- Starting my rope solo climbing journey back in the same area where I also climbed my first ever free solo route.
This is just the beginning. I will be doing lots of rope soloing in the upcoming months and can't wait to show you all of my upcoming projects.
I hope to progress with each route and gradually increase the difficulty of my rope solo ascents.
#climbing #mountains #gopro
im afraid of heights but love watching these, so confusing
Same
What a beautiful, quiet place. Love your journeys, very very enjoyable. Thanks
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it ☺️
I could watch these videos all day!
Thank you 🙏
The climbing is always amazing but I'm here to say that your opening still shots are amazing too. More quiet openers. The land is so beautiful and calming.
Thank you, much appreciated! 🙏
Dude this is amazing!!
Thank you!! 😊
Nice trip! On the first clip at 2:29, you could already have suspended the lead rope weight. That would have secured the bottom belay carabiners in the proper orientation. Also you don't have to extend so many quickdraws because you don't have rope drag when on rope solo... Good adventure! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thank you! Good advice!
It’s funny how It didn’t even cross my mind that there is no rope drag hahah, I guess it was just muscle memory doing it’s thing 😆.
Looking forward to the next climb to improve my rope solo technique 🙌
Hi Yann. Have you tested the asap on a skinny dynamic rope? Im just curious if it really works since it’s not designed for that!
@@maxlindroth1594 i have. You can expect Same results as an ascender or micro traxion. It will cut a skinny dynamic rope and desheath a thicker one in a severe fall.
@@andrazegartrope drag is actually beneficial while rope soloing, some people create large amounts of friction using rubber bands so that the rope doesnt sag down and create dangerous and poorly visible slack
@@jana31415 Yup. I use slip knots to prevent the rope slack :)
Thanks, thats a good route to start rope soloing - not too hard but enough that you have to pay attention to technique and equipment.
Exactly :)
Great video!! Got me hyped...just going to climb some tricky slabs in my area with your vibe in my mind..
Thank you brother!
Good luck with your climbing! Enjoy 🤟
Keep on grinding your rope solos! Definitely another kind of challenge to deal with the rope, haha
Thank you brother!
Yup, it’s even more challenging than I imagined 😅 but practice makes perfect!
Good job.
Thank you!
Bravo care🙏🧗♂️
You remembered the hiking poles :)
whoop whoop
This time I got lucky 🤣
Noooo! The sticks!
Edit: Oh I thought they were lost. Glad you picked them hehe
By some miracle I still have them 🤣
Hey man! Long time watcher. I am curious if you felt more afraid of falling during a rope solo vs free solo. I have heard that when free soloing, falling isn't a big consideration since it isn't an option. But when roped, the fear of falling becomes more real! Great videos man, keep them up!
Thank you brother, I remember your username 😀🙌.
Hmm that’s an interesting question.
In this particular case not really, since the route was still well below my limit, but I am gonna gradually climb harder routes, so that will probably change my answer soon haha.
Also worth mentioning is that this route was mostly bolted, so that also makes you feel safer than on trad.
This makes sense. I am looking forward to see your progress. I am sure harder routes and more trad climbing will pose a lot of different challenges and unique perspectives! Good luck friend@@andrazegart
I’m gonna watch this when I’m faded tonight
If anybody is wondering, tjis is Vrh nad Škrbino, from the south
To be precise it’s actually a ridge just a bit to the east from Vrh nad Škrbino 😀
Sei un grande ..
Thank you!
amazing video. Can you explain the rope solo system a bit more im curious about it
Hi ! At 4:45 you said
"another slip knot so I don't have too"
Why you use it and how , above the carabiner ( beetween you and the carabiner) or underneath the crabiner ?
Thank for your nice share !!
Very Nice vidéo
Thanks!
nice
🙏
Amazing work! Can I ask why do you extend the quickdraws as there's no rope friction in rope solo climbing? Thanks!
Thank you brother 🙏
Yeah that’s just my muscle memory doing it’s thing 🤣.
I will try to avoid doing it next time haha :)
@@andrazegart😂
Hi Andraz! Firstly I must say your videos are highly inspirational, so much infact I just ordered some clibing gear for myself. This leads me to my question: Are you self tought or did you have any form of climbing education?
Thank you brother!
If you want to get properly introduced to climbing I HIGHLY recommend alpine/mountaineering courses. That’s where I learned all of the basics.
But as far as rope soloing goes, it is still a very new and unknown sport in our country so I had to learn everything on my own.
Wow, is that how rope soloing works. I always wondered. So you are basically climbing the mountain twice.
Pretty much yeah 😀
Hey Andraz please could you make a video detailing your rope soloing technique?
actually maybe this is the video already lol
Hey. I do plan to make a detailed video about rope soloing and my rope solo setup in the upcoming months.
But first I need to make most of the warm sunny days and do some more rope solo ascents!
New Vid Pintaric it is! 😉
The angle between the points in your first belay station is far too big. You could extend the sections of the rope coming from the individual points to the master point, making this assembly stronger. Just for consideration, for re-climbing the pitch I use ascencion, if I do not want to climb it normal way again, with the spoc as a backup. Great stuff and good luck!
Hey Andraz, love the videos. Any plans on coming to the US and climbing some big walls?
Thank you! Yeah definitely. Maybe already next year 😀
Hey, Andraz
How did you learn your rope solo technique/ setup?
Thanks for the video!
Rope soloing is still very new in our country, so I had to learn everything on my own, with the help of youtube tutorials.
Whoa ! Little question : what is the device tout use after the grigri for your slack management ? Is it a ASAP ?
Keep this good Vibe dude, you inspire me to do my own projects !
Thank you, appreciate it!
It is indeed the ASAP, and I use it for my backup device in case the grigri fails :)
If you look closely you see that it is attached to my belay loop, and the tiny cord on the right side of my harness is just to keep it out of the way.
@@andrazegart yes, I see now. Thanks !
My memory isn’t that bad after all! 😂
Good effort! Could you please tell me which cliff/route is this?
Thank you!
Meja - smer Žarki
Oj, sicer nisem alpinist, gledam pa rad 😀. Me pa zanima, a maš to avtomatsko prevajanje, glede na to, da tudi vse vzdihljaje prevaja ? 😀 LP
Hey, in hvala :)
Hahah ne, vse prevajam sam 😀. Prevodi vzdihljajev so pa bolj za hec 🤣
do you know the grade of this route?
nice video btw, keep going
Thank you!
It’s a V+.
Hi. What is your rope solo technic?
Grigri as the main device, petzl ASAP as a backup and kong duck clamp for rope managament.
But for this season I’m probably gonna change it up a bit.
which route is this?
Meja - Smer Žarki
Kako si imenuje ta pot
To ni pot, ampak je plezalna smer. Imenuje se žarki.
Kje to plezas?
Meja, zraven Vrha nad škrbino
Seems like the worst of both worlds. All the faff of gear and ropes but still a lot more risky than normal trad/sport climbing with a belayer. For me, free solo climbing is pure and true spirit of the mountaineer
First!!!!
🙌
