    I love how salty Garak is after he finds out about Bashir's enhancement. He could never say it aloud, but he's clearly affronted that Bashir was able to keep such a big secret from him. XD

    • @BackslideDan
      @BackslideDan Před 6 lety +62

      It could be he figured it out and felt special, and is more mad that the secret got out so sloppily. Partly from his life as a spy, partly for no longer having that dirt on Bashir, and partly because he likely had this great setup to reveal he knows, all ruined. Garak loved that Cardassian book that talked about trials that explain the guilt of criminals perfectly, he probably had some Danganronpa style full explanation thing ready to spring, and then in stumbles a couple old farts to poop al over it.

      I think it's kinda funny in a way. Bashir acted all altruistic and principled, while all along being more like Garak than he would let on.
      Perhaps Garak had discovered that secret and *that* is what initially drew him to the doctor.
      Though, I suspect Garak would really be more upset about not realizing when Bashir had been replaced by a Changeling for however long it'd been since they last used the older uniforms.

    One thing I've just noticed about this scene - this looks like its happening in one of the Defiant's corridors. Good detail to set the scene that the ship is on a war footing, with cabinets and trolleys in the corridors because there's no extra space for it all perhaps haha - makes the ship look messy after continual combat operations. Which is exactly what you'd expect I suppose.

    When this first aired I was obsessed with this scene to no extent as the idea of Bashir being able to calculate the chances of survival being at such a low level was amazing to me.
    So about 6 months after it I sat down with a calculator and a pencil and paper and worked out the exact formula that would work to hit a 32.7% chance of survival using only the information known in this episode. It was actually something like 32.7335325% of a chance but rounding down to that was fair.
