I feel like even now it’s not mentioned enough how much of failures the adults in this show were. All the manipulative language in talking to Shinji alone is enough to see that leaving saving the world to a group of kids is ridiculous

What they did the Aska during the original series was extremely brutal, lance through the ear, split of her risk and having her organs disemboweled, pain said to be immeasurable smh
Mehhhh I agree with the theory that it’s more of an alternative ending, the film itself was in essence, a response to fan opinion regarding the original tv ending, and is more of a middle finger to people who threatened Anno and Gainax as a whole
This is a masterpiece. The articulation. The vocabulary. The metaphors. The visuals. This explanation has just as much passion as NGE itself. What a project. The focus and renewed concentration day in and day out to first capture the entire 26 episodes and movie, moreover leaving out some information in order to add it in later for coherence. Then injecting all with your understanding of events that just provide so much information that I as a 22 year old just couldn't yet comprehend for myself. And rounding it all off with your own backstory and love for the show... man talk about perfection. This is it my guy. A standing ovation from me. Absolutely brilliant. This was the only explanation where I actually said to myself “oh , that’s what that was…” over and over. Saw Eva for the first time during 2020 and went “hmmm….” when it ended. But after time passed, so many scenes live, rent free, in my head
Eva is a franchise that gets better with time, it’s not something meant to be understood upon first watch, many things are vague and briefly mentioned. Then when one goes down the rabbit hole of lore to learn about lots of things, you can watch it again after and have a whole new experience, with a LOT of appreciation lol
I saw a lot of myself in Shinji when I was in middle school, but looking back at Evangelion now as an adult has really shown me how I've grown and changed past the scared, traumatized little kid I saw myself as in him
I first watched Eva in the early 2000s as a teen and always thought the Shinji's reactions are some of the most belivable I've ever seen. He's terrified, confused, angry and depressed; which are all reasonable reactions to everything that happens.

As a 16 year old that’s had a tough life to be frank, Evangelion spoke volumes to me that I’d never seem before in any other Anime/Manga (the only other one being close is ChainsawMan) Shinji is truly a perfect representation of the loneliness and sorrow depression can make you feel, I’ve locked myself away for a lot of my life and the way Shinji time and time again raises up makes his own decisions wants to be happy but then gets shot down back into sorrow is painstakingly relatable. This video is amazing what first was me searching for an explanation for the acid trip of a finale this show had became a journey of realizing this anime truly has so many layers that i’m still comprehending after finishing the video, truly a job well done. Edit 5 Months Later: When I came across this video It barely had any views now it’s at 200K and i’m so glad i’ve come back to rewatch this video countless times as obviously watching a whole anime is really time consuming, i’m gonna be 17 soon and my goal is to achieve that happiness everyone in this series really needs

Just a little clarification that may have lore implications: all of the angels in Evangelion are actually named after fallen angels from the book of Enoch, an apocryphal book that isn’t consider canon by most Christian churches. Idk if it’s relevant to the anime at all but it’s a cool bit of lore.
As a teenage, i completely related to Shinji. Quite, reserved, scared shitless of getting close to anyone for fear of being hurt by them. But now as an adult, I relate much more to Gendo. Ya know, before I let her get too close and hurt me. Also I must say that this video is really fantastic. A very concise retelling of the original series, along with explanations of the confusing parts of the show, and a deep insight into the effect this has personally had on you. That and an amazing editing job of using the ost to accompany the different topics and themes. It's been wonderful to listen to just as a random video that autoplayed after so many serial killer documentaries and anime music.
Based off interviews with the creator, the movie was never supposed to exist so that's why it ended so brutally. He was frustrated that fans were not satisfied with his ending so instead of doing fan service, he doubled down and refused to go against his original view. The 26 episodes were all NGE was supposed to be. The ending where everyone goes back to a sort of normal is the actual ending.
Gotta love how NGE is like the second biggest media property after SW in history, and all of its content after the original run is openly and obviously contmeptously audience hostile. And we keep lapping it up.

