5th gen too, N64 and OG PlayStation were legendary for their time
@@ThePhysicalWay I was gonna say. Ocarina of time mario 64. and playstation had the golden age of jrpgs during that gen. Great era. And we cant forget the sadly unsupported dream cast had some gems
Golden era is the early-mid 80's for sure. The huge Arcade boom and amazing home systems like the ZX81, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Atari 800, BBC, Oric, Amstrad, Texas Ti994a, Dragon 32 and so many more!
Gaming had a steady positive progress until the sixth gen. The seventh had a lot of gems but got Call of Duty-fied, and I don't mean that as a compliment After that we truly get into the modern era of triple-A nonsense with which I haven't bothered too much. Today I'm mostly retro and remasters and that's that.
This generation never started IMHO. The games are just uprated PS4 games on the PS5. Only Astrobot supports the DualSense to any proper extent and PSVR2 has been left to die on the vine!
I've been gaming since the 80's and this is the worst gen of gaming ever and nothing comes close unless you count the crash but other than that it's easily the worst. I know it's not over but I don't think it will get much better I hate to say. There's just to much greed and laziness innovation is pretty much dead for now it's all about playing it safe and monetizing every game to death. Gaming got to big and corporate it will never be as good like it was in the old days unfortunately.
I agree with you 100%. The last great generation of gaming was the 7th, in my opinion. The modern consoles are beautiful and powerful machines, which makes the shallow selection of quality triple A games so aggravating.
And pay to play multiplayer is just stupid
that's why Nintendo is outselling the ps5 and the Xbox. Nintendo is killing it with there exclusive.
It took them years between Zelda games and years between 2d Mario games and they haven't had a mainline 3d Mario game since Odyssey. Not really any different than the other 2 platforms except the switch can't ran the big 3rd party games and when it can not really well
@@shoopypit4884 when it comes to the first party games, the Nintendo switch destroy the Xbox and the PlayStation, animal crossing Pokémon, smash Brothers these franchises sell more Sony games. Also when it comes to genre of games Sony does lack. When i play a ps5 exclusive is like playing an action adventure game. While Nintendo exclusive has platformer, RPG, JRPG, Shooter, strategy, adventure, Metrovania,

Sure is the worst gen. Ive since gone and started collecting Everdrives and modded consoles for all the retro systems so i can have the full libraries on real hardware preserved and uncensored. Screw modern gaming.
I've been enjoying Gamepass this generation and my back catalog of PS games. To be honest, I've enjoyed this generation a lot, but yeah. Exclusives have been scarce.
The last two exclusives I was looking forward to was horizon forbidden West and new God of war. And well they were also released on PS4. A lot of time has passed since then and still I have no reason/selling point to buy ps5
I find it crazy how just because great games aren’t exclusive people find the generation disappointing. I feel like I’m constantly playing a game. The landscape has changed I feel like I’m always trying something new whether that be indie and we get a few good AAA titles through out the year. A lot of people just don’t enjoy playing videos games anymore and think it’s the entire industry.

As someone who has played a ton of Skyrim I would recommend later editions cause base game Skyrim is unstable and a crap ton of bugs.
PS3 port is absolute garbage I know. I just platinum it. However the 360 port is good and if vanilla version it can be fun with the exploits they patched out. I do agree tho ideally Skyrim special edition on 8th Gen is the best way/start. 360 is an option.... PS3 HELL NO
This current gen will be great for indies.
Even in the game engine space previously under the raidar engines like Love2D, GDevelop and Godot finally proving they are worth investing time to learn with very profitable titles such as Balatro. The Unity and Unreal monopoly are ending.
Next year is gonna be amazing for the indie scene
I am excited to see the indy game scene step up, they do some really good stuff when the chips are down.

Steller Blade just came out and it's exclusive for PS5. Citic score is good and fans are enjoying it.
This generation is barely delivering the promises of the last generation which was also underwhelming. Add higher prices, day one patches, dlc, battle passes, censorship, forced politics in games that require online connection to play the story mode. Glad I still have my ps2/gamecube/dreamcast games, revisiting them have Ben fun and free.
I sold my Xbox Series X in mid 2023 and still don’t regret it. I too like to play games as they are intended. I’ve been enjoying my Nintendo 64 and PlayStation 2 whenever I feel like gaming with most of my focus on college work. Simply. The games are cheap, I can actually own them, the games are high quality and there’s no day 1 update bulshit. It’s what gaming was intended to be. A good time.
This is just my opinion but I’m not satisfied with the current state of gaming and I believe there will probably be a second crash. Companies release games half baked, crammed with micro transactions and we don’t even own them anymore.
This generation has been a huge disappointment for sure, a real let down.
What I don't understand is why you would want to play any game how it was originally intended if there is a better version of it? Don't people want better?

Been having fun with the ps3. Currently playing ni no kuni and man the reviews are true..... Slow start but it grabs you. My backlog is long and crazy im sitting down and focusing on that. New stuff..... Ill wait later down the road to see if theres a reason to buy 9th gen
It’s great that you kept all of your older games. There’s probably 3 games that I play on the ps5 at the moment and I’m getting tired af of them. I still have a ps2 and 3 that I may play pretty soon. Also had a Sega genesis that still worked and game cube before someone threw away by mistake. That was a real stinger. But the state of gaming now feels like we’re on the titanic. It may take someone like Elon Musk to save gaming.
its at this point where I would prefer to have handheld if everything is going take 4-6 year to release. Playstations is in a bad state but Xbox has zero identity outside its controller.

Not being able to look past Sony pressing an Indy dev to release an unfinished game and then having trust issues with the devs after they spend a literal decade making it what you wanted is something you should bring up in therapy. Like it's a video game not your mom.
9th gen doesn't exist. The PS5 is just a more powerful PS4.

What ever you do DO NOT PLAY SKYRIM on ps3. That port is garbage. I just Platinum it on the ps3 and it gave me a migraine. If anything the 360 works great (Bethesda standard). Ps4 an option too but trust me stay away from the PS3 port

Current gen is threadbare because games take forever to make now unlike ps2 era when we were dealing with polygon graphics. Cmon dude do better and broaden your talking points and subject matter.

I have an Xbox X just a casual gamer, on game pass or looking in the store there is literally nothing I want to play it’s all slop! It’s 2024…I was expecting the oasis from the film ready player one by now.
