Best video . I did my Eahora X7 by watching this . Got the bars and head-stem from a BMX site during a sale and the quill stem + carbon-fibre spacers from AmazonUK. Worked out a lot cheaper to do than i thought it would.
I'm not a fan of those T-bars that seem to come with most 20" fatbikes and this is an excellent low-cost way to change up your E-bike.

I ordered two stems (one as part of the BMX kit) for two separate bikes. One stem was fine and installed/functions without issue, but the other stem was defective - it can not be opened, even with considerable force, enabling it to be installed. After many many emails back and forth with the company, and having even sent a video demonstrating that even with all my force I could not open the stem (yes, I know how to open them, I installed one already remember), they eventually, after many delays and follow-up confirmed it was defective and confirmed they would send return mailing label. I have now been waiting for days, with absolutely no response from them after, again, many emails, to receive the return shipping label. I am now initiating a charge dispute through my credit card company.
Just be aware if planning to place an order. As I said, the product is very cool, their treatment of customers if product has a defect, at least based on my experience, is terrible. Buyer be aware.

Hands down the best handlebar mod tutorial out there for this bike...thank you! I have an aftermarket handlebar that is a consistent 7/8” all across the stem area so it doesn’t have the thicker 1” stem attachment spot in the middle. The XP has a stem to handlebar bracket that appears to require a minimum 1” handlebar width to tighten down properly. Should I just buy a shim that’s converts the 7/8” handlebar to 1” ?

I just got my Lectric XP 2.0 up and running this week and really want to change the handlebar situation. I find the stock steering to be quite jerkey and want to replace it with something with a more swept back, relaxed and upright position. Thanks again for this great video. Awesome video! New Lectric XP owner here. Sorry, for the dumb question but what size is the stem? 25.4 mm? I also see you have some sort of thin foam or between the handle bars and stem. Does that come with the stem or is that separate? Can the handle be raise higher or lower? What do you need for that? Thanks.

    • @sed6
      @sed6  Před 3 lety +1

Hiya, 25.4mm is correct for the stem size. That foam you see is actually holding on my digital display to my handlebars it's not holding the handlebars to the stem although it kind of looks that way.

Did you consider installing dirt bike handlebars? If so, why did you go with BMX bars over dirt bike bars? It sort of looks like all the BMX bars do is replace the long stock stem ending up with about the same thing but with less space on the bar to mount accessories. Great video btw....just got my XP and trying to figure out what upgrades I should do. The fender vibration or whatever it is that vibrates at higher speeds is about the only annoyance I'm noticing so far...and also the lag in throttle response...not sure why there is like a one second delay before the motor responds to the throttle movement...You automatically get used to it but I would rather have an instant response.

But now it's not a foldable bike. Because the folding mechanism is not going to work for the handlebars.
The other issue is what's great about these electric e-bikes is that they're not BMX jumping type crazy bikes. They are stand up type bikes So a comfortable ride. I would not use them like a BMX bike I don't think they could handle it and they're way too heavy.. So I don't see the point of converting in the first place but..
When you convert to BMX handlebars for you to get the proper seat adjustment for your legs if you're a tall person say about 6 ft now you're really bending over because you can't really raise the height of those BMX handlebars.
    Very uncomfortable for long rides.
So basically you're taking a nice upride bike kind of a mountain bike a little bit That's very heavy that you really can't use for BMX biking And now you're making it uncomfortable and you can't fold it down the right way when you store it in a car.
It just doesn't make any sense.
I could see changing the handlebars on a folding bike to be 30 in wide from the 24 in wide of the electric XP for more comfortable controlling ride when steering.
But again I just don't get it. Other than for the aesthetics.. well or unless you're a little kid And you want the BMX bike feel can you not that big of a person.

@@sed6 yeah still it just doesn't look right to me on these bikes I guess it's a kid thing where you used to a BMX bike as a kid now you want to put those handlebars on your grown up bike.
It's kind of like putting a cat's head on a tiger body. Or vice versa It looks weird.
And if I'm correct if you're a tall person like me maybe 6 ft and over I put my handlebars on my G-Force T42 bike which I absolutely love.. putting the handlebars up all the way I like to sit upright and be relaxed these bikes will never perform like a BMX bike so I don't see the point of having handlebars making it uncomfortable for long distance that are too low.
But I thought those handlebars did not fold down like the original ones. If you mean fold down meaning you have to loosen the armor and screws it's not going to fold down as compact as the original..
I don't think I saw you fold them down Maybe I wasn't watching?
