else doing it ya know. I eventually wanna own my own shop and if I can manage that then I wanna create an alright channel so I can do things like this and eventually build my own car. My biggest dream is owning a vehicle like a newer Mazda 3 speed and I wanna palace the motor with a new twin turbo 13b REW🙏🏽
i just bought this truck but 2004, nice to see how you got it lookin seeexy. Inspiring me to clean er up a bit
Love those old Rangers
Whenever you're undercoating you have to remove the surface rust first. What a joke
True but these guys sold it for profit. If it was their truck I think they would have done it but then it would cost them more labor to sand all the rust on all 4 sides.
You miss the point. The purpose was to make it look better. Not to make it last longer.
not if you're flipping the rig lol
@MysteriousOklahoma unfortunately that's almost every dealer nowadays. In fact I'd be shocked if you found an actual honest car dealer.
Here's where things get fucked up - these people fix flooded cars and make them work just long enough for the sale to go through. The day after Harvey finally cleared up in Houston I was driving to Tulsa since my apartment was damaged and unlivable. On my way over I saw a lot of cars being towed up north.
Yeah this is just semi shady used car selling lol
Subscribed. I do some fiddling with stuff around the house but I do want to try to do this on a small scale like you do. I think it's a public service, considering you are basically hand restoring a vehicle without major work, but effort. Easy sub for you sir. Looking forward to your next flip.
You should try Rustoleum bed-liner spray for the grill next time. I own a 2013 Wrangler and did my grill with about 4 layers (about 2 cans)...came out amazing looking.
If you have a rack to spend, the mytee 8070 lite ii is the one you want for the best results at that pricepoint. Heats the water to 200 degrees and sucks it up good!
Bissel is good enough unless you're a pro
Good idea going with the tough look. I bet it sells fast.
WOW THAT WAS COOL! DEFINITELY MADE THIS LIL RANGER LOOK GOOD EASILY
This looks great! I feel inspired to clean up my old 2000 Ranger. how did you get the engine to look so good and fresh?? even before your dad washed it .. I noticed it looks much better than mine! Nice work I bet it's fun and something to feel proud of when you see the finished truck!

Great job love how you worked the bumper to not show the dent too much
Wow nice work! Thanks for all the ideas what I can do with my 2001 Ford Ranger. I like the Plastic-Dip grill. I was thinking about doing carbon fiber vinyl in the dash but couldn't find one that seems like good quality. I also got seat covers because my seat is worn through in that EXACT same spot, and I'm happy to say my back doors both work perfectly :)
"PARENTING" : You're doing it right right dad.
A year has gone by and everybody's looking for these
old Rangers. You can almost double your price. Awesome job you and your Dad do on them.
Wow that was cool! I have a Ranger, and im going to go clean it now.
On almost all rangers models beside the new ones, you can insert the antenna or another rod of the same size under the door handle, if you hold the handle up you will see the hole I am referring too, it is where the handle goes in to the door. If you feel around you can find the lock lever and jimmy the lock.
It is not a VAY-Lance it is a VAL-Lance.
Wow that was cool! I recommend a bissell spot bot. I use it when my dog shits on thick carpet and it really works extremely well. I think it would be good at cleaning dirt really well. I agree with you 100% . First impression is a lasting one! I pass right on over dirty trashy vehicles with nasty cabins.
This Was Awesome!!! Loved What you did for the Front End Grill That is Amazing!!!
WOW THAT WAS F*ING AWESOME
6:15 - PLEASE, PLEASE, NEVER USE UNDERCOATING, especially if you plan to sell the vehicle. Unless you plan to completely remove all old paint, prime, and THEN apply undercoating, DON'T DO IT. The stuff used in this video will flake and peel off of any surface that is not completely clean, free of rust, and dry. "Blackening" the wheel well area will cause well-educated prospective buyers to turn away from your vehicle. Moisture will get behind this paint and ENCOURAGE rust. All you're doing is hiding the truth. Power washing your engine compartment is also a BAD IDEA. CAREFULLY COVER ALL THE ELECTRONICS (which is most everything) IF YOU INSIST ON POWER WASHING!!!!! A lot of the cleaning and other aspects of this video are good, though.
Paul Hoskins I think if he did rust convertor/reformer it would look better and not be a rubber tar coating on the frame.
i was salty he didn't feather edge the damn door jambs
Paul Hoskins oil undercoating like krown is good to put on whatever, but that asphalt black crap is exactly that, it’s crap that just makes everything worse

