Nichole Johnson uses a pair of tweezers to do the bottom lashes with mascara, just pinch your mascara with the tweezers then pinch your lashes it goes on really nice. For those who don't shake. I liked your eyes with the first application of mascara, before the wet one.
One more thing, you actually look great without mascara ❤❤

Hi Nanny. One lady I follow on CZcams is a professional makeup artist and she found that mascara on her lower eyelashes did not look as nice as when she was younger. She said it looked too harsh with her silver hair. So she started using a thin dark brown pencil to line the outer half of her lower lid, beneath her eyelashes, and then smudging it a bit. She finds that it is a softer look and I think she was right. She does the mascara on her upper eyelashes only. 💕

I wish I could find an eyeliner that doesn’t smudge.

I admire you for being so cool at age 86! You prove that age really is just a number. So important for us oldies (I'm 77) to keep trying to do our best to feel good about our appearance. I love how easy it is to do your hair with "the twist"!💃Makes me wanna dance or somethin'!😉😃😍 I do the vertical "twist" by using a single appropriately-sized hair clip for an instant updo.

Hi Nanny, I'm still here! Thanks for all of your tips and ideas. : ) I've found that if I stick to the wet n' wild brand or the LA colors one, those work pretty well in makeup. Dollar Tree does have a turquoise colored tube of mascara by one of those two brands that is not waterproof and works pretty well for every day! : )

I put mascara on one eye and then use a tissue underneath the eyelashes an open and close the eye and some will go on the tissue and then use the other eye and tissue. You really do not need mascara on the bottom lashes, they say use a light plumb or something of another color and do right under the bottoms lashes and it is not harsh like the mascara on the bottom one. You should try it and you will see. Love to see you. You have beautiful skin. I am 81 and mine is terrible and wrinkled. You look amazing.
Since my hair has become very light as your is , I changed to brown mascara. The look is softer. Also applying mascara only to the outer 1/3 of my bottom lashes gives a more open appearance 🤗

Hi Nanny love your hair if up or down ,I’m guessing the up do cooler in the hot weather your so lucky with the clothes wish some one with fabulous clothes dropped them off for me your wow it would be great , the minuet I do my nails I go messing in my garden and within the time I’m in the garden the nails just been a waste of time , I’m not to good with the make but keep trying some times not bad but sometimes I look awful and wish never did it , you do a great job with the make up .

Hi from Annie you look gorgeous with or without makeup. A natural beauty. It is nice to see you do your self up so well it does inspire me to do so as well, as I mostly wear no make up just a bit of powder blush and lip gloss with a dash of lipstick. Never liked the taste of lipsticks. Your nails look great always too, I will try the trick with the cheek makeup. Moosey is so lucky to have you. I know you being there does brighten up his day.

Hi Nanny, I really do prefer your up do, and I think it looks so sophisticated and elegant, I wear my hair up too as it’s very fine and thinning like yours, I have to do a lot of back combing and I also use a large comb and transparent side combs and it works a treat. I’m 82 years old and I think it is the best style for me in my later years, I had had short hair in my life before but I must say I prefer it longer as I find I can do more styles etc. I also love your make up, and I must say I can knock off a couple of years by being clever with my cheekbones and subtle up and a lowlighter. Good morning Nanny!🤗 I to have had a time finding mascara that doesn't smear and easy to get off. I have a problem with weeping tear ducts. So I tried all the water prof products. They pull out what few lashes when trying to clean. So one day in the Dollar Tree I saw the LA Colors. I love it! It covers great,doesn't smear, and cleans off completely with my makeup cleanser.

Hello Nanny, I love your videos because you’re so upbeat, funny and beautiful. I’m also 85 going on 86 and love to wear makeup and stylish clothes. You always mention your frustration with your mascara here is a suggestion what I do. First, I always plot the mascara with a tissue before applying it which prevents that clumping and heavy look, second I don’t use it under my eye instead I use a soft pencil to contour a little. Of course at our age we need do go very lightly.

Hey Nanny. Maybe don’t open your eyes very wide until mascara dries a little or completely. I know it’s hard, I get stripes too. Also let each layer dry before next one. And kinda take brush out and wipe some mascara off as pull out. It’s always too much on tube. I use a separate brush every time use my mascara….i buy a little tub on Amazon, a 100.
You are so pretty. Your face is so smooth. I think we “older girls” still have smooth clear skin because we always took care of our skin since 20something or teen years
I remember in my 20s I used to do my bottom eye with a pencil and we drew tiny little “lashes” because mine were not visible and did not want to use mascara. 🤣

It is funny I have worn makeup since my early teens and I never used mascara…now I have been wearing it and I just think it is a pain in every possible way….by that I mean putting it on, having it look clumpy, messing up my lids , taking it off

Hello again sweet Nanny! Loved the video.....I like your updoo more than your wearing your hair down....although both are very flattering....the updoo shows off your face and cheeks more. Your make-up tutorial was great! I like the 'elf' make up stick for highlighting. I don't use mascara on the lower lashes as it always seems to smudge....I just use a Dollar Tree liner pencil on the lower lids. Can't wait to see your rock painting video. It will be fun! Some time ago....in our area here in Pa. and Jersey....folks were painting rocks and sometimes leaving sweet little messages on them and placing them around town. A favorite I found was just a flat rock painted like a little lady bug and was so cute! They make cute little gifts or paper weights or just something to place in a garden. Hugs from a nana in HOT, HOT Pa.

