Don't you just love it when Matt finds a super obscure-and super weird-beat em' up to check out for his-and our-entertainment?
damn it's like its his job or something
"Always has been."
You know what else Capcom should've considered as well? Make a new Final Fight game : ( .
Robocop 2 is fun to rewatch because he’s robocop for the entire runtime. You can’t beat that quantity of robocop
All of a sudden, this games has the same vibes as Rival Turf (SNES)
If you looking for obscure, Konami made an Asterix beat em up, with a polished version of the Simpson engine.
The rolling man must be the saddest boss in a beat'em up.
Also, I like that Gil's special move is becoming the Vitruvian Man.
I do wish these enemies had names, it's the quintessential beat em up detail!
I'm so glad we both said "Is that Blade!?" at the exact same time XD
Stage 4's boss, whatever your name is, Nadia (Secret of Blue Water) called. She wants her clothes back.
At 13:25: It's Blade Trinity!
The title of this game called karate blazers sounds like something that you wear as a jacket if you were going to a fighting tournament arcade edition.
10:56 It's not "Karate Blazers" in Japanese. "Karate" is written 空手
Apparently the official name in Japanese is 闘神ブレイザーズ (Tohshin Blazers, "tohshin" meaning roughly "war god") but the second kanji on the title screen looks like 神 ("god") and 人 ("person") mashed together and doesn't appear in my dictionary.
14:26. What Matt? You don't recognize the Great Wall Of NYC? It's an iconic land mark!
I don't get this game. Nobody's wearing any blazers.
Let alone KARATE Blazers
There seem to be no blazers and only some Karate in this title. I'm reminded of Nelson in that Simpsons episode where they see Naked Lunch and he says "I can think of two things wrong with the name of that movie."
Ever played the arcade beat-em up, B.Rap Boys? It has parts where you ride a bike and beat up people by popping wheelies and other bike tricks.
B. Rap Boys is the ship, love that game! 💯🔥
Glen and Gil got to show up in Sonic Wings 3.
Jack referenced Wha Happened and you Oh Muscly One in a video recently and now you use him in a cutaway, how serendipitous
I've been trying to remember the name of a SNES beat 'em up that had a heavyset cop you could play as. You could have both players pick the same character and I remember the cop's regular uniform was blue and his clone color was red.
Sounds like Rival Turf?
@@flophouseplays --- It looks like it could be, my memory of the game is so old that I can barely remember it, and of course I have no way to contact the young man who let me watch him play his copy 30 years ago, let alone if he'd remember. All the same, thanks for pointing me in this direction.
It's a shame this beat em up never got a 16bit console port to the Genesis or SNES
Is this the first instance of a rolling enemy and no reference to Fred durst?
I don't see what game this is trying to directly copy; but it is certainly different enough to be unique and not have anyone try to claim a lawsuit. I am waiting for this to release on arcade archives for the Switch!
Matt, please play Fight'N Rage
It's a really good indie beat’em up made by one guy except for the music
The only cop I trust is Samurai Cop.
The characters in this remind me of "Miami Connection". I really think Matt would appreciate the film. ROCK THE NINJA!!!
Matt always love to play the most obscure arcade beat em ups in his channel. I mean this game is straight up Final Fight.
No keep rollin joke? Cmon Matt, what a wasted opportunity
Too bad karate went out of the olympics, my dream of becoming a karate blazer just died😢
You never had a chance to begin with. You’re no fabric, just a human. A miserable pile of secrets.
i remember playing this at Mr Arcade long ass time ago
13:32 We call that a "Schick Quattro"
Clang, clang goes the trolley was an unexpected cue from Matt
I ♥ the walking animation! 😂
I never heard the term mega crush either....I always calls these "screen clear" moves. I guess though technically not all these moves clear the screen, so mega crush makes more sense. I played through this game in MAME and that's the only reason I know of its existence. I think this is still and arcade exclusive. It would have made a great SNES game. I did enjoy it. However it's rare to find a beat-em-up I absolutely hate. The only one I can think of I absolutely hate is Guardians of the Hood....another arcade exclusive game.
The sword guy is a mix of Blade and Toguro from Yu Yu Hakusho!
14:27 i dunno about 4 but there are grandfather, uncle, and father andores.
I might be wrong but wasn't to bomb in super probotector/contra 3 called the mega crusher, I might also have it mixed up with the mega smasher from guyver
Hell yeah!
I always knew "mega crushes" as desperation moves.
It's always surprising when Matt finds an obscure game like that.
knights of the round table did the multiple enemy boss thing with the rapier guy
You should give Fight N' Rage a try, its got multiple routes and way too many ending.
That robocop 2 arcade game is goated yo.
I'd love to see you play more Robocop: Rogue City!
...what about Samurai Cop?
What about Cyborg Cop?
I wish my karate classes let me wear Blazers, that'd be much cooler
You gotta play mug smashers next, another final fight knock off
Have you tackled on Rival Turf/ Rushin Beat series? [SNES]
Sexy Jaleco soundtrack AHOY!
What a story, Mark.
I need that mega crush video in my life!
Any plans for a takeover 2? I really liked it. I am kinda glad good openbor games still keep the candle lit on these games.
Maybe someday!
@Flophouse Plays My dentist had this game in his office for kids to play. I almost forgot about this game! 🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂😂
So the last boss was the first boss? Odd choice.
After Sega, on the Axl Stone ripoff 🤣
What up
LMAO can you imagine the unintentional MEME comedy if the ending screen has the girl with the scrolls sitting on the couch with the Karate Blazers standing behind her?! I remember seeing this actually as a kid in a Nevada casino arcade and it was a two screen machine with 2 characters assigned to each. Very ambitious for a rather "mid" beat-em-up that wasn't Final Fight. The fat guys "grunt" when they fell down made me laugh. "Grab their tibbles and TWIST'em!"
I looked up the boss names the first boss 1 Cha Cha 2 Death maracas 3 Deli slicer and the Subway boys 4 Tum ta Tum Tums
YAAAAWWWWW
Nothing speaks to "mid-level trash" like every character using the same knockdown pose. There's just something so funny noticing that because it applied to the heroes and the enemies, except the fat guys. Maybe that's just a product of how early in the genre it is.
must like for the pro-wrestling reference, that too one of MxM.
I haven't heard or seen this. Why is this not on my emulator
It is but I definitely work on the older MAME32 emulator. I mean the old one.
