I have been using packing cubes for years. A real game changer. Now there are compression packing cubes that work even better. Also one traveler suggests putting the shoes in between the bars of the suitcase. That really helps. I admire that you can use only a carry on.
Poor baby Buddy, did I hear him purring? He was closing his eyes a little and I have heard cat “experts” say that means they love you. You are great at packing. I don’t think I have ever gone anywhere with just a carry on. Am the queen of being prepared. Of course when I lived outside the US I had to have an almost empty bag to carry back everything i needed to bring back. So glad you had a good time
I had to laugh watching you trying to close your suitcase. The struggle of trying to travel carry-on only. Been there! However, I now use compression packing cubes, limit the number of shoes and use the hotel laundry so I don’t have to bring so many clothes. Like others I like a backpack as I can’t lug a tote.
OMG I laughed so hard as it brought back many memories. My first suggestion is that shoes do not have to be packed together and you can often slide one at a time along the spine of the case and a row of single shoes in the dip where the handle goes. I have switched to a backpack rather than a handled personal item bag as I just cannot carry anything on my shoulder through the whole airport. Wal-Mart sells a great school type back pack for less than $25 which is waterproof, Swiss Alps brand. I pack my compression cubes so they don't make a big bulge in the top when double zipped and if it takes twice the number of cubes, that's fine as long as they don't look like a cake that rose in the middle only. You and I have the same body shape and coloring so I think we have similar issues packing our size of garments, LOL!

It's cuz once you find a mask that fits and you love, you only want your own. Btw, as you get older (like me) you'll need a bigger pill box, lol! (My mom had a small luggage case.). Ah ha, I knew that would happen. Every time I see a woman on CZcams say they are travelling with carry on only they end up saying, “I had to put this, this and that in my husband’s luggage.” Conclusion? It doesn’t work. I will not even attempt it. I will be taking the biggest suitcase allowable and packing whatever I want and checking it in. I hope you have a wonderful time!
Oh Cathy, I couldn't stop laughing when you realized oh oh this isn't going to all fit, BEEN THERE!!! I have a similar black Coach tote that I just can't part with, been so many places with me too. How did it go with the TSA bag, mine was stuffed like that too and they wanted to confiscate some of mine too (even though it fit in the bag) so luckily Hubby wasn't taking liquids on so we could separate into 2 bags and count 1 for him otherwise I would have lost items too....even though they fit in that bag, they just said I had too many UGH!!! I can't believe you managed to pack so much (minus the dryer 😩), good job!
Hi Justine, no issues with TSA this year. Maui had the new screening machines where liquids and everything else can stay in your suitcase, it makes things so much quicker. Liquids are so difficult to pack in a carry on when you have to take sunscreen, etc... Wishing you a fabulous weekend! xo

I have that same RFID purse that I travel with, it's lightweight, plenty of room I took to NYC in January, and it didn't weigh me down or hurt my shoulder carrying all day sightseeing.
If you took a better personal bag instead of your coach tote bag like a weekender that will fit under the airline seat you would be able to take all that. Very entertaining video. Love the cat.

I’ve been able to pack my carry-on case and small backpack for trips of up to a week with the help of these packing cubes - they’re so great for organization and squeezing things in to the case. My biggest problem is trying to get my cosmetics/skin care in. It seems to be the bulkiest, most awkward bag of stuff! Doesn’t seem fair that my husband only has to pack an electric razor, toothbrush/paste and deodorant. I seem to have 3 or 4 times the amount of stuff 😂 I’ve been known to check my carry-on case in on the way home because I use my beach bag to carry anything I bought on the trip. I figure if I lose my dirty laundry or it’s delayed on the way home it’s not a big disaster. Having carry-on luggage as much as possible is such a huge time saver - it’s worth the slight hassle of seeing what fits in the case and shuffling things around! I’ve been known to have to wait up to 2 hrs for a suitcase on the carousel before, and that was almost as long as the flight took! 😂
Yes, carry-on is so nice when you land and can just leave the airport and not have to stand around hoping that your suitcase made it to the destination with you. If I was to do this again, I would pack less clothes. Maui was so laid back most days it was bathing suits and cover ups. Oh well, live and learn!
Cathy, many thanks for this video. Why don't you consider replacing your black bag for electronics with a backpack? If you tried, you would agree a backpack is much more convenient. Especially a Kipling (or Kipling style) backpack.
You need to buy compression pouches - they go down even smaller. I would rent snorkel gear , takes up far too much room. Wow - way too much stuff!! Hope you had a good time - be interesting to know what you didn't wear!

Hi Cathy, Oh my, I felt your pain when you were trying to close your suitcase! I've had the same issue and I actually have found that sometimes packing cubes take up more space. I love the organization of them, however, if you folded your clothes into 'bricks' and put them on the other side (using the dips), I think you would have been able to fit more. Your beach bag would have fit flat on the other side as well. Even so, you were able to get a lot in your Monos bag. I LOVE mine. :). Hope you have (had) a great time in Hawaii!!
All I can say is thank goodness you're staying in the US and won't have to go through Customs. If they opened that case and ruffled around inside you'd never ger it closed again. Bon Voyage!

I've done carry on only to Italy and it worked. The only thing that didn't fit was my snorkel mask, but I did carry on only to Maui.

Carry ons have to be a certain size; no bigger.
This is the biggest size carry-on allowed. Thankfully, it all worked out in the end. 😉

I have started using compression bags and they have really cut down on the pounds in my bags and extra space is freed up.

Cathy, many thanks for this video. Why don't you consider replacing your black bag for electronics with a backpack? If you tried, you would agree a backpack is much more convenient. Especially a Kipling (or Kipling style) backpack.
I have thought about it, but I just like my tote. My daughter uses a backpack and prefers it.
I like soft luggage better. It is more flexible.

I don't shop much when away on vacation. If I do buy something, it goes into my suitcase or tote bag.
You need to buy compression pouches - they go down even smaller. I would rent snorkel gear , takes up far too much room. Wow - way too much stuff!! Hope you had a good time - be interesting to know what you didn't wear!

Hi Cathy, Oh my, I felt your pain when you were trying to close your suitcase! I've had the same issue and I actually have found that sometimes packing cubes take up more space. I love the organization of them, however, if you folded your clothes into 'bricks' and put them on the other side (using the dips), I think you would have been able to fit more. Your beach bag would have fit flat on the other side as well. Even so, you were able to get a lot in your Monos bag. I LOVE mine. :). Hope you have (had) a great time in Hawaii!!

All I can say is thank goodness you're staying in the US and won't have to go through Customs. If they opened that case and ruffled around inside you'd never ger it closed again. Bon Voyage!