I’m 77 and my trick for my eyelashes is definitely not waterproof … regular mascara I take a couple of wet Q-tips and have them ready to dab on those spots that get too thick around my bottom lashes and it also takes any lash marks off of my lid and face . If you have time, take the blow dryer and just blow those a little before you put your glasses on and that helps me. Have a great weekend Suzanne Perkins.😊

Nanny have you ever tried a tubing mascara? Elf has a new one but i use Milani from Walmart. It doesn't come off until you wash it off. Just warm water and cleanser takes it off. Love your videos! Ineed your energy!

I absolutely love ur Xmas rock creche creation. U are so creative and clever. Also like ur shorter hair when its down and when its up. I, on the other hand, at age 84, decided to buzz my hair ❤and have loved it over the past 3 years now. Funny thing is that my hair has turned darker instead of greyer, probably from the oils that I use on massaging my head now. Love wearing large chunky earrings with the buzzcut. I stopped wesring mascara years ago when my eyelashes got thinner. Instead I would line my eyes.....upper and lower......and that really did the trick for me. Later on I got permanent eye liner on my eyelids, as well as eyebrows and wish I had done it sooner. My eyebrows do need to be redone again. My suggestion
Is that u stop applying mascara to ur lower lashes and use an eyeliner instead.......u can try different things like smudging,etc. I love my make-up. I'll be 88 in August and no matter how poorly I feel, getting dressed and applying makeup every morning makes me look and feel better. My Mother used to say that "a little bit of powder and paint will make a lady what she ain't".

My 16 year old granddaughter just showed me that the so-called "tubing mascaras" (each lash is coated with a tiny tube when you brush it on) come off with just water on a cotton pad. You let the wet pad sit there for a few seconds and then wipe straight off. It's amazing considering how non smeary these mascaras are and how long they make your lashes. I'm using the one from Thrive called Lash Extensions and I've also used and liked the Maybelline Sky High.

Love the updo can’t do my eye brows
Oh Nanny!!! Thank you so much for the hair demonstration-I finally decided to cut several inches off my long hair and I am having a terrible time finding ways to put it up now without its previous length 🙁. My hair isn’t thinning; but believe it or not, thick hair is very heavy and really harder to style in an updo. There isn’t a spring-type clip or comb that I have been able find-and I have a large box full of both combs and spring clips-that comfortably holds my hair up for long periods of time. I really didn’t want to cut my hair, but the yellowing had become so bad it just didn’t look natural-so it was either cut it or color it and I don’t ever want to start coloring my hair ever again!!! I think a segmented updo will work really well for my hair!!! I don’t know why I haven’t thought of this before 🤷🏼♀️. I have never liked fringed edges for my hair, but I think I am going to have to learn to like them to make an updo really work for my hair!!! The makeup technique for the chisel cheeks looks so beautiful on you!!! Thanks for sharing that technique as well!!! I can hardly wait to see the newly painted rock additions to your rock nativity!!! I am so eager to start looking for some proper rocks and try my own hand at doing some rock painting!!! Sending love and big hugs to you and Moosie!!! 💝😍💝

I hate the wet mascara to it makes the biggest mess ever. I like the older mascara that we bought in the late 70s early 80s it was perfect not to wet or to dry. Hi, Nanny! We have a lot in common. I lived most of my life in Pompton Plains, NJ. I almost went to Montclair State in 1967 but went to Paterson State to become a teacher. The Erie - Lackawanah train went right through my town & my father took it to work. My mother took me on the bus to Montclair to buy school clothes in Sept. I loved it!

I just use a pencil brush and a dark mascara for my lower lashes. Also, I know you like the big fluffy mascara brushes, but as I age, I find a thinner brushes doesn’t hit my hooded lids as much. Also, try a tubing macará, like new ELF one, it comes off with warm water.

Hi Nanny. I am 80 and have difficulty with mascara on my lower lids due to arthritic hands. I solved the problem by using a pencil on the lower lid and I smudged it. I also use Clinique makeup and have done so for over 40 years because I have sensitive dry skin. It is worth the extra money
Adding to my comment, Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm will take off water a proof mascara. It's a great product. I the just use a face washer and walm water to clean my skin.

I love your up sweep hair do. I need to try it. I really liked your black or blue striped blouse. You looked so lovely. I think the orange Mascara stood out the most. I was going to mention wetting a Q-tip and blotting it. But you mentioned it. I always blot the end of the mascara wand to get off the blob of mascara there. I like the striped blouse on you. I think it's very chic looking. Classy too. The dark stripe appears to be a blackish blue. Like a sailor blue. Or midnight blue. Very nice and crisp. I love the clothes Dubby drops off too. She could be a professional shopper. She has a good eye for design. I don't like to wear waterproof mascara either. I want to be able to wash it off with soap and water at the end of the day. Love the updo for summer. It can get so hot when your hair is down. Feels good to twist it up on top of my head. I did updo at the lake already this week. Too hot. Anyway, I'm looking forward to see what you do with the rocks Nanny. I think this would be a fun summer activity for family, friends, kids.
