“Museum Queeries: Two-Spirit, Indigiqueer, and LGBTTQ* Interventions into Museums, Archives, and Curation”
Panelists: Adrian Deveau, Angela Failler, Adrienne Huard, Michelle McGeough, Heather Milne, and Monica Eileen Patterson
Panelists share a teaser of their respective book chapters at the soft launch of the edited volume, "Museum Queeries: Two-Spirit, Indigiqueer, and LGBTTQ* Interventions into Museums, Archives, and Curation" at the Halifax Central Library.
As part of the larger "Exhibiting Theory" series, this edited volume prioritizes Two-Spirit, Indigiqueer, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, and queer contributions into museums and other curatorial spaces as well as the field of museum studies. The idea of “queering” or “queerying” is not only about addressing the representation of gender and sexuality but also challenging normative formations, including white privilege, racism, and settler colonialism, as they operate alongside and with transphobia and homophobia in these contexts.
