- Grass and mold started to grow inside this Lexus GS 300 after the owner left it uncovered outdoors for six years. The mold developed after water found its way into the vehicle through a leak in the sunroof. The owner didn't discover the leak until five months before the detailing. WD Detailing’s Brent Dicesare tells us how he and his partner, RJ Wagner, removed the mold from both the interior and exterior of the car.

How do people allow their cars to get in that kind of state for a point where it develops its own ecosystem?!

think about this for a second, the mold in this car has lived through
three presidents.
Actually that is not true each president is the president for 4 years right?????
This was more of a cosmetic fix, the mold will eventually come back. Especially considering there is probably mold all under the carpets and inside the seats that they can’t get to. Owner is most likely going to sell it to someone and make it their problem.
Absolutely. The foam insulation underneath and the floor pan has still got many many litres of water inside.
Yes the mold will come back. There were mold spores left everywhere and I bet that the floor underneath the carpet is saturated with water.
Noooo
So you're telling me that if my car got wet (yeah i let the rainwater sip into the back hood for just one minute and now my car smelled terrible i think fungus) so the smell will linger there even i gonna send it for deep cleaning??!?
I feel like driving in biohazard environment for this couple of weeks.
So i need to buy a new car??!?
@Semerah Padi If it was only a minute, It should be fine to get it professionally cleaned. Just make sure they do a good job. Then get yourself a ozone machine and let it sit in your car for 24 hours after it's been clean to kill any possible mold. Maybe you can pay them extra to rip up the carpet and clean underneath.
You dont clean the mold...you get a new car tbh
Ahhh.... finally something's i can watch while i eat.

How on earth can car cleaning be so fascinating… it is so satisfying to watch
theres literally a whole ecosytem in there got moss a lake n everything
Ikr.
Unreal how clean they got that car! I would be wary of the mold coming back, but considering the upholstery can’t be removed, these guys did an amazing job and their hard work will definitely slow any reoccurring mold issues. I do hope the owner keeps up with regular cleanings and got that sun window fixed!
As a side note to the well-meaning commenters out there, don’t be too quick to judge the owners of anything that becomes dirty. You never know what they might be struggling with, so this is a gentle reminder to have compassion.
At least he’s wearing gloves unlike a lot of the other guys that come on these sorts of videos 😂
“If it’s not wet enough it can actually damage the carpet” , take some notes gentleman!🤓😂
Noted yet another reason carpet is a no go for me lol 😂
@@MrCchh7 I don’t think she was actually referring to carpet mate.
@@AccountHolder007 lol I want referring to actual carpet too if you get my drift lol
@@MrCchh7 Hold up, mad suspicious.
@@AccountHolder007 lol u get it now??
Without removing the carpets, will mould not stay under there? To me it seems like the underside will still be really dirty at this point
What that car really needs is fire.

Yes the mold would still be in the car. Also under the plastic door moldings. Plus with the water from the extractor can cause the mold to be moved around releasing more spores, even after he ran ozone. Along with the tornado pushing it deeper into the rug. he also should've cleaned the bottom side of the carpet.
@@applejuice4791 he said he couldn’t lift the carpet because it was really stapled in there and it wouldn’t fit the same if the carpet came out. He normally would have.
@@ioncekilledamanwithmyshoe it doesnt matter. he still shouldve or its not clean. If the car was taken to a body shop, it wouldve been pulled. Ive been detailing for years. he shouldve pulled it
At first, it looked liked like an old abandoned pool!🤣