Damn y’all sprayed the engine bay without taping up stuff lmao
What would you need to tape off to spray the engine bay?
@@PainterFRO Ford electrics and water don't mix. Not to mention many engine components do not get factory rust proofing and are vulnerable to rusting. In my opinion this video indicates everything to fear from diy car sales. Rushed repairs, lipstick over dents, and not removing rust prior to spraying aerosols.
@@macmurati Funny I've never had a problem with cleaning a ford engine without covering anything and all I've ever had is Fords. Any car sales are all about appearance. I own a body shop and work on even factory car lots cars weekly. You would see the same thing if you went to a car dealer who even has their own body shops..Most used cars get touched up and it's really up to the consumer to thoroughly look over a car before they buy it.
@@PainterFRO this thread is starting to sound like a great reason to buy a car from a place that prides themselves on oem+ mentality. No offense to anyone trying to earn a quick buck. But in such a competitive industry and market the only thing that matters is what your customers think of you. If you sell a quality product it will speak for itself.
@@macmurati Clearly if thats what your looking for you aren't gonna guy it from a DIY CZcamsr...Its really all up to the consumer.

Damn looks pretty good. I got the same year single cab though I’ve plasti dipped the whole truck and blacked it out with A/T tires it looks sick. They really are good little cheap trucks.
When I’m looking at a truck, I’d rather see a frame with surface rust than see a freshly “under coated” frame. Because behind that undercoating, it’s eating itself from the inside out. However, I can imagine the average ignoramus buying a truck wouldn’t realize.

J D I’m not much into sweets but thanks
I knew an old mechanic back in the 80s who would put used motor oil on a spray bottle and coat his undercarriage/frame with it once a year. He would park on the street for about a week afterward. It stops rust dead in its tracks but I'm sure it infuriates tree hugging hippie types. I don't do it but I would consider it if I found myself with a real rust issue. Lets face it, children's breakfast cereal is full of roundup, most produce is sprayed with neurotoxins, and meat is full of antibiotics and synthetic hormones, a bit of dino drippings isn't going to make much difference.
@@murrayshekelberg9754 I kind of do the same thing but cleaner. I couple times a year (before and after winter) I get underneath my car with a rag and some old motor oil and I wipe everything down thoroughly. It has worked very well to prevent rust on cars I daily drive in snow and salt. Spraying is probably faster, but messier. If you wipe it on with a rag you don't get any drips and I can park it in my garage straight after. You also get a good look at everything under there.
Cab corners are empty tubes that have little holes for if water was to get in to come out, but that is actually what makes it rust. Find a piece of rubber that will fill the holes and on the last hole pump oil into it and that will stop any cab corners from rusting from the inside like they do 90% of the time. Thought I would share the knowledge of rust prevention with oil.
Change my mind.
Ford has made more money selling parts for the ranger than they did selling the ranger.
Just bought a 2002 Ford ranger with 77k miles on it 😁
Suicide doors work, interior is immaculate. It just needed breaks and a fuel pump. Body has some rust but other than that, it's friggin awesome

When a buyer sees that a seller is putting forth the effort into product presentation, the buyer is more inclined to purchase said product or more products from the seller.
When my family picked up my truck from the dealer, it was detailed, vacuumed, placed up front in the showroom, and it even had a cute bow on top and balloons attached to the mirrors. The staff made us feel at home and gave us vouchers for the local buffet in town. Because we had such a great experience buying my truck, we came back a couple weeks later and bought a truck for Daddy.

My dad has a 1999 Ranger with 197,000 miles on it. Taken off road, used to haul yard waste quite often. It is mint compared to that truck. Someone did not take care of that at all.
The only mechanical problem with my dad's truck is the auto door locks don't work.
It had very oxidized paint, but I used Meguiars Mirror Glaze Cleaner Wax on it and in about an hour the paint was as glossy as the day he bought it.
I was the one that bought the blue ranger. Rims that was put on did not have proper lugs and scared lug bolts. Was happy when I bought it, but as goes with anything you buy used, I had other issues after driven a bit. Had to replace exhaust and fix a misfire. And I was told that the vehicle was owned by his father in Georgia and was fixed up for his brother, who didn’t want it. Not mad tho! A little more investment and it will be a great truck.
I love older model trucks way more. Especially the tacoma.