I finished the show in 2021, and while I kinda got it, I always come back to YT to see other people's explanations, particularly lore videos, and it's all so scattered that it's hard to point friends to any single video that touches on everything in a way that satisfies newcomers and fans alike, and you did it. That monologue at the end was beautiful. I've been alone for over 13 years now, no friends to speak of or romantic interests and I've come to terms with it. But it needs to be said that sometimes, no matter how much you try to scrabble up that wall blocking you off from society, sometimes it's impossible to work with the tools given to you, money and time. There's never enough money, and not enough time. Things don't move as fast as you need them to, causing collapse. But still, beautiful monologue.
I guess I'm just extremely bad at internalizing any of Evangelion's lessons, because it's been my favorite TV show for 15 years and I still struggle with all the same self-esteem/worth issues and problems with intimacy that Shinji finally gets over in the end. Where as Gendo very thinly veils his manipulation as affection, Misato does the opposite and manipulates him in the most horrible way, sexually. Yes, it's because she doesn't know any better, and she doesn't think she has any value to give other than her sexuality, but it's still disgusting.
It's crazy to think you watched this show for the first time in 5th grade. I watched it right before I turned 27 and right before the pandemic hit. I was in a super low place in life when I watched it, and I felt like I spiraled afterwards. It's such a heavy show that really made me take stock in my life. Lockdown and unemployment for most of 2020, I felt like Shinji during instrumentality. I just kept asking myself questions and floating in a void, unsure of what would come next, or if I'd even make it to see what would come next. I remember feeling ecstatic when Amazon finally released 3.0+1.0. Regardless of how some feel about the Rebuilds, the final movie moved me just as much as the original Evangelion did, but in a much different way. I realized that I had, indeed, made it through what I thought I wouldn't when I was spiraling in my depression void. I was on the other side. Things were different, but I was alive. 3.0+1.0 made me extremely emotional, and forever engrained this beautiful series into my heart. As dour and doom-filled as it may seem, it also embraces the human experience of living, being yourself, and loving yourself (and others) despite whatever harsh realities life may bring.

Evangelion is a study in the symbolic interactionist perspective in sociology: reality is created through us agreeing on what it is. Cooley's looking glass self is dependent on interaction with others and our self image is created through others reactions to us and our subjective perceptions of those interactions. But we still have coping mechanisms and agency within this. I'm going to start working on a lesson for class using this- thanks for laying things out like this- truly inspirational! This anime meant so much to me when i was in my early 20s but it means a lot more now. Even the reboot. I think your association between age of viewing and understanding is spot on. So, the part about the lancet of longinus and the ancestral race that created adam and Lilith is wrong. The lancet is not a device to control Lilith's offspring, it's purpose is to stop a posible landing of adam in the planet. This event would create new beings of the ancestral race.
@@JuzaVoicesthe actual story goes like this (though i think this is very superfluous info to the understanding of the series, since the focus should be on the characters and their psychological analysis): first ancestral race creates the seeds, for unknown reasons. maybe to spread life in the universe, maybe because they were dying. they make 2 kinds of seeds: life and knowledge, which can never be mixed so that any formed life doesnt overpower the FAR. adam lands first, and starts to spread angelic life from antarctica. clean landing. lilith comes next, with a turbolent landing in japan which creates the actual moon: first impact. her spear is destroyes during impact (or lost), so adam's activates instead. in this sense, humanity is usurping earth and stealing land from the angels. the event in the year 2000 was called "second impact" so that the public remained unaware of the true nature of humanity.

I rewatch it every couple of years and I find a new meaning in it that reflects my life an experiences as I grow and mature. I'm gonna be honest, I finished the original anime, the End of Evangelion movie, and ALL FOUR of the Rebuilds and I still didn't have a clue of what the fuck the original ending was supposed to be. Now, despite your best efforts, I still don't quite get the whole giant space Rei turning everyone to soup and how Shinji's decision affected it, but I now know and understand far more than before. I didn't even know there were 3 Reis! I just thought her head was fucked and thus she didn't remember anything, hence the injuries. Also, Misato best girl on the grounds of Asuka being like... 14? Rei looks about the same age, on top of the other issues you describe... so your choices are really "wait 4 years for asuka to grow the fuck up" which is... still really weird, OR realize that you are _not_ immune to 30 year old alcoholic cougars and get down with Misato. Of course, if you're willing to ignore the issues with Asuka being underage (maybe you'd be 14 too in this scenario?), she has seemingly no issues in being down bad for people twice her age. So, there's that. Plus, Misato's a damn good shot. What else could you possibly need?
Shinji is like the most important guy in the world(for public perception wise), yet, the organization can't find him a single girlfriend? That is the biggest cheapscape of cheapscapes.

