Is Aemond actually Damon's son? We're three weeks away from the premiere of the second season of House of the Dragon, and it's time to dust off the most interesting and controversial theories, those that Mushroom, the most trusted maester in all of Westeros, loved so much. One of our favorite theories is the one that suggests that Aemond and Damon have a much deeper connection than that of a nephew and his uncle. Aemond could be Damon's son. What if all of Allicent's kids are Daemon's? Everyone assumes that Aemma was the one with the fertility issues but what if it was Viserys? To save face, Viserys, Daemon, Otto, and Allicent might have devised a plan for Daemon to impregnate Allicent and the offspring be presented as Viserys's children. This could explain Daemon's disdain for Allicent because she portrays herself as some saint compared to Rhaenyra when she also has "bastard" children. It would also explain why Viserys never made Aegon heir over Rhaenyra because Aegon is Daemon's. If this were the case, it would make the Greenes' betrayal even worse. Also, Daemon might not have said anything because he needs to stay in good grace with Rhaenyra who would still be the rightful heir after Viserys. I know this is a stretch but so is Aemond being Daemon's son but not Aegon and Helaena. Why would Allicent randomly cheat once after two kids and when Daemon already didnt like nor trust her?

@@elizatrev2023 But the pregnancies werent viable. So there was a fertility issue somewhere. I was really just speculating and not being serious. In reality, since they were distant cousins, it is most likely their genes were not compatible enough to consistently produce viable pregnancies. It is likely they shared some chromosomal abnormality or recessive gene that resulted in nonviable pregnancies if the fetus was homozygous recessive for the gene. But even then, there would only be a 25% chance of them producing such a fetus if theyre both heterozygous dominant for the trait. Idk. Such what-ifs. I know their last baby died after birth. Did they have any other live births besides Rhaenyra and the last baby? Or were they all stillborn or miscarriages? Is it possible someone was poisining Aemma to sabotage the pregnancies? I saw somewhere that there were rumors of some group trying to take down the Targaryans lowkey and that group was responsible for Viserys's failing health and later the dragon eggs no longer hatching. Wasnt Rhaenyra born before or right after Viserys was named Jaeherys heir? If so, maybe thats why she survived birth and infancy because it was before the shady group (dont remember who or what they were called) started trying to take down the Targaryans.

Aegon? He's not a little child, he's a married man with 3 children & nowhere near as much of a prick as Geoffrey. I think his problem is he was ignored by his parents. Alicent was just too young & resentful of her marriage to an old man to be a good mother. And Vicerys ignored all his kids after wanting a boy so badly. Don't think he ever got over the guilt of his 1st wife's death who he truly loved. Jmo.

I do believe that Aemond could be Daemons true born son. I also believe that the Blacks are the true heirs to the throne: Rhaenyra should be the one and only queen. Why? Because her father, the king, named her his heir, and everyone in the other kingdoms swore fealty to HER. He never named Aegon his heir. He never really considered that. The only reason Alicent put her son on the throne is because the king, on his deathbed, believed he was talking to Rhaenyra - not Alicent - about the secret he told her previously about the prince that was promised. Therefore, Alicent believed the dying king was talking about Prince Aegon. Everything that follows is ALL Alicents fault.... THIS is why I'm team BLACK. 🖤🖤🖤

I stand with the Blacks. Personally Raey was named heir, eldest child, and holds to all the Targaryan traditions while treading new ground as Queen. She is a natural dragon rider. Also the Blacks are supported by the Starks which speaks volumes since majority of Starks support the more just side more often than not. Only time I disagree with a Stark was going against Rhaegar but that for a different comment section/ post/ video.
I don't dislike the theory, but you also don't have to be father and son to be similar in personality they are both second sons living in their brothers shadows. Both could of been a better King if given the chance, and able fighters. Overall they show the traits of being a true Targaryn and show off the lineage of being a Dragon.

I missed this as well. And i literally just watched season 1 for the second time with my husband. I did say Daemon and Aemond look similar. But i certainly never caught wind in the show that they hinted they are father and son. So not sure what you saw. Will you elaborate what parts were hinting to this? I’ll go back and have a watch

I support Rhaneyra, I guess because her story reminds me a lot of real life Queen, Empress Matilda and that when her brother died her father King Henry I, had made his subjects swear recognition of her as his heir and then as he died they betrayed that oath and put King Stephen on the throne. When Matilda did descend the throne then, everything they saw as strong characteristics in men they resented in Matilda as a woman and betrayed and would undermine her. I know she does not win in the end but I so wished she had - could history have been different or would it be similar to our own history in real life where even Queen regents would fail to elevate woman to positions of power and politics, and would be constantly chastised and have to reinvent their character such as Queen Elizabeth I strategically saying she was born “weak” for having a female body but had to ensure she had the mind and will of a man.
That would be a great theory- that Aemond is Daemon's son. He acts just like that fool. They are both ruthless and relentless. They both have a hard "inside". I support Rahneyra's side because she was the promisde queen and Alice and the Greens stole it. I wish Rahneys had let her dragon burn the entire house of Green. (But had she did that there would be no story.) So, I am team BLACK!

I support Rhaenyra. The Hightowers gained their strength through deception, and although Rhaenyra has flaws of her own, she was the rightful heir to the throne and Aegon has terrible qualities that make him an unworthy ruler.
Also, Otto was a puppet master on the level of Littlefinger. every move he made may have been a chess move, but it was for the betterment of his family and not the kingdom.
House Black is undoubtedly my top preference. The devious plots orchestrated by Otto Hightower to undermine Rhaenyra's legitimate claim to the throne are truly despicable, and it is precisely these actions that have led me to harbor a deep sense of mistrust toward the members of the Green.

I think Daemon may have seduced Alicent because of his dislike of Otto- possibly on the advice of the White Worm. She deals in secrets to gain power. This would also explain why Alicent was rageful and appeared jealous when she thought Rahynera had been with Dameon.

Hell all of them children could be his. But he was passed by because of the princess so they had to conspire and be with the old man because daddy was controlling it all like sending her down to comfort the queen. Then next thing you know she's pregnant a 2nd time so I believe she did have relations with Damon because the princess was thought to have really pissed her off because she wanted Damon....

I'm team Black. I feel King Vicerys knew his eldest son was a terrible person and would be a poor leader. I also feel he didn't like the influence Otto had over his children. He felt Rhaenyra was the best choice for a ruler. He prepared her for that role.
This theory is level 1mill spicy but as far as the show is concerned, it’ll never be true. Daemon hates those kids because they got in his way of his succession. He would have killed Rynera for the same reason if he didn’t love her. There were only 3 people on the planet that he cared for and that’s Viserys , Ryhnera and his ego.
Alicent was a lot of things in that show but not with Daemon. Maybe she had a crush on him earlier in the show when she was younger. You’re taking his hatred for the Hightowers, his anger from being wronged and his ego damage down the wrong street.

How could anyone prove this theory? They didn't have DNA/paternity tests back then. I love the idea but... how could anyone know? Looking at the face of Aemo. It just hit hard how perfect the actor is who plays him. Tba Aryan look of his. The chisled features. When compared to Aegon... well just say the less handsome of the two is obvious. I think Aemon would have made a better king than his brother. I airways find it odd how as children, Aegon was the tall skinny kid and Aemon was short and unattractive. Besides looks and personalities (probably because they are related), there are no hints. Daemon would have revealed his night with Alicent to the entire kingdom before the monks could cook up one of those PlanB cocktails. It’s just not possible.
