Growing up in the 70s, I was in awe of the Daimajin movies. I still find their FX shots to be some of the most effective of that time where you feel this giant lumbering statue god is truly towering over these fleeing samurai. Been trying to curb my physical media spending this year but some of these recent limited box sets are breaking me down. I picked this one up and will cherish the childhood love I had for these films which I still remember seeing on Creature Features and revival screenings.

Mine should be coming in this week. I'm looking forward to it. It looks amazing. I have never seen them myself. The Gamera box set was incredible and even though this is a lot smaller it looks just as incredible. I'm looking forward to doing and unboxing/review on my channel for it as well.
Fun fact: Jonathan Clements also does a lot of work involving anime as well. He's written articles on anime as well as done the odd commentary. Case in point: My dvd copy of Vampire Hunter D has one such commentary. Also, he was recently involved with a documentary by alltheanime for their blu-ray release of Cyber City Oedo 808 which can be watched on their youtube channel.

Big samurai cinema fan never watched any kaiju that I can remember (yes even Godzilla). Just pre ordered after seeing your video and watching the arrow trailer so I guess we will find out…
@@rkitchen69 Really good yeh. Agree they are more period pieces than Kaiju movies. They have similar structures but at 90 mins each and only three of them felt just right and don’t outstay their welcome. The box set really is one of the best looking on my shelf too.
