- It may seem odd that the current state of media would not be profitable to massive corporations, must most take a loss to operate streaming services, here’s why

I think its absolutely insane that studios just destroyed their own profit margins for no reason.
And I get the appeal of streaming but the fact that they all looked at the other services that did not make profits and were like "I'm sure that's going to work for us" is honestly a bit funny
The one thing that I do find really sad about this is the fact that they refuse to give their exclusives physical releases. There are some Netflix shows specifically that I would love to own and me purchasing them wouldn't be a reason to unsubscribe from Netflix, it would just be extra profit for them.
Hey, if cable can make a comeback in the modern age of streaming services, then never say never when it comes to Blu-rays ramping up in sales again. They are proving the history can and will repeat itself.
I feel a change happening. Studios are confused. They release things on cinema and streaming at the same time, streaming and physical at the same days, the concept of dumping whole series at once is getting tiring for people.
Just noticed you stood at the center of the corner and the blu ray lines frame you in the center like extending out, nice.
If it’s not profitable it’s not really our problem as consumers. Netflix just dropped Godzilla minus one and it’s a fantastic movie that probably cost about 30 dollars in 4k . Pretty sure that Netflix does make a profit but the others like Disney plus and Paramount plus do indeed operate at a loss . They are however subsidised by other sections of their company.
Netflix was a good thing. The stats showed that, but the over saturation of services has ruined it for everybody.
We should bundle all of these streaming services together and call them cable.
Off-topic of the video, but relatable to the overall topic content.
I got an ASUS Blu-ray drive for my PC back in the day, only for PC Gaming to never move on to BD and fully dig-in to digital only (should've been obvious TBH).
However, at least I got some use out of it by ripping my old PS3 games for emulation after the console croaked on me.
It also doubles for playing PS2 discs directly for PCSX2.
When it comes to playing Blu-ray movies on PC (especially 4K), it's a hot mess with the DRM protections. Unfortunately, easier to just use a dedicated Blu-ray player.
Before streaming if they were putting unskippable ads in DVDs and blu-rays.
I’ve had a couple of disc rot titles, now I’m debating about putting them on a hard drive.
How do you transfer a Blu-ray into a hard drive?

@@bigmeany1184 you "rip" it. We have have been doing so for years.
@@bigmeany1184 You'll want to research Blu-ray drives for reading data off of Blu-ray discs. Depending on if you're just ripping regular 1080p BD or 4K BD will determine the type of Blu-ray Drive you'll want to get.
