Oh my gosh that animal crossing animation đ spot on!
Loved second hand shopping with my mom as a kid. She really gave a me a love of old things and antiques
đ„°đ„°
WHIMSI-GOTH?! I never knew there was a word for it and now I am beyond pleased to know your mother and I share this attribute hahaha. -- its totally okay to "splurge" sometimes on a vintage top! Its genuine vintage, you'll love it, you're giving a secondhand piece new life, and you're still spending way way less than you would be in the long run spending 22 dollars on a top from a fast fashion place that dies the first time you wash it, ya know? lol I really enjoyed all the pieces you got and the general vibe of this haul
Oh yess! Whimsigoth is a relatively new term or at least I only heard about it recently. I LOVE it altho I canât say Iâm that aesthetic. Itâs like the perfect blend of boho/natural with eclectic romantic vintage with a dash of celestial crystal collector. Lots of jewel tones and textures. Itâs not 100% my mom but she definitely has aspects of it in her style. Itâs a cool style to look up on Pinterest to get inspiration.
And youâre so right. I was drawn to that top and had an immediate vision so I definitely want to make it work. It was $22 I because because itâs an old a French designer as well so it has history.
Omg yes I relate I used to hate thrifting when I was with a kid. I would only get dollar books but now i tell my parents let's go thrifting and I enjoy going with my parents their style is very vintage and my mom collect vintage teapots.
Lol Same! I find myself looking at old photos of my mom in the 90âs and Iâm like âšiconâš đ like she looks so cute I wish I had more of her clothes from back then. I did manage to get my hands on a few pieces. Not to mention I used to tease my mom for using lace doilies on the furniture and now guess whose buying vintage lace doilies?? đđ
We had to thrift out of necessity too in the early 2000s. I also used to hate it, but it helped me realize that fashion doesn't have to only be mainstream stuff. And now I love thrifting!
Yup! It encourages one to be creative & have unique style! đđŒ
Yayyyy more hauls đ„°
Haha I just filmed a lazy vlog today while doing photography and getting ready for my Whatnot show and of course I hauled some stuff as well because I had to pop into the thrift on Saturday đ
OMG. We had those soup mug bowls!
I feel like every time I go thrifting I see one! This was the first time I saw a whole set in a box! đ±
I hear you about the childhood thrifting. We got all our clothing from church thrift stores when I was little (the 80's) and the clothing in thrift stores was far from stylish!!!
I avoided thrifting for years because of the memories but got back into thrifting hard about 10 years ago and no I basically only thrift đ
Thrifting in the 80s/90s was rough lol. Although I bet the stuff I found ugly back then Iâd probably like đ
Haha! My in-laws have the entire set of those soup soupcups đ
I swear I see one every time I thrift đ
I love the top youâre wearing in this vid, suits you so well. That Anne of green gables book is beautiful.
Thank you! đ„°
In the first few shots (4:12) there was the yellow salt & pepper shakers I have been on the hunt for FOREVER!!!!
Omg really!? I hope you find them!
I love your thrift hauls (and all your content actually) ! Also the top you're wearing in the video is stunning and I want one.
Thanks! The top is Wild Fable brand, I thrifted it recently!
I enjoy your thrift hauls and look forward to your thrift flips.
Thank you! â€ïž
Your my inspiration to go thrifting!!!!
Yes! Thrifting in the 90s was really rough, I think because fast fashion wasnât as big (at least in rural areas like where I grew up) so people wore their clothes until they were really worn out
That is so true! And back then vintage wasnât as trendy so wearing vintage basically just meant you were wearing old fashioned clothes which was seen as frumpy (plus we didnât have as much access to inspiration to style things). Now wearing old fashioned is retro & cool đ
Thrift flip pleeaaasseee!!!!
Soooon! đ Iâm just so intimidated by sewing but Iâm gonna rip the bandaid off soon enough haha.
Wow! Portmeirion plates for $2 thatâs a steal! The napkin caddy i would use for a toast caddy for a fancy British breakfast vibe!
I should have gotten those, they were a good price. I just donât have room for more dishes đ my kitchen is smol and no dining room. Which is why I want to move to a big Victorian manor some day. đ
Not me looking at the napkin caddy and immediately thinking âah yes, a toast rackâ đ
Also hell yeah fall content!! Iâm officially on the Halloween countdown - only 89 days!
