I have a few dozen playlists and a lot of videos in each, but this one deserves a place of honor in my "best of the best" playlist!
Allie Buchman’s Fast Odd Count is also a rare gem!
My dear Jill, you are the angel of Beading haven !! I would have given up on doing peyote if I hadn't come across this. Thanks to you, I don't have to fight with those pesky beginning rows. Thank you from the bottom of my beady little heart!❤️❤️❤️
Wonderful video! Four-in-one - how to make and use a starter strip, ladder stitch and peyote stitch. It is indeed magic, especially since I can use the beads I've had for decades and never actually wanted to use lol. Thanks so much!
Thank you very much, for such easy to follow instruction videos. I have waited for nearly fifty years to find a way to learn beading. With Internet and you tube, learning (across the world ) is now a accessible. I am loving it.
I'm a little thick when it comes to comprehending new methods - But your video/teaching is the easiest, most pleasant that I have seen! Thanks for being a great teacher!
This is a great recycle idea. I can use the "not quite right colors" making my starter strip. I have a few that I bought online that just were not the right shade I needed for my project. Thanks!
That is a wonderfully practical way to start peyote and can be used over and over again. Your mother appears to be the most patient of beaders, judging by what I've seen of her work.
WOW! What a genius idea! This starting peyote has been the bane of my beading life! Thank you a million times Jill!
Jill I just want to say Thank You So Much I have learned so much from you in the last year. You have helped me develop a gift that I know came from God and you an angle here on earth, so Thank You with all my heart, may God Bless you and your family.
Oh My Gourd, Jill! You are my life (time) saver and a national treasure. Thank you so much for teaching us this beading technique and for all the wonderful lessons you have graced us with. You are the Best and Thank You Again!!! Kisses, BAJ
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
I’ve made two and they are fantastic. I can’t believe how much easier peyote is now, how much better the results look and feel. You are a wizard!
Thank you SO MUCH Jill! This is really a great tip for those of us who needs those beads evenly and securely fixed when starting peyote ! This video makes my day happier ! :-)
Jill Wiseman, you and your mom are geniuses!!! This is fabulous! I always struggle starting peyote on long straps so I will definitely be making my own starter strip. Thank you so much for sharing this!
I have to thank you once again. You always share with us the new idea of beading skill other then
the design of the project , how nice your tutorial is !
Love your work Jill! It’s a pleasure to learn with you. I first saw you when you were on JTV! I really enjoyed your gorgeous creations! Glad to find myself doing bead weaving now, not just stringing. You make it seem so very simple! Thank you for all the great information and I now am hooked on weaving! I hope this finds you very well! God bless!
WOW! That beaded tapestry is amazing!
I am LOVING this video!! Thank you so much! I have wanted to try making beaded tapestry, but it was so frustrating trying to start such long rows. Bless you my dear, and give Mama hugs, her tapestry is fabulous!! 💖
Thanks Jill! This will be so helpful. I love the Quick Start Peyote Stitch Cards that I bought from you, but this will be much better for those larger projects.

You are a gift! I’m a beginner and have been struggling with peyote. Thank you for this video.
A million thank you's!!! I had been trying to figure out how to make my own paper ones like you can buy. Now I don't have to. I have to say this is an amazing idea. Just like the other gals on here, you have made my beading life much easier. Jill you are so smart and so generous to share your beading ideas and designs with us. So grateful!!!

Pure genius. Thank you so much for such a brilliant idea and another superb tutorial. You are a star !!!!
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! I'm new to beading so I'm still all thumbs...this will be very helpful. Thank you, Jill!
So glad that I found this video. It was so well done and so helpful to get peyote started. I have now used it for both even count and odd count peyote. Not sure why I was a little confused on the odd count, but I finally got it and it works like a charm. Thank you Jill for your excellent directions and wonderful video.
This video is so professional! I struggled with brick stitch in the past, and watching your hands and how you held the thread made me realize I had been holding it in an awkward position. I liked your tip about using an odd number of beads and the reason why. Thanks a million!
what a wonderful way to start peyote. I never get an even look so now I will try this way! Thanks so much Jill, you are
the best teacher..
Genius idea! Thanks for sharing jill. Love June' s Beaded Tapestry too
Oh my days, this will help so much for my next project that is 190 beads wide. Thank you soooo much.
Love, love, love this! That piece your mom did, that is amazing!!
This is such a neat trick. Once again thanks Jill for sharing your tricks and tips.
Thank you for this! It will make starting much easier and neater too. I love it!
Thank you Jill. I will be giving this a try. I have learned so much from watching your videos. You have made it so easy. Thank you again
Thank you so much Jill. ❤ What a huge difference you have made to my beading. Your tutorials are fantastic and have made it so much easier for me. Frustration at starting is sooo much less now! Brilliant 💐💐
I'm so glad! I like being helpful and alleviating frustration!
This is a 3-in-1 video for me!! 1. I now have a great peyote-starter (my most dreaded stitch ever to start), 2. I learned the Brick Stitch, 3. I found a nice use for those not-so-uniform cheap beads! Mine is not so pretty, but I got rid of some of those "bargain" beads and just made sure to only use the same size/shape on the end that matters. Thank you SO much for this video, Jill!!! Being able to do peyote will open a whole new door in bead weaving for me!
Thank you Jill YOU ROCK! I just bought your book on amazon called Beautiful Beaded Ropes, I can't wait to get it and start beading some ropes.
Gosh, get your mom on the show too! The greatest guest appearance ever! Please!!!
This is a profoundly useful video. Thank you so much ❤
OMG, you have just rocked my world! Thank you for sharing your knowledge :)

