      Back then people BUILT things up to a SPEC. Now they build everything DOWN to a price. Also know days 95% of items are MADE to break at a certain point in its life. Most likely they build it to break right after whatever warranty it has. Today you get what you pay for if you can read between the lines of all the BIG sell words they try to use to brainwash you into thinking its something its not.

      @@4gbmeans4gb61 yup my Memphis PRx1500.1 blew 1 week out and warranty. At the time the amp was $500 for 1500 watts. I mean taraamps is $200 for 3k real watts. The whole point was so it can last me forever. Yet it blew. I fixed it myself 8 months later the fets went out. Maybe I got a lemon. Memphis repaired it for free thankfully but wow I'm never going with super expensive brands anymore hoping they last. I'm going best bang for buck that does real rated power so if it fails in a year I don't cate

    I use to run T2 with Rockford T2500 but can’t afford the $3k price tag no more. So now I’m running the DB15 to a single Massive 12” XL 122R. Lots of people may talk down on it. But it’s doing it’s job. For the fraction of cost.
    Good vid btw.

    First off, really like your videos Ryan. I own a Rockville rxd-m4. (The one big D tested). It’s actually the second one. The first one blew. But the one I have now has been going strong for almost 2 years with no complaints. IMO Rockville is a great budget company with excellent customer service. They exchanged the first one with no questions asked. The one I have now is powering 2 skar ddx12s. And they hit hard. I have no doubts that these amps will produce their rated power (be it dynamic) but you will have to provide them with enough power. Rxd-m4 is rated at about 1500 rms (cea) and I am surely getting more than that with my amp even after box rise.
    Just wanted to put my 2 cents out there.
    Keep up the good work. And merry Christmas.

    Rockville is a legit company..... they are trying their best to gain trust of consumers and build a name for themselves. I would not doubt them, and that certificate looks legit, why would you think they go out of their way to make that? You're thinking too much of all the overrated budget amps and your views have be askew. Rockville is a brand you can trust, yes they make entry level stuff but they are also doing their best to stand behind their name.

    Thanks for doing these laboratory reviews!..yeah
    they're not going to simulate the real world, but who can afford to do that on their own? When I read reviews from people who've had these burn, I wonder how well they were installed and just how much dog hair, McD fries, blunts, etc, are acting as insulation (that's probably why most don't have fans). So thanks for that.
    I'd like to request one of your current Dyno tests of the Rockville DB45, the DB 16s cousin. I'm torn between the DB45, the Pioneer GM-D8604, and the RF R400D...they're about the same price...with similar reviews.

    Well... I was gonna say I think I found an amp that does 2000watts rms at 1 Ohm for 160 bucks free shipping new... But the price has sky rocketed on the amp. I used to run a MBQUART DA1-3000.1 on my two 12s at 1 Ohm. At competition it put out 1100 watts at 34hz. I have no idea what the reactive load at 34hz was. 34hz was my peak SPL. Anyway it's like 300+ bucks on eBay now. And I almost didn't buy it cus at the time 160 for it made me think it couldn't have more power than the hfi2000D I had. It was an improvement. Hifonics did 912watts at 34Hz.

The reason why the American bass amps didn't hit their rated power is because you don't have enough power to push them you can't run those apps because you're have insufficient power you need power to run those

      Ryan Blankenship man I'm just giving you a hard time. Now I feel bad. Anyhow thanks for the review. My dilemma at the moment....... Wife's Christmas present was a Chinese Android head unit (which is overwhelmingly f@$#ing awesome for under 200$) and an entire new speaker install for her new Veloster. So I got all the interior speakers setup, didn't want much wattage but the Chinese HUs put out next to nothing RMS. So bought a Dual 400w to run set of component in front and mid bass 6.5s backseat. Dual amp blew immediately. But already in the middle of install, so I took the amp running her subs and put it to the cabin speakers, but her losing her sub amp.......so. TALK ABOUT LONG WINDED!!!!!!!! My options are either giving her the Rockville 1500 out of my trunk and buying something new for myself, or buying a new amp for her. So the question is, can I beat the 1500w Rockville for under a hundred bucks??

    I seen that you tested with a 40Hz test tone, I THINK that Rockville tests with white noise which is easier on the amplifier I believe.

    Please let me make it crystal clear before someone finds out the hard way. I currently have 2 different db series amplifiers that I have to send back out of my own pocket. Yes they will do pretty close to and above what they advertise but they will not do it for long. The damn things must have their own watches because they absolutely know what time it is. As soon as that warranty runs out those bastards are clocking out. Just for your confidence yes I do know exactly how to install and use this equipment. I've been doing installs for 20+ yrs so I would say I'm qualified and don't know anyone who would argue different. All installs were at 4 ohms with 14.25 volts after drops. These amps ran off of their own designated AGM no sharing at all. When the first one went to hell(DB55) I replaced it with a DB45 and also replaced the soundquest AGM with a Shuriken. Each crapped out in 2 months or less with totally different problems. They were by no means abused, gains never past %30. I know what I'm doing and what I'm not. So no more Rockville Amps till I see proof that they have improved their quality. I really wanted to like them but...
    Oh yeah FUCK those tiny speaker terminals! They will cause a brain tumor so fuck them like cancer.

      @joshhanson6777 Před 6 lety +1

      Emmitt Bishop I've bought a few of there amps that have been blown just to repair them and I noticed that most of them have the same problem. The toroids on the output section don't have much if any silicone or glue stabilizing them. I mean its just held down by two thin sections of wire to the board and the toroids are heavy. They eventually circum to vibration and break. Also if you notice the transistors are bent over 90 degrees to attach to the heatsink and they break at the bend, especially the output sections of the bigger amps because they have larger fets and the thick metal legs dont take kindly to being bent. I believe if people glue the toroids down and lay solder over the legs of the fets the amps would last forever. I know this is rockvilles job and not ours but this advice would save some shipping headaches!

      My 2nd one just blew was nowhere near full tilt. I'd just hooked it up last night. voltage was showing right at 13 volts. The bass knob was about half way up and my subs are wired to 2 Ohm and read a little over 2 ohm at resting. I'm not going to try a 3rd one. I'm looking for a replacement now though.

    • @faaaaq
      @faaaaq Před 4 lety

      They are likely going into protect because Rockville builds in some annoyingly strict protection. Ohms too low, protect. Voltage too low or too high, protect. Everyone does that but Rockville seems to be the most strict. My db15 would go into protect like crazy in my old car because the alternator couldn't keep up. Running it in my new car with a 240amp alt and not having any problems. Ive had it for a year and two months.

      About a week in with the db45, running four 12s. Had it screwed down to the box, and then read that that might not be the best place for it. Don't want to put a bunch of holes in my van, so I decided to bungee cord it to the back of a seat. Damn thing pushes those 12s pretty well. If it fails, I'll come back and let you know.

      My charging system can't follow (chevy Volt)
      I added a capacitor but both amps shut down sometimes during high pull (low voltage protection I think).

    • @beardedforlife3740
      @beardedforlife3740 Před 3 lety +3

      Believe it or not, but the average home has 15- 20 amp circuit breakers. Doesn't really take much to overload a breaker in a house specially when using high current equipment like an amplifier that uses more current than your power supply has to offer