Hahaha toast rack đđ love how your brain works.
Yeah Iâm counting down. I hate the heat of summer and I just want cool breezy days already!!
The anne of green gables looks like it's from barnes and noble. They have a lot of classic books in the kids section leather bound for $15
Couple things to note: yes I did forget to get detailed shots of some of the items since my phone camera didnât focus on them. I will put pictures up in my Ig story and add them to my thrift highlight.
Also forgot to add the text with the waist measurement of the plaid skirt. It is 32-34â with hip measurement of 44â. It will be up for auction TONIGHT on the Whatnot app.

I love your outfit. Where are the top and skirt from? You always have amazing thrift hauls. My family thrifted for the same reason, my mom, sister, and I still thrift. My brother started shopping at the mall so he'd fit in better when he went to Middle school and High school. I always loved thrifting because I felt like I could express my style better. There was a time when I wished I could shop at the mall, but the prices were always just too much, we did shop mall clearance though. We usually found good deals, but then I was always a season or two "out of style". You got some amazing pieces. I loved this haul. I am so glad you and your mom had a nice time.
Thank you! The top was thrifted but the brand is Wild Fable. The skirt was from my Romwe fairy grunge review video and though itâs fast fashion itâs one of my fav skirts!! I wear it all the time đ„°
I very much relate to your experience. For a brief moment in high school I had a job and I bought mall clothes to be cool. Shortly after that I got more into thrifting and havenât looked back!!
@@DressMeUpScotty thank you so much. You always have the cutest style.
I love how so many people have a similar experience when it comes to thrifting.
Nerdfighter!
Hi! New subscriber â€ïž Iâve been wanting to go thrift in Sacramento recently! If you wouldnât mind sharing , What are some of your fav thrift stores ? Iâve only been to a goodwill there so far đ
So for clothes some of my favorite thrift stores are:
Fabulous Finds on Fulton by Assistance League (on Fulton ave) Iâve also found good home decor here too.
There is a Cancer Society not too far away. I havenât been there a lot but their stuff is nice!! Itâs on Marconi.
On Arden there is a thrift store called Weave Works Recycled Fashion. They have really nice clothes! They also have another location downtown called True on K st. Always a great selection of vintage. Iâve found my best vintage pieces there!
The first three I mentioned are all in the same area and can be visited in the same day but definitely check their hours. Some donât open on certain days. But thereâs also a goodwill on Alta Arden nearby that is hit or miss but Iâve found some good stuff there. When I go to the other places I make sure I check that goodwill out as part of my ârouteâ.
There is another thrift store further down Arden closer to Watt ave near Joann fabrics(across the street) but itâs kind of messy and the prices are all over the place. If you end up taking Arden all the way down to Watt ave and turn left and keep going there is another Goodwill on the right between El Camino and Marconi. It is also hit or miss but Iâve also had good finds there as well. They have a big book and movie section in another room which is nice. Their home section SUCKS and is always a total mess. But Iâve bought a lot of books there. They took over the spot where Tower Records used to be which had a used book section so Iâm guessing that is why they have such great book shelving.
Sorry if that was long đđ but hopefully itâs helpful. Aside from True, all the stores mentioned are all within a similar area.
My mom has a shirt that looks almost identical but it's gold and black. I want to plunder through her closet to see if I can find it now that I can fit in her clothes đ€
Yess plunder!!
I'm looking for thrift flip videos... where did you put them?
TIP: every 30 days items get put in 50% off section if they haven't sold at Discovery and if you also have the 25%off certificate you can then get 75% off basically. Also your mom and I would totally get along style wise!! Also I grew up in 70s/80s and had to wear thrift ....so get what you're sayingđđđ
Thank you! I definitely went to check it out more often. I always forget about it!
And yeah I think my mom and you would get along very well
@@DressMeUpScotty The thrift store hop is coming up this month ...you going? Always love hearing about kindred spirits. You definitely should share your mom's style! I would love to see the blend you were talking about!!
Love, love, LOVE the kitty pillow!!
What did your mom get?
I donât remember besides the top I mentioned đ Iâll ask her to send me a picture of it and Iâll pop it into my community tab or my IG stories. Itâs really cute! Very whimsical.
Obligatory algorithm boosting comment! It's many months since you posted this but thrift flips please!
Coming soooon! I swear đ haha I know I keep saying soon lol