Do they ever explain why only teenagers can pilot the EVAs? It might just be a subversion tactic to the mecha genre but it’s kind of important because most of the problems come from adults telling children what to do in the most torturous situations
Hey, I was born in 85 and watched the TV show ADV VHS to VHS starting in 1998, watched the movie in 2000 and the rebuilds as they came. I didn't get it either, even though on some level I did and it made me feel good. Love this video. This is wonderful. Thank you for making it.
Great video! I first watched the series in 2020, and have rewatched it once or twice every year since then. I never wanted to look up videos that "explain" the story, the deeper lore, because that really doesn't matter to me, but I appreciated your description of events and I never realized what was going on with Rei near the end, as well as Kaworu.

Funny to think how close off experience we had with this series, now also being 27 you helped me fill a lot of blank spaces of the story, i had no idea about the black and white moon ^^'. I noticed a Gunbuster reference in the battle between Sachiel and Eva 01, when Eva 01 trips and falls Sachiel walks over and picks it up by the head the same way Kashiwara picks up Noriko when she falls down in her buster machine.

I just recently finished watching Evangelion and holy shit what an anime it was. I feel like i went through a roller coaster of emotions, it was confusing, depressive and then again epic. Here i was thinking that "Edgerunners" got me sadge, but Evangelion took that and cranked it up to eleven. I fucking loved it and now i feel depressed... Just wonderful :]
Evangelion is incredible, but also strange, because to me, the fighting is not the focus of the show, but rather the context we need to understand the characters, and then it throws in so much lore that is extremely difficult to understand, but it still dosen't matter to the shoe. Truly the single most interesting thing I have ever seen direction wise.
The author's smarmy attitude being the main thing that saved the franchise and made is so popular is the funniest thing ever to me >Author makes a story with a barely comprehensible plot because he changed it halfway through due to a bought of depression >You literally cannot understand the story without a 10+ page explanation from a third party source >The original ending to the anime concludes on a confusing wet fart that makes you go: "I guess that was deep? What was that?" >The budget doesn't even hold up properly, literally using still illustrations made with paper and crayons near the end >Author somehow gets surprised that people were just confused and disappointed that none of the story or its characters had a meaningful (or even understandable) conclusion >It's to the point where the most famous clip of the series is from the English Voice actors going "WHAT THE FUCK?" openly about the ending and the plot as a whole >Author becomes openly hostile towards his audience for *being his audience and expecting answers* and indulging this OBJECTIVELY poorly executed plot >This, ironically, makes the entire story have a thematically poignant and introspective tone that makes us as the audience look at our escapism more critically >Story becomes a massive success as it tells us to basically "fuck off and not watch anime". >Author then makes more movies, contradicting this message while also still admonishing the audience for watching Eva truly is the Most Anime of All Time

Is it ok if I am unable to enjoy Evangelion because I suffer PTSD from being physically, mentally, and sexually abused by my high school peers? No matter how hard I tried to force myself, this anime makes me have a mental breakdown. Even thinking about hard enough makes me want to vomit. The fandom also cyberbullied me for the depression I felt during Lockdown and stalked me for four years just because I refused to watch it. I just want to know if it's ok to be unable to enjoy this due to deeply personal reasons, and that I don't need Eva to be happy.

You are the only person that can know if something is safe for you. I don’t think a messy esoteric anime is something you should harm yourself to watch. That’s a very strong reaction to a show that isn’t that important. The show is about trauma and the cycles of it. How it grabs a hold of you and can change and morph into something that won’t even resemble what it did before. It really comes down to parents and someone’s upbringing. Like shinji, it was only until he felt his mothers love (essentially in the womb) that he had begun to heal. And even with that it was a painful experience. So I can agree with the videos final assessment that it’s about finding purpose, but doing so takes risk, trusting people, being hurt by others, and being heal by them too. It was just written by a group of artists who were obviously pretentious about their ideas and went a little overboard to justify a lot of the abstract concepts. Be kind to yourself and give yourself some grace my friend. It can always get better.