Honestly when a vehicle is this bad even after it's visually clean, there is always Mold in places you can't get and you'll have health issues if you spent to much time in it, at a minimum all carpet and headliner should be replaced. Just cleaned out my wife's car that had a leak for a month under the driver's matt and I removed the carpet, seats center console remover and trashed all soimd dreading since you would destroy it if you tried to clean it. I cleaned, dried the inside twice and pressure washed the Matt's and carpet and treated with a enzyme cleaner then extracted and fan dried it. Installed new sound deadening and put it back together. I also did the same thing to a friend's car that broke 2 5 gallon jugs of water and it flooded the floor and all the lower vents were submerged so they were removed and cleaned. It's alot of work to do this properly. I charged him 700 to do a full inside and outside detail, and that took a full 2 days.
That was my first thought… this car will never be clean enough to be safe to spend time in/
700 dollars for a friend?
This owner is totally going to sell it to someone else.
Wot? No taking the door panel off and removing any mold in there? More a cosmetic touch up than a deep clean.
Yes! Also there is tons is mold under that carpet, the vent on the carpet is wide open and he thinks all that mold just stopped? Nice cosmetic, but still cosmetic
The speakers, electrical connections…
@@nolitimere11 Haha! Right you are!
Who cares if it smells like swamp water?
@@nolitimere11 haha, quick clean today, Craigs List tomorrow.
A person who does not follow his car will get what he deserves in the end) When he travels in it for a couple of months with mold ..
Great cleaning service but from technical perspective the insulation of the carpet under it is still a swamp, let alone the roof liner and every single plastic like the door trims and the dashboard needs to be removed and thoroughly cleaned inside out aswell as any passage on the car body that can be reached as the ozone doesn't help with MOLD SPORES, let alone the seats which are useless once they get damp in a moldy environment unless you remove the covers and let the foams sit under hot sunlight for a week after cleaned.
I can understand the owner needed a quick deep wash and those guys are unable to do anything more for the agreed price or intervene with the car anything more, but this car and any that gets water damage are BIOHAZARD.
You cannot convince me that there is not mold in the foam of the seats.
Thank you for the update, Insider..!! That's an awesome job..!!
"check on your car before it starts growing" is the best line of this whole video taken out of context.
Amazing work... also incredible that there are people willing to go to such extent and use expertise to get something this dirty, clean like that. Pretty sure that if I showed up with a car looking like that anywhere here where I live, there would not be a single business that would say - sure, we'll take care of it. No matter the price. One look and they'd all say it cannot be cleaned, get rid of it, period.
This is so soothing! ☺️🥰
Wow amazing how you cleaned it so good.
I wish i new a detailer like this guy
That’s not grass, dude, that’s algae. Also…Oxygen to the third degree?
I had a similar problem with my GS300. When I came back from a 3 week holiday I discovered the drivers side was full of water, the pipe leading from the roof had come apart and it was draining into the footwell. Cleaning the carpet is only part of the cure, underneath is a lot of thick sound deadening that also needs soaks up the water, the carpet needs to be lifted to do a proper job.
Unless it's a collectable, I'd get a new car and not waste my time
Just thinking that myself. Why'd they spend hundreds of dollars to have it cleaned? It's junked!
I think its probably a car that was caught in a flood and their lying about how it got that way, you can see the water level on the outside of the car.
They probably bought at auction or from a junk yard for a few hundred bucks and are trying to flip it and get a few thousand bucks out of it
So satisfying to watch
Excellent work!
Nice transformation 💯
Wow you guys are magical. Love it
So people actually managed to do this and meanwhile my mom is scolding me cuz of my socks on the bed
Where do you live
Well its cuz those socks lead to this! Lol jk.
be happy you have a mom
Whut? Why are socks on the bed an issue ( unless you walk around the house on your socks, then i can see the issue)
I can see how shoes on the bed are an issue, but if you keep your socks clean i would imagine theyre better than your bare feet.
Your feet have oils and skin cells that can build up on the bed and leave it smellig like feet. But if your socks are clean then its just fabric on fabric.
Outstanding job
What a superb job!
excellent cleaning job!
Wow....highly impressed.
Grim...once mould gets in, it's virtually impossible to get rid of it completely
Damn. That was satisfying
Wow nice work
This is so satisfying
this was oddly satisfying to watch.
Wow this is such a great video
Well there goes my 7 minutes just watching this going ooo yea that looks good.
