- In this episode I am working on my daughter's 2014 Jeep Patriot, installing an aftermarket CarPlay stereo. The focus of this video is to show some wire fishing tips to get new wires from the car body into the back hatch, though a very tight rubber conduit.

Thanks man
No problem. Thanks for watching.
Did you get an after market wiring harness or did you just connect all the wires in the stereo directly to the cars wiring? If you used a wiring harness where did you get it?
I used an aftermarket wiring harness to connect it all up. I have added a link to it in the video description. Thanks for watching.
@@Ciband Thank you!
My 2016 Jeep had a white factory plug in like the one in your video with the red wire. Mine has 3 wires in it. Do I need to do anything with these wires as there is no adaptor plug in for this. The adaptor is connected to the other 2 plug ins.
If it is disconnected from the factory radio then you don’t need to do anything.
It is probably for some option that your car just doesn’t have.
Sir, did that aftermarket radio fit perfectly into the dash without any modifications?
Almost. The radio was very close to fitting the double DIN adapter I had to purchase. I had to shave down the bottom edge to enlarge the opening about 3-4mm.
I have the exact car as your daughter, and today, I will install the backup camera. I installed the Android 10.1 head unit 2 days ago, which is a huge difference.
I wondering if you could help me I turn my radio on and the speakers make like a click the volume stays at zero no matter how much you turn but it does let me change the station is that more than just needing a brand new radio?
If that is the factory radio, that sounds very similar to what I was dealing with.
I would say the factory radio is toast and you need a new one. Check out my Amazon links for my recommendation.
Thanks for watching.
@@savannahbrown5904 had a similar issue on my 2015 this past winter. Theres a chip on the motherboard that usually needs the solder remelted(hot and cold contraction and bumps have known to be the culprit). Hot air gun for 1 min and something to put pressure on it(wooden skewer) till the solder re flows. Worked like a charm, for a few months... Bluetooth still works thankfully, will be installing aftermarket sometime soon.
Did u need that 150 dollar jeep modulator. I have a 2014 same model and want to upgrade the radio but they're telling me I need that $150 modulator.
I did not.
This Jeep is about as base model as you can get so there was nothing fancy. No steering wheel controls or any other integrated systems.
It was just an old school radio install with a harness adapter.
Thank you
Glad I looked this up, a store wanted to chare me $250 for the same.
Where do you live at boss?

I tapped into my teenage years and used electrical tape 🤘🏽