I feel like I have a much better grasp on the lore and the more abstract aspects of the narrative after watching this. I personally love the original ending but I found EOE difficult to fully comprehend without a more extensive understanding of the NGE timeline. This explanation has helped me to better appreciate the End Of Evangelion as a successful reimagining of the series conclusion that doesn't detract from the original 26 episodes in the way that I felt it did before hearing your interpretation. great video, thank you for making it.
"Neon Genesis Evangelion"? That's an odd way of spelling "Space Runaway Ideon"! Okay, in all seriousness. Evangelion might be a traditional mecha (actually artificial human) anime franchise, but the way it deals with Shinji's plight actually has me interested in looking at it one of these days. It's literally a traditional show with a psychological edge that makes it one of the more memorable of the 1990s alongside Macross Plus and the Gundam outings of the time.

A slice of life Evangelion with Shinji having to chose between Rei and Kaworu while Asuka also secretly pines for him is in my top 10 anime requests. (Idea below) Make Kaworu a emotionally bored lovechild who flirts and kisses other females which (secretly) makes Shinji jealous, but since Shinji is new to these emotions or refuses to confront them, he becomes passive aggressive to Kaworu during their rare chats. Make Rei a chill friend who Shinji's heart slowly warms up to over time. Make Asuka be a Jealous b**** who eventually finds another love interest besides Shinji, maybe Toji has an unrelenting crush on Asuka but she continually berates and bullies him, but she can't help but fall for his sincere, stupid cheesiness. Eventually they become a couple but Toji learns not to take what Asuka says seriously and takes her hits and emotional berates with grace. The finale can be a prom. I already laid the ground work. Hopefully this gets seen someday ;_;

I feel like even now it’s not mentioned enough how much of failures the adults in this show were. All the manipulative language in talking to Shinji alone is enough to see that leaving saving the world to a group of kids is ridiculous

I grew up in a shitty home myself and all the awful ways they toy with Shinji's feelings and wants for their own ends made my goddamn skin crawl because they were so eerily familiar. This is a masterpiece. The articulation. The vocabulary. The metaphors. The visuals. This explanation has just as much passion as NGE itself. What a project. The focus and renewed concentration day in and day out to first capture the entire 26 episodes and movie, moreover leaving out some information in order to add it in later for coherence. Then injecting all with your understanding of events that just provide so much information that I as a 22 year old just couldn't yet comprehend for myself. And rounding it all off with your own backstory and love for the show... man talk about perfection. This is it my guy.

This was the only explanation where I actually said to myself “oh , that’s what that was…” over and over. Saw Eva for the first time during 2020 and went “hmmm….” when it ended. But after time passed, so many scenes live, rent free, in my head
Eva is a franchise that gets better with time, it’s not something meant to be understood upon first watch, many things are vague and briefly mentioned. Then when one goes down the rabbit hole of lore to learn about lots of things, you can watch it again after and have a whole new experience, with a LOT of appreciation lol

As a 16 year old that’s had a tough life to be frank, Evangelion spoke volumes to me that I’d never seem before in any other Anime/Manga (the only other one being close is ChainsawMan) Shinji is truly a perfect representation of the loneliness and sorrow depression can make you feel, I’ve locked myself away for a lot of my life and the way Shinji time and time again raises up makes his own decisions wants to be happy but then gets shot down back into sorrow is painstakingly relatable. This video is amazing what first was me searching for an explanation for the acid trip of a finale this show had became a journey of realizing this anime truly has so many layers that i’m still comprehending after finishing the video, truly a job well done.
Edit 5 Months Later: When I came across this video It barely had any views now it’s at 200K and i’m so glad i’ve come back to rewatch this video countless times as obviously watching a whole anime is really time consuming, i’m gonna be 17 soon and my goal is to achieve that happiness everyone in this series really needs

Just a little clarification that may have lore implications: all of the angels in Evangelion are actually named after fallen angels from the book of Enoch, an apocryphal book that isn’t consider canon by most Christian churches. Idk if it’s relevant to the anime at all but it’s a cool bit of lore.

As a teenage, i completely related to Shinji. Quite, reserved, scared shitless of getting close to anyone for fear of being hurt by them. But now as an adult, I relate much more to Gendo. Also I must say that this video is really fantastic. A very concise retelling of the original series, along with explanations of the confusing parts of the show, and a deep insight into the effect this has personally had on you. That and an amazing editing job of using the ost to accompany the different topics and themes. It's been wonderful to listen to just as a random video that autoplayed after so many serial killer documentaries and anime music.
Based off interviews with the creator, the movie was never supposed to exist so that's why it ended so brutally. He was frustrated that fans were not satisfied with his ending so instead of doing fan service, he doubled down and refused to go against his original view.
The 26 episodes were all NGE was supposed to be.