Well, I use 8 min to watch this 😌😌
@@conepnc lol then my audience asks why I am not posting regularly.
Carpet did not look good in the after-pic - I'd be hesitant to sit in that thing.
WDD did a phenomenal job with what they were given, that was a nightmare!
Nice job. Seems daft that the drain on your shop vac is at a high point on the reservoir - (noticed you had to tip it over to empty it?)
Imagine the job satisfaction)) these guys a great!
mold releases spores which can get into places that are hard to reach, they should've still ripped the carpet out even if it was stapled, or its just gonna regrow in the car. never saw them ripping out the plastic moldings around the doors which can house alot of mold underneath. Plus doing under the carpet and the floor pan. How I see it, is this guy just did what you would see, but not completely get rid of the mold. And yes I know he ran ozone, but with breaking apart the mold, it can release new spores that where not easily accessible too with the ozone. especially with him using the Tornador, he is just pushing mold deeper into the carpet as well. honestly they should've stripped everything out and pressure washed all the plastic and carpet, then extracted the carpet and let it dry.
Seals do give. Sunroof maintenance is a must to avoid costly future repairs.
I commend these guys for doing what my OCD would never allow me to.
actually i'm also kind of a little bit obssesive-compulsive as well and my compulsion is watching these type of videos 😂😂😭
i got ear wax removal, deep house cleaning, surgeries... it's like non stop.
Do you also change the cabin filter?
Good job
I question if he could have replaced the carpet cheaper than paying you to clean it? I understand cleaning the seats and door skins, but a set of new carpet for that lexus is $2-300 online. Thats a lot of labor you did to salvage the old carpet to still have nast underneath.
What about the foam under the leather in the seats? Or does the leather keep everything from reaching the foam?
What's the floor metal like? Rusted?
What kind of vacum do you have ?
SATISFYING
There was a car in that mold
“Grass growing in it” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"oxygen to the third degree" 👌
I really recommend ammo nyc videos if youre into car detailing the guys a legend
The whole point of snow foam is to get as much dirt off the car without touching it. You’re not supposed to use a mitt or any other cloth with snow foam, you’re supposed rinse off the snow foam after a couple of mins and then use a hand wash.
Ammo NYC would be proud!
Grass and moss growing in your car sounds like a neat idea but is probably impractical
Some unsuspecting person got duped until buying this car two weeks later.
Good tips at the ensd
Gs ❤️
What Foam Canon is that?
Wow I have the same steamer :D
Using the Tornador for the mold removal was a NO-NO!! Guys have gone to the hospital from APC all day in the Tornador; it atomizes things so finely you can breath it in without knowing. Even with your respirator on you blew billions mold spores all over your shop and potentially in your eyes lol
It’s the ‘lol’ at the end for me 😂
I can tell these guys use RCP America Equipment , good on them great company for detail supplies
Tri clean? Could u link product Please
I hope there was a strong dose of antibacterial/fungus soak after the cleaning. Now I wonder what is lurking inside the AC evaporator coil.
This car has its own ecosystem
thats literally a whole ecosystem in that car
The fact that this is a GS300 breaks my heart!
Is it possible to add a disinfectant liquid like Clorox inside the PowerWasher's water ?
I had zero faith in that carpet wow very impressive
Isn't ozone pretty bad? How are they dealing with it.
What about the behind the door panels and the dash? Vents?
Surely it will come back?
whole ecosystem in this car
I am actually learning this at the moment and i find its so fun to do dispise being a girl .I love auto detailing.🥺🙃😊
The "man" who owned this car had no idea what it was... a Japanese beauty with a 2JZ engine 😍
I can’t help but think that the floorpan would be totally rusted. If not it will be.
Also very interesting
That's some patience I'll never have
Great job but it must b expensive. All that hard work.
What about the mold behind the door panels and dash and so on? I wouldn't feel good riding that car with windows closed while there is most likely crap behind the panels.
Was that Moss for a carpet?
you know its bad when grass can grow inside the car
What kind of car is worth restoring like this? This has gotta take at least a week to clean out?
How did it get that bad!?
Bro has a ecosystem growing in his car...
The part where he was using a a brush on the tire to agitate it, I thought he was usin a toothbrush 😂
aahh yes, decided to watch this while eating :X
I just got done cleaning a car full of mold, leather interior. Mine has a lot of ants still even after cleaning lol and it had bee nests on both front doors (interior) where the hinges are. Vehicle wasnt moved in like 2 years
Who put the mold in it?
Is this a flood car or just sitting out in the rain for 6 years with a hole in the sun roof
Cost???
