The debt ceiling was instituted in 1917. So for over a hundred years no one has ever seen it as a violation of the 14th amendment. And there is no way in hell the current majority right-wing Supreme Court will see it that way. Any attempt to use the 14th amendment to avoid defaulting on the nation's debt will be struck down by the highest court in the land. Such is the lot of this pitiable nation.

Anyone, female or male, who would choose to run against Sen. Sanders, will have to present their credentials--including diverse experience, tenacity and courage--to be compared to his. Sanders, who holds a degree in economics from the prestigious University of Chicago, has amassed a serious, admirable public service record over decades. First as the re-elected mayor of Vermont's largest city (which received national attention during his tenure), then re-elected as his state's lone US representative and now its strong, re-elected senior US senator. A still-in-circulation August 1963 Chicago newspaper photo showed a policeman "helping" Bernie to the ground for marching against segregation. It introduced Bernie to me and to so many others across our nation. The years since have not dimmed the man's commitment to All of Us, while Vermont support for him continues strong and nation-wide recognition and support grows. Honored with national service awards from the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (different years). Recipient of two honorary degrees. Many Etc. Nobody's perfect, and Sanders has never claimed to be. But, he earned his diverse public service posts strongly, and our nation is far better for his intellect, stamina, and wide-ranging, well-researched work for All of Us. I know many of us--of all ages- hope it is for many years to come.

Sad to think that after only 247 years we're back to having "taxation without representation" of the majority of people. However...
If the rich just sit there with all that money? And sucking up more?

The way they excuse it (that there would be a net increase in the number of people receiving SNAP, due to a larger group becoming eligible) is very telling; the intended audience is clearly not anyone who can empathize with those 750,000 people, rather those who see them as chips that can be traded.

Great points and it all adds up to the following: to keeping people suppressed to point they are holding the weaker hostage with fixed lower incomes, subject to more pain, more financial hardships that cause more stress, anxiety that leads to more disease, homelessness and inability to be educated. It also builds a coalition of poverty. Poverty is a choice. It's just a form of continued slavery on majority of population, and overpowering the weaker community to maintain the status of the wealthy. Our Constitution declares EQUALITY, but how is it painful for wealthy to pay their taxes and how is it fair that low and middle class bear all the burden to feel the pain... Equality? There isn't equality in the pain and suffering. To remedy inequality, taxes should be on a slide scale to point wealthy feel the burn just as much as the rest of society bearing the burden. Instead their money is used to lobby to keep things as they are to protect the powerful and to maintain slavery and a sick economy. Then society has to resort to guns to manage their anger. A whole other issue that tears society and keeps them in a vicious cycle of negative impacts.

It is crazy that he's older than all of the most moronic people in politics. As he gets older, it's almost like he gets sharper. He doesn't even look a day older than the days of his 2016 campaign. Compare the things he talks about to Bidens standoffishness, and the things Trump and DeSantis are focused on. None of them would ever talk about working Americans for even the three minutes and sixteen seconds that Bernie has here.

Because that fair share that they are not paying goes directly into the politicians pocket in the form of political contributions.