That monologue at the end was beautiful. I've been alone for over 13 years now, no friends to speak of or romantic interests and I've come to terms with it. But it needs to be said that sometimes, no matter how much you try to scrabble up that wall blocking you off from society, sometimes it's impossible to work with the tools given to you, money and time. There's never enough money, and not enough time. Things don't move as fast as you need them to, causing collapse.

I guess I'm just extremely bad at internalizing any of Evangelion's lessons, because it's been my favorite TV show for 15 years and I still struggle with all the same self-esteem/worth issues and problems with intimacy that Shinji finally gets over in the end. It's crazy to think you watched this show for the first time in 5th grade. I watched it right before I turned 27 and right before the pandemic hit. I was in a super low place in life when I watched it, and I felt like I spiraled afterwards. It's such a heavy show that really made me take stock in my life. Lockdown and unemployment for most of 2020, I felt like Shinji during instrumentality. I just kept asking myself questions and floating in a void, unsure of what would come next, or if I'd even make it to see what would come next.
I remember feeling ecstatic when Amazon finally released 3.0+1.0. Regardless of how some feel about the Rebuilds, the final movie moved me just as much as the original Evangelion did, but in a much different way.
I realized that I had, indeed, made it through what I thought I wouldn't when I was spiraling in my depression void. I was on the other side. Things were different, but I was alive. 3.0+1.0 made me extremely emotional, and forever engrained this beautiful series into my heart. As dour and doom-filled as it may seem, it also embraces the human experience of living, being yourself, and loving yourself (and others) despite whatever harsh realities life may bring.
This is hands down the best review of one of my favourite shows as i have only seen the metflix version im glad you pointed out a few things that were skipped or changed

Evangelion is a study in the symbolic interactionist perspective in sociology: reality is created through us agreeing on what it is. Cooley's looking glass self is dependent on interaction with others and our self image is created through others reactions to us and our subjective perceptions of those interactions. But we still have coping mechanisms and agency within this. I'm going to start working on a lesson for class using this- thanks for laying things out like this- truly inspirational!

So, the part about the lancet of longinus and the ancestral race that created adam and Lilith is wrong. The lancet is not a device to control Lilith's offspring, it's purpose is to stop a posible landing of adam in the planet. This event would create new beings of the ancestral race.

first ancestral race creates the seeds, for unknown reasons. maybe to spread life in the universe, maybe because they were dying. they make 2 kinds of seeds: life and knowledge, which can never be mixed so that any formed life doesnt overpower the FAR.
adam lands first, and starts to spread angelic life from antarctica. clean landing.
lilith comes next, with a turbolent landing in japan which creates the actual moon: first impact. her spear is destroyes during impact (or lost), so adam's activates instead. in this sense, humanity is usurping earth and stealing land from the angels.
the event in the year 2000 was called "second impact" so that the public remained unaware of the true nature of humanity.

Such a wonderful perspective I’ve seen this series numerous times, but the final closing messages that you provide are very welcoming, sincere, and all around supportive of this wonderful work that is Evangelion
I'm gonna be honest, I finished the original anime, the End of Evangelion movie, and ALL FOUR of the Rebuilds and I still didn't have a clue of what the fuck the original ending was supposed to be. Now, despite your best efforts, I still don't quite get the whole giant space Rei turning everyone to soup and how Shinji's decision affected it, but I now know and understand far more than before.
I didn't even know there were 3 Reis! I just thought her head was fucked and thus she didn't remember anything, hence the injuries.
Also, Misato best girl on the grounds of Asuka being like... 14? Rei looks about the same age, on top of the other issues you describe... so your choices are really "wait 4 years for asuka to grow the fuck up" which is... still really weird, OR realize that you are _not_ immune to 30 year old alcoholic cougars and get down with Misato. Of course, if you're willing to ignore the issues with Asuka being underage (maybe you'd be 14 too in this scenario?), she has seemingly no issues in being down bad for people twice her age. So, there's that.
Plus, Misato's a damn good shot. What else could you possibly need?