Ingenious! Thank you Jill! I will make a bunch of these and get good use and the satisfaction of finishing a quick project. xoC
You just gave me the key to make a 13x15 tapestry. I was boggled with trying to figure out how to start the first three rows. Thank you!

OOHH MY GOSH!!! I am going to try Peyote again!! This makes so much sense.... Thank you so much!!
Thank you Jill. I have no problems with starting peyote, but from now on peyote will be much quicker.
Absolutely love this idea going to make my starter right now
Wow, this is my first time of hearing about this method. Very, nice. I will try this. I love the peyote look but not the peyote aggravation. Thanks again!
Wonderful start. Thank you.
BEST peyote hack of all time!!!
Thank you for this video. I have tried peyote stitch many times and failed. I will try this. It looks like just what I need.❤
Wow! Great idea!! Im gonna try it. Looking very pretty BYW!😊💕
Love this tip! Thank you.
Thanks, Jill! Great tip.
Brilliant! Thank you for doing the video.
cool idea! thanks Jill!
This is wonderful! It answered questions I didn't even know I had. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I bought a bead loom pattern (or so I thought) of a dog to make for my dad (looks like a dog he lost & loved so very much) and it turned out to be a peyote pattern instead of a bead loom pattern. Because of you, I will be able to make this pattern for him. ❤️❤️❤️
Awesome!!
Thank u Jill! I'm always looking for ur videos. U have helped me!
Wow! What a useful tip! Thank you!
Just found this video bc I love Peyote and looming and was looking for new tips. You are genious!!!!!! I am making my peyote guide today!!! Subed!!!!
I really have never had any issues with starting peyote, so I almost didn't watch this. I'm glad I did. I don't often do a real long peyote start, but I can see where this would be good for that. So easy to get lost stringing row 1 & 2. Also, I just did a tubular peyote piece was really wide and I know even though the beads are right, I twisted the thread a couple times when adding row 3. Not exactly sure how to adapt this for the piece I'm thinking of, but I'm going to give it a try. I think it could be done. Love your videos!
Love this idea. I'm going to make the starter as soon as I can
I love it Jill, it's fantastic!! Happy New Year Jill✨🍾🎉🍸💫🎊
Thank you for sharing this technique.
Wonderful. Thank you Jill 💕👍😁
Your video is the first video that I have seen to really explain and demonstrates how to do this, thank you. I did subscribe to your channel.
Like always you have great suggestions, thank you
Great- thanks Jill!
Thanks for a great idea. I will be trying this on my next project.
Thank you for doing this video, it's so much more simple than I anticipated. I love your videos, I've learned so much from them. I'm really enjoying my beading journey so far. Hope you're staying safe and well during this stressful time with CoVid19. Take care & God bless 😊💖
Ugly beads as a starter strip what a great idea!!! Thank you for sharing this, and thinking of how many times I had to “torture” my self into making these really wide peyote bracelets!
Thank you so much for this helpful trick!
You are a beading Goddess!
Great i love it! thank you Jill
OMG!! Thank you soooo much. Was ready to /toss these beads out the window... Peyote >.
Inny and outy, I never thought belly button terms would be used in a beading video! lol I love this idea. Nearly all my work is in peyote, either beaded bezels or tapestry so this will be really useful. I have no issue using the traditional method of starting but I think this will be easier, less fiddly to do :)
Thank you. GREAT tutorial.
Thank you so much for sharing this video!! 🌸👍🏻😊
BRILLIANT! Thank you.
love your honesty :)
Oh my word, this is a great tip! Thanks!
Thank you so much! I have been attempting the peyote for about 2 weeks now…. I thought what is wrong with me! Why cant i get this! This helps so much. Thank you
I would give this two thumbs up if I could!
I love the starter strip thank you you made my life easier
You are sooo cool.,Love your instructions. Thanks
Finally, the answer! I've bought those Quick Start Peyote cards but they are too small for my beads and don't work. I've been fumbling for days giving up on first five rows that look horrible, and keep restarting many times. I can see why you use the brick stitch, to create the ups and downs. Going to do this tonight, there's hope, thank you.
Perfect. Thank you.
great idea, thanks
Brilliant!
Thanks a lot for the idea you shared