Very sincere and creative (imo) reconsideration on the whole of Evangelion. Usually, a lot of similar videos attempting at this fail in that theyre quite scattered.
Do they ever explain why only teenagers can pilot the EVAs? It might just be a subversion tactic to the mecha genre but it’s kind of important because most of the problems come from adults telling children what to do in the most torturous situations

Hey, I was born in 85 and watched the TV show ADV VHS to VHS starting in 1998, watched the movie in 2000 and the rebuilds as they came. I didn't get it either, even though on some level I did and it made me feel good. Love this video. This is wonderful. Thank you for making it.
Great video! I first watched the series in 2020, and have rewatched it once or twice every year since then. I never wanted to look up videos that "explain" the story, the deeper lore, because that really doesn't matter to me, but I appreciated your description of events and I never realized what was going on with Rei near the end, as well as Kaworu.

Evangelion is incredible, but also strange, because to me, the fighting is not the focus of the show, but rather the context we need to understand the characters, and then it throws in so much lore that is extremely difficult to understand, but it still dosen't matter to the shoe. Truly the single most interesting thing I have ever seen direction wise.
The author's smarmy attitude being the main thing that saved the franchise and made is so popular is the funniest thing ever to me

Is it ok if I am unable to enjoy Evangelion because I suffer PTSD from being physically, mentally, and sexually abused by my high school peers? No matter how hard I tried to force myself, this anime makes me have a mental breakdown. Even thinking about hard enough makes me want to vomit. The fandom also cyberbullied me for the depression I felt during Lockdown and stalked me for four years just because I refused to watch it. I just want to know if it's ok to be unable to enjoy this due to deeply personal reasons, and that I don't need Eva to be happy.

You are the only person that can know if something is safe for you.
I don’t think a messy esoteric anime is something you should harm yourself to watch. That’s a very strong reaction to a show that isn’t that important.
The show is about trauma and the cycles of it. How it grabs a hold of you and can change and morph into something that won’t even resemble what it did before.
It really comes down to parents and someone’s upbringing. Like shinji, it was only until he felt his mothers love (essentially in the womb) that he had begun to heal. And even with that it was a painful experience.
So I can agree with the videos final assessment that it’s about finding purpose, but doing so takes risk, trusting people, being hurt by others, and being heal by them too.
It was just written by a group of artists who were obviously pretentious about their ideas and went a little overboard to justify a lot of the abstract concepts.
Be kind to yourself and give yourself some grace my friend. It can always get better.

I feel like I have a much better grasp on the lore and the more abstract aspects of the narrative after watching this. I personally love the original ending but I found EOE difficult to fully comprehend without a more extensive understanding of the NGE timeline. This explanation has helped me to better appreciate the End Of Evangelion as a successful reimagining of the series conclusion that doesn't detract from the original 26 episodes in the way that I felt it did before hearing your interpretation. great video, thank you for making it.

Okay, in all seriousness. Evangelion might be a traditional mecha (actually artificial human) anime franchise, but the way it deals with Shinji's plight actually has me interested in looking at it one of these days. It's literally a traditional show with a psychological edge that makes it one of the more memorable of the 1990s alongside Macross Plus and the Gundam outings of the time.
Had to rewatch this. Then I had to rewatch the show. Then I had to rewatch the rebuilds. And it all comes together.
To think it's been over 20 years since I watched this series ... seriously needed this recap. Been thinking I need to re-watch NGE and this is not helping scratch that itch (although definitely helps with understanding why I itch...).

I've watched a good amount of Eva videos trying to explain the plot, but this is hands-down the most comprehensive and easy to digest one I've watched. Even as I sit here, my head swimming because of covid, this struck a deep chord and made a lot of sense with what I already know. Thank you so much for all the hard work that went into this video!
A slice of life Evangelion with Shinji having to chose between Rei and Kaworu while Asuka also secretly pines for him is in my top 10 anime requests. (Idea below)
Make Kaworu a emotionally bored lovechild who flirts and kisses other females which (secretly) makes Shinji jealous, but since Shinji is new to these emotions or refuses to confront them, he becomes passive aggressive to Kaworu during their rare chats.
Make Rei a chill friend who Shinji's heart slowly warms up to over time.
Make Asuka be a Jealous b**** who eventually finds another love interest besides Shinji, maybe Toji has an unrelenting crush on Asuka but she continually berates and bullies him, but she can't help but fall for his sincere, stupid cheesiness. Eventually they become a couple but Toji learns not to take what Asuka says seriously and takes her hits and emotional berates with grace.
The finale can be a prom. I already laid the ground work. Hopefully this gets seen someday ;_;
